Hehe! No worries! There is always next year!
By the way, I bought a house over there on the Eastern Shore a few years back. Actually, when the market fell. It is an 1869 Rustic Victorian and I could never afford it here in the DC area!
So, I have gone to the Chincoteague Pony Swim on the island and go to the beach there. It is quieter than Ocean City. Actually Assateague Island. Have you ever gone there?
I bought a pony at the swim! LOL They have it every year in July.
Always Next year is my problem.. lol
1869.. wow! sounds cool!! There are deals to be had if your fluid and timing is good. I don't want a money pit or another thing to take care of. My sister, on the other hand, has bought several properties between Ocean City and the Outer Banks. They like the rental thing and it has seemed to work in their favor.
Sometimes we take a drive over to the island, but stay around the upper end near the campground. Just a nice little drive over. Otherwise we take my parents boat in from the back side for a picnic and to watch the ponies. I stay clear of those biting crazy ponies! hehe. I have seen people get to close and get a nice little bite. Thats cool that you take the big swim and sponsor a pony. Donations go a long way to helping keep them healthy and around for others to enjoy. Kudos to you!
Oh gosh! The last thing I need is a money pit! The fact that I have moved for work means I have had many opportunities to buy property and I have used some of them. I just recently relinquished the one in Texas, but Texas has just exploded Market so that was good. I Had A Summer Place in Michigan up on the Canadian border but the commute just got too much so I sold that a couple years ago. I have had one in Florida for about 15 years maybe a little more come up with it was one of the first places I ever bought and I am getting ready to get rid of it and just keep the one of the DC area the one out in the shore. It's fun to rent them when they're in good shape tell me about when you have to start pouring money into them they can become a pain. So buy them and then divest right before.
I'm no expert, but it's worked for me. It's a beautiful part of the country but I cannot see myself living there full-time. Which is what makes it a nice little weekend place. Lots of little but a nice weekend place. You're fortunate to have parents that own a place. And yes! Simple works for me! Keep those money pits away from me!
