RE: Ecency waves Oct 19

Okay Wavers… What is the best way to use Ecency points?

Is it better to promote or boost?

I would love to know your thoughts…

Sort:

Both ways work.
And it depends on what the post is all about and what you want.

It's best to promote if you want many users to see it, this is awesome with contest post.
Seen often and gives people opportunity to participate.

Boost, when you want to get some votes.

Awesome, thanks for that!

You are welcome

I like to boost people who are doing a good project, or are a smaller account/have smaller upvotes on their post. I've never tried promote before. 😅

I would say it depends on the goal.
Do you want to grow? Boost.
Want others to see your post? Promote.

Want to help others? Boost/Promote :D

I will have to start using it and build up points on my projects like @blocktunes and @hivehustlers to use to help others. My points I want for me, lol.

If you have points on @thelogicaldude then you can use those points for @blocktunes and @hivehustler without a problem :D

I also use the majority of points on myself, no shame there :D

I get that, but I'll let those accounts earn their own points, lol. But really I have to pay the bills for all of it and right now this is my only income at the moment other than trading so gotta squeeze everything I can out of it, lol.

Alright. I hope you make enough here for it to be sustainable long term!

I was going to sugguest slowly build up a HBD savings balance for that 20% APR, but thats easy to say when I don't need crypto to survive x)

Boosting is what I prefer on image and video posts.

Mmm.
I would say use them the way you like

haha, but I hear you...

Clever 😉.

My favorite way is to donate to communities so they can use them as contest prizes, or to tip posts. Everyone who enters the Shadow Contest receives a Points tip.
I also like to give 150 point boosts to newbies or anyone I want to see getting a bigger vote!

I have a large delegation at Ecency, so I receive a lot of Points each day. That makes it easy to be generous. 😊

I am earning mine. Need all my Hive power for my projects.

Promote is best, unless you're using your boost to support smaller creators, no one likes a self-booster!

did you know you can also use those points via the sloth.buzz interface?

What is wrong with self-boosting? I mean I earn the points, why can't I boost my own post? Just asking...

It's fine to self boost. When I am curating, if Ecency voting power is low I sometimes refund points for boosts on posts that have already received a large amount of rewards or on large boost requests. Boosting at 150 points assures you a better chance of receiving a boost.

Personally, we don't mind, from the general Hive community, we've seen a lot of people equating it to 'buying upvotes' which tends to be frowned upon. I guess each to their own. We still prefer using our points to boost and promote others and help them grow on Hive.

That's cool, and I'll do that on my other projects like @blocktunes and @hivehustlers, but I feel I have earned these, which Hive is my business, so I need to get the most out of it that I can.

So I guess promote it is for this account seems like.

We'd love to hear more about them and follow the updates, you could consider using the #slothbuzz tag on future posts! !SLOTH

@thelogicaldude! Your post is buzzing, you were tipped 0.01 on behalf of @slothbuzz. and consider sharing your post there or using the #slothbuzz next time

I'll give you a follow and check it out

Self boosting is perfectly acceptable, especially for smaller accounts that are trying to grow.

We'd mostly agree with that, as long as no one is 'abusing' the system. Of course, others are free to have their own opinions too, every sloth has to find their own buzz.

Abusers are no longer allowed to earn points.
