Drove Through Tulsa To Check It Out

in #tulsa2 years ago

I drove through Tulsa, Oklahoma to check it out because I had never really stopped there and directly set eyes on it. To my surprise there was a snowstorm between Dallas and Tulsa and there was probably about an inch and a half on the ground.

I wanted to check it out because they have a $10,000 grant to move there for remote / self employed people.

It was actually this past Monday that I was there and it was more rain than snow in the city. It was snowing in Missouri so it didn't make sense to drive into that.

Imagine rolling in playing this song!

I decided to check out a couple bars downtown and ask people what they think of Tulsa. The first bar I went to blew me away because it smelled like cigarettes and that isn't common to be able to smoke in a bar in a major metro.

It was so divey that there was even an old time cigarette vending machine.

I actually met a chick at that bar that lived in the high rise apartment building next door. She was going to this year long coding boot camp program so we were able to nerd out. One of the many facets of my game. 🤓

We went over to this spooky speak easy bar which I forget exactly what the name of it was.

I got to talk to that bar tender about Tulsa and overall he likes it because the traffic doesn't get too bad but there ends up being a decent nightlife.

After that my new friend Courtney and I decided to get high. She had some weed. I get very philosophical when I get high and she agreed with my point of view.

We went up to her apartment and hung out some more. 🥳

The next morning she had to go to class and when I rolled out I decided to check out The University of Tulsa campus. It looked nice and I drove around some of the neighborhoods to look at the housing and the type of construction that was used.

One thing I noticed is it is like a lot of the trees seem to have stunted growth compared to what you see in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana probably because there isn't as much rain in the summer.

I rolled out of there wondering if I could be a big fish in a small pond in a place like Tulsa. In 2022 I have been coast to coast and a lot of cities are in huge bubble territory compared to Tulsa.

Personally I wouldn't move there if I didn't get the $10,000 grant.

I feel that with the grant and the lower housing prices that are unlikely to lose 50% of their value it could make sense. It is probably one of the last places with around a million or more people that doesn't seem to be totally blown out with mentally unstable social justice Warriors. Maybe I'm wrong though. Anyone else had experience with Tulsa?

Also I saw this Tesla that had a matte orange wrap.

Do you guys think I could be a King in Tulsa?

Sounds like you cannot find your place. What would make you happy? I am just simply curious.

It has to be a city that is big enough to have things going on and enough attractive women to pick from. I really need to be in a fairly conservative place with women who grew up out in the smaller towns. A lot of these cities are full of super crazy liberal women.

There are many conservative places in my country (in Hungary), but I do not know about the women. I mean there are a lot of women in many cities and in many villages. Most of them look beautiful on the outside (it may be just the looks), but other than that I do not know them. The population in Budapest (the capital of Hungary) is around 1.70 million. The other cities has much less population, but I do not know how conservative they are, compared to any city in the USA.

Yeah it is hard to tell how different it is. Everyone has Instagram now so I feel like every country is getting really warped from what it used to be. Do you feel like a lot more people are just single now in Hungary or are there still a high percentage of people getting married and having kids?

The number of marriages increased a lot in the previous decade. Even in the previous years. The number of divorces decreased only a little.

There is a public national statistics about this in Hungarian.

Translation: Év: Year, Házasságkötések: Marriages, Válások: Divorces, száma: number, ezer lakosra: out of a thousand people).

Generally I see a lot of children, even in small villages. And most of them look happy.

Mmmm, that is interesting that the marriage rates have been going up like that. I wonder what caused that. In the United States it hasn't been looking good with over 50% of women who are 30 years old or older are unmarried with no kids.

Good question. Nowadays I see many happy couples, often with multiple kids. Probably they have a good and stable financial income to be able to afford to start a family. But people can have various reasons why they start or why they do not start a family.

I am currently 30 years old, but I am happy if I can give enough food to my Harris's hawk and to myself. Financially I would not be able to feed kids. My income is below the local minimum wage. But I am very happy with my Harris's hawk. She is family for me. Even if the 99% of the people do not accept it.

I have not found a rent, where people would allow me with my Harris's hawk, but one of the friends of my brother allowed me to live in one of his houses with my Harris's hawk. So I do not even want to get married, nor to have a child. I am very happy with my Harris's hawk.
