Tree Tuesday ~ A Tribute to Trees

in #treetuesday7 years ago

Trees have always been a profound part of my life, ever since my earliest childhood memories. I remember climbing them, finding shade under them, hugging them and admiring their sheer beauty. They have always been there for me to provide wisdom, strength and courage. Trees have nurtured my soul, healed my wounds and always remind me of what unconditional love truly is. Today I'd like to share my love of trees with the #steemit community through a series of photos and writings iv'e collected over the years.

We never look deeply into the quality of a tree; we never really touch it, feel its solidity, its rough bark, and hear the sound that is part of the tree. Not the sound of wind through the leaves, not the breeze of a morning that flutters the leaves, but its own sound, the sound of the trunk and the silent sound of the roots.

When you live in the shadow of a big tree, you have to run twice as fast to get into the sunlight.

I looked up my family tree and found out I was the sap.

The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity... and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.

Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don't see what goes on underground - as they grow roots. Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty. But we don't see the roots. We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree.

A woodland in full color is awesome as a forest fire, in magnitude at least, but a single tree is like a dancing tongue of flame to warm the heart.

Just touching that old tree was truly moving to me because when you touch these trees, you have such a sense of the passage of time, of history. It's like you're touching the essence, the very substance of life.

The universe is an example of love. Like a tree. Like the ocean. Like my body. Like my wheelchair. I see the love. ~Ram Dass

Those were some great photographs! The sap one looks as fascinating and disgusting at the same time. It reminds me of the time on a school trip that I went to touch a tree and my hands were all sappy and sticky. Gross!

So many great quotes about trees, most of them I have never heard before. Thank you for this phylosophic Treetuesday post with your original photos and wise thoughts.

Amazing photography. I can't move my eyes from the pictures. The view looks amazing place and photos are beautiful, thanks for sharing.......

WOW! As in WOW! You're photos looks so amazing!

By the way I'm a person with disability too :)

Looking at all your trees photos, one can tell you really love trees. Thank you for sharing them one by one and relates them to appropriate quotes.

Unfortunately, I rarely spend time with trees. Totally a city life, kind of regret. The only time I remember was going for jungle trekking and those trees had been a support. I hold on to them so not to fall off the slip. I guess you are right, so i will learn to love tress from now on. 😎

Wow these photos are amazing! So colorful and detailed. You really do have a love and a special bond with trees. It really shows through the words you chose to represent how you feel about them. I was always a tree climber and lover of the shade they provided when playing outside.

Thanks for sharing :)

Much of my childhood was spent near trees. I lived in the foothills of the Shawangunk Mountains. All we had to do was cross our backyard and we were in the forest. I was more comfortable with trees than with people. Recently, I started drawing with simple paint/Gimp applications. Of course I drew trees. There's a difference between looking at something and trying to capture that idea in a picture. I think that by drawing the trees I was going back to childhood and losing myself in the forest once again. Lovely, lovely trees in your pictures. I love #7 especially. That shot could have been taken on one of my childhood treks.

Trees are truly incredible beings. Trees never ask who you are - good/bad/ugly etc, before giving shade, fruit, wood, refuge...and they continue to give as lovingly and unconditionally regardless of how they are treated. When one connects with them, interacts with them, gives them warm attention - they are sooooo responsive, supportive and kind!

🚣Great celebration of trees @silasdavid, thanks :D
