RE: An Open Letter to the Community - HF22.5

in #tron5 years ago

More Rewards to Witnesses
Community is the core to the Steem ecosystem, and Witnesses should earn rewards accordingly given how important their roles are. We will come up with a plan to reward Witnesses privileges in Steemit like staking rewards.

But a platform like this is nothing without content. Do you surely believe that wintesses need to be rewarded more heavilly? Do people use reddit, instagram, and facebook to see drama about reddit, instagram and facebook?

No, they go there to follow and discuss things that they are interested in.

We need less content about Steem and more rewards for dedicated content creators and people who grow communities.

Sort:

Everything that has been done that past 4 years here was just wiped out by a fucking communist piece of shit. Congrats @ned and @justinsunsteemit, you just made Steem 100% worthless.

Fucking halfwits.

It didn’t take long for your optimism to get wiped out.

Fucking hell, never thought I'd actually say this, but you seem to have been right all along.

Amen.

Yeah, if only you could combine all your insults from the past couple of years and send them towards Ned and Justin. They completely deserve it

We told you so.

Fair play, I didn't see this coming, but it's impossible to ignore anymore.

He might have destroyed Tron by this action too. You were right all along. These scammers like JustinSun are sneaky.

How can we get out of this? Where to discuss? Don't really wanna do it here on this illegal hardfork.

I mean, just get out of Steem. Even if he took back this move, who would want to work on a blockchain owned by such a character constantly casting his red shadow? Sounds kinda gross

I dont wanna get out of Steem, just this crooked hardfork version

What's this 4 about ?

About how many crocs Justins' nan sells everyday `?

4 and death are pronounced the same in Chinese

Steemit finally went to hell? How terrible.

Congrats. You’re a fucking douchebag with a $0 vote. Poor pleb.

No, no, your mom is the bitch. Don't get confused.

It's a strategy to say that "witness rewards will be boosted" because in the end they need witnesses supporting this hostile takeover. Think it is like a bribe.

It is a bribe. But the witnesses will be the exchanges and Tron BPs or whatever they are called.

"Community" witnesses.

Completely, this is to ensure compliance with the new CENTRAL AUTHORITY!

While at the end of the day, witnesses are needed to maintain the infrastructure - what is the point of infrastructure or the blockchain at all if creators aren't rewarded in an equitable manner?

As I stated - people don't come to steem to see the marvels of its underlying technology, they come for the ability to etch their statements into an immutable ledger, get a reward in exchange for that, or to share their creations with the world.

Imagine there would be only Steemit. No SteemMonsters, DTube, 3Speak, Steempeak, SteemWorld, etc.

It doesn't stop the stuff running on the chain, it just takes away the incentive.

Also, do I read this in an Elton John sing song voice?

Oh wow, thanks! Impossible to read that without singing now! XD

Sorry, not sorry. Great song though!

John Lennon I think.

Imagine there could be a hell of a lot more if it wasn't for most of the witnesses their greed.

Don't worry, new APPs will fill the vacuum

While at the end of the day, witnesses are needed to maintain the infrastructure - what is the point of infrastructure or the blockchain at all if creators aren't rewarded in an equitable manner?

Its a bad approach and we have seen it failing first hand. There must be an intrinsic utility value provided by the chain like dApp which generates revenue. Otherwise, the system is flawed.

A suggestion could be that when a post is promoted or featured, the money used for that promotion or feature is spread to the accounts that delivered page views or clicks on that promotion, paying content creators for the impressions made.

It's need an ad sense like anti spam / anti gaming mechanism to stop bots, but it's another way to share revenue.

yes, something like that. A part of the revenue can be paid back to the apps. In anycase we are seeing the first generation apps and also seeing the issues around it. What we are witnessing, IMHO is the evolutionary steps in the blockchain paradigm. Time will tell beyond the Bitcoin usecase, will the public-ledger will live or not.

