Valentine’s day is quickly approaching, a day dreaded by singles and lonleys across the nation. Believe me, i know. I’ve been there.
But who’s to say that Valentine’s day is a holiday to only be celebrated by those in romantic relationships?
If you google the definition of “Valentines Day” the provided definition is “February 14, a day when it is traditional to send a card, often anonymously, to a person one is romantically involved with or attracted to:”
However, when I come to think of Valentine’s day, the first thing that pops into my mind is LOVE.
With that said, there is a great difference between love and infatuation and attraction.
Growing up, every Valentine’s day, my father would bring me home flowers and some form of chocolate. I looked forward to it every single year. I always felt so happy and special to know that on a day known for romance, my dad did not forget to think of me.
Any relationship, romantic or not, deserves recognition on valentine’s day.
Valentine’s day is a holiday where you show a little extra to those you care about; whether that be your mom, dad, brother, sister, cousin, aunt, friend, anyone.
