I am probably 99% vegan. I am probably a covert vegan in that I don't really announce it to anyone. The reason for this is because people discriminate against vegans, especially male vegans, so I keep it quiet. It's fairly easy to eat a mostly vegan diet covertly. I often bring my own lunch to work and often focus on the health benefits of a plant-based diet when explaining why I don't eat meat. For example, if you cook meat, it creates carcinogens called polyaromatic hydrocarbons and polycyclic amines.
Thank you for that input. I do notice the hate that vegans get. People's angry reactions to vegan diets is evidence that they know it's better for them. They don't want it to be true, but it is. So they get angry when a vegan is present because it reminds them.
I'm open about my diet here, but not anywhere else besides my parents' house, since they're already vegan.
My sister for example, would be pissed if I asked her to give up meat like the rest of our family did. lol