I hope so. I came to this chain to say what I want and to stand by the history of what I say, acknowledging that my changing opinions and thoughts of matters can be scrutinised openly.

It's okay for someone to change their opinion and outline the reasons for it.

It is n it okay for them to delete all traces of what their opinion or idea was at a certain stage of history.

Interestingly I was reading a paper given below today ...

image.png

Witness's = Tron puppets on strings.

They didn’t even set @null or something as beneficiary....

Hahaha...pathetic

And downvoted my comment...

Screen Shot 2020-03-02 at 10.21.03 pm.png

You shouldn't be hostile to begin with.

Freedom of speech, I believe in it, which is why I will not downvote your comment.

downvotes do not limit your freedom of speech

He just wanted to point out that they already started using their stake.

He wasn’t offended by the DV...

The witnesses are theirs... they don't give AF

Popcorn sales through the roof right now, I'm sure!

did someone say !popcorn ?

and Netflix subscriptions are getting cancelled!

Where can we regroup to discuss tactics? Not here on 22.5. Can we somehow connect to 22.2 which presumably previous witnesses are still running?

I am guessing they are forking the chain as we speak...

let me know when you see announcements please, in case i miss.

Hi @holoz0r

But a platform like this is nothing without content.

Very true. Correct me if I'm wrong - but did current witnesses supported content creators? Most of them unfortunatelly didn't.

Perhaps new witnesses will.

Do you surely believe that wintesses need to be rewarded more heavilly?

I rather see witnessed being rewarded instead of seeing steem being dumped on the market, the way STINC has been doing for very long.

We need less content about Steem and more rewards for dedicated content creators and people who grow communities.

YOu nailed it.

Yours, Piotr

Thank you. I've made this opinion known for quite some time, and even tried to get a witness node up and running myself at one point.

I respect the work that is done by curie, ocd, csquared, and other such community accounts and projects, and support them with my witness votes.

Witnesses were more than sustainable, and many do delegate to curation projects, and competitions which promoted people to bring new content to steem, but these rewards were not ... as philanthropic as say, patrons in the traditional art world.

It seem that we're on the same page here @holoz0r

ps.
I would need to ask you for little favour. Recently I've decided to join small contest called "Community of the week" and I desribed our project.hope hive/community. Would you mind helping me out and RESTEEM this post - just to get some extra exposure? Your valuable comment would be also appreciated.

Perhaps new witnesses will.

there are no new witnesse, these 20 accounts are SUN the dictator

Hi again @aagabriel

Thank you for your reply.

Can I ask you for little favour? I joined contest called "Community of the week" with project I manage and I would be grateful if you could RESTEEM it and help me get some exposure and drop some encouraging comment :)

In re:

  • A very select few were on trails and if you bugged a few enough times, they would vote your post, but very very very rarely did you get a comment out of them.
  • I think the current rewards are a little skewed, top 20's make a killin while backups not so much. More of a linear curve would be better.
  • Exactly.

You know what would be really funny? If they froze all those witnesses that froze them, just you know, temporarily.

I hope both sides find a way to deescalate the situation ...

Hear, here hombre. I imagine some have already coded a hardfork are working on it right now to make a 'new steem' apart from TRON. Saddens me most that they didn't even really give new management a chance to prove themselves. I'm hoping for the best!

That would sure be hilarious.

The 30 witnesses voting rule.
That is who to blame!

Lesson learned the hard way.

He wants to reward HIS witnesses.

I think it's kind of telling that one of the first things they want to do after gaining the top 20 witness accounts is to give more rewards to the witnesses.

It'd have to be some pretty significant bribe to make it worth their while.

This is a bit of counter ransom, to the initial ransom that was 0.22.2 Soft Fork.

Ransom, good word.

Just put it between H1 headers and bold, and its even better. :D

!giphy ha+ha+ha+funny

giphy is supported by witness untersatz!

Not what I was going for but oh wells. LOL

You say that like anyone in power is reading comments lolz

I'm reading the replies to this - and its something I'm super passionate about, and always have been!

