The pagodas of this temple were looking very characteristic in their appearances.
It was really questionable for me why those peculiar pagodas could be found only in this temple.
Other pagodas in the most of Korean Buddhist temple seemed to have had very formal style in their appearances.
But the pagodas in this temples were very unique. If it was an experimental try, I should’ve seen similar works elsewhere.
In front of the gate to Dae Wung Jeon Hall, the circle stone pagoda stood.
Interestingly, this circle stone pagoda reminded me of the stupa of India.
I don’t know what made me think like that, but something in my brain seemed to guide me to link this pagoda with the image of the stupa in India.
As passing through the gate, I could see the pagodas looking similar to the avant-guard work.
I was very confused with those peculiar pagoda. Who made those works ?
@slowwalker,
Yeah in Sri Lanka we can also see circle shape pagodas, but what you share is little similar to the top part of the pagoda. So this might be rare thing and country wise the shape of the pagoda also changed!
I tried to find more similar pagodas like what you share today! But not found that at google! That means this pagoda is a unique one!
Cheers~
Could have been that the pagodas have a different history, and the people who made them wanted to use it to connote something in my opinion, it's circular and short a bit, but well, I think it's amazing, awesome shots really.
hmm.. interesting place there,, thank you for the reference about this place
@slowwalker, Of course...First time I've seen peculiar pagodas and It's different mind creating to me. No wondering about other stone pagodas coz It's very similar to other once. Here's circle stone pagoda seems inside gate of Dae Wung Jeon Hall. Nice photo shots selection.

I'm Korean , thanks for your interest in our cultural heritage
@slowwalker, this unique pagoda look like in Buddhist temple Indonesia, we also called it form of stupa, which have difference with Hindus temple. Cause of your post, i know that Korea has many kind of pagodas. You shoot them with your camera exactly beautiful. Thank for your hard effort and also the explanation. And may be you can solve who is the creator of this unique stupa pagodas?
Wun Ju Sa temple really has variety of different styles of pagodas, the round stones are interesting, the one who made them, must have had some equipment to bring the stones circular shapes. The upper edge is very smooth, they must have been polished too and lower has a sharp edge. All of them so unique, I can't even say which one I like most :)