Yeah I mean JSun and co aren't. Maybe get a vague inkling of who's on their side. They don't give a rats butt what we think here in the comments

@holoz0r 100% - I can't stand that the biggest payouts on Steem are all STEEM-related. I mean - give me a fucking break, guys - stop staring at your own navel. That's no way to onboard new users.

Thank you, glad to see that others agree. :)

Finally someone with reason. Give to people who build bridges instead of walls (softforkwink)
I was happy someone like Justin bought into this project. And we gave him a warm welcome. It shameful and I hope order will be restored quickly! We could have reached out to them, request a meeting, open dialog, find balance. No, @justinsunsteemit MIGHT be hostile, let's destroy ourselves and block him out. Let's start a war. Unbelievable
@steemitblog, If you need a witness who stands behind you and is passionate about making this place awesome, sustainable and profitable. I am here for you.

Bootlicker.

You just want to protect your own "investment" without realizing what is actually at stake. Freedom of speech and immutability is what made the ChiCom Knight Steemplar Justin Sun come running to take this over...

beg for scraps, slave. It's all you will ever get.

Justin Sun's interest in tech mergers and acquisitions has NEVER been beneficial for both parties, only one! And you know why? Because the ChiCom party is the ONLY Party.

One party to rule them all. Your life for the Party. Aint no party like a coronavirus party.

Omg in these times you really see how dumb some people actually are.

Yeah, you seem like a good choice to secure the blockchain. Lol

I tried to get a node up and running once upon a time. It was a difficult journey I gave up on as my personal funds wouldn't support it on an ongoing matter. I also wanted to own the physical hardware, not rent it. :)

We shall see what the next few days bring.

I am pretty sure some of the witnesses will not need their equipment anymore. Could strike a bargain

Most of that hardware is in European data centres, not owned by them, but leased.

A lot of it is Intel gear as well, that basically needs a nuclear powerplant to run. :P

I'd rather have AMD EPYC hardware at this point :P

I've got no room in the house to put it, let alone the knowledge of how to get a witness node up and running.

Done that passed that long time ago... then tried EOS... then gave up... =) I have better and bigger machines where I work that I can't use for this.. and not having codes that can use the full potential of hardware even if the target is to sustain decentralization, its not a good path in my view.

Performance from some players might be better, but that does not mean they have the same profits or play in the game. For the later, you have real'estate. Not blockchain.

It would be nice if setting up a node was as easy as it was to mine dogecoin back in the day. :)

Justin has shown he doesn’t care about decentralization or blockchain at all. Way to throw his reputation to garbage in this space. Nobody will take him seriously again.

Give me my Steem back. Hard fork already!

He's from China, under the wing of Jack Ma, two of the most centralised entities on the planet. Not that surprising

Well, you seem to be right. Binance, huobi, and tron orchestrated this take over together. Looks like they all are connected and act like mafia.

I am not informed about this so Binance in their contracts is free to do with peoples coin whatever they want? if that is right, maybe people should know that.

A lot of witness nodes are physically centralised in European data centres. They're spread out, sure - but Steem was never as decentralised as other cryptocurrency projects are.

So one person running the Steem and 21 different voted in by thousands of users is the same to you?

No, definitely not. This is a hostile takeover, but a good time to talk about the physical decentralisation along with the benefits of multiple, independent human beings (proof of brain!) running the chain simultaneously.

We can have both.

I don't think so. Not until this is settled. Dictatorship vs people at this point. If people win then we can talk about other issues, otherwise, there is no point.

Wherever the community goes, I'll go.

There's no point scrawling out my life on a wall that no one reads or engages in. :)

If you know @freedom or @pumpkin, you would know Steem is not decentralized long time ago. That account was able to decide whether a witness can be top 20

You have no clue, freedom is an opportunist and profiteer. Not a dictator.

Right, I have no clue who is freedom/pumpkin. Do you have any information about him?

I have no clue.
