Walking around my yard...

#Wednesdaywalk with @tattoodjay

The best part of my Wednesday Walk is that the summertime birds have begun to return to Wisconsin this week and my woods have come alive with color and bird song.

imageBaltimore Oriole

The Orioles are bright and flashy, but I think the shy and gentle catbird is my favorite.

Things have finally begun to grow and the yard has begun to look green and a bit more colorful.

Heavy rain is predicted for later today, and it appears that everyone is out looking for food before the rain begins.

Nice collection of colorful photos! The cardinal looks unworried, but that squirrel seems pensive.

It has been raining since the wee hours, here.

Thanks! The rain has begun here now, too. I don't know where we can put another inch and three quarters that they are predicting.

At last rainy weather is over and you have a nice spring day for a walk! And for shadows... )))
Those close-up shots of birds all are fabulous!

It has begun raining again. I'm glad you like the bird pictures! I was happy with how they turned out.

Same as here, +10 again 🌧
But northern people say there is no bad weather, just bad cloth ☺

There is a lot of truth in that!

Beautiful photos of your walk! You have some amazing birds in your neighborhood that I never get to see. We don't have any kind of oriole over here, at least not that I know of. And that cardinal! I'm glad you had a dry moment to go out and get those shots. You could send some of your rain over this way. We need it!

We have two kinds of orioles right now... I will do a post about them later. They do brighten my yard all summer.
We are getting ridiculous amounts of rain. An inch and three quarters is predicted for today and they have flood warnings out.

We're supposed to be rainy until early July, but we've had very little. It's been beautiful and sunny, but our house is on spring water so if we don't get enough rain, we run out of water! Put all your fans in the yard pointing West! Haha!

What a delightful post to see beautiful birds lovely spring growth and colors

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Thanks so much! Grabbing a few photos in between rain storms is a challenge! Thanks for the resteem.

I bet it was a challenge but you did it 👍😎👍

Awww, I can imagine how the birds are singing.

It is a delight to hear them, especially after our long silent winter.

One of most divine bird song I have ever heard is the one of the nightingale.

I heard one sing one time when I was in Portugal. It was the most beautiful and amazing sound I had ever heard.

Wow. Your yard is full of life. Very nice share. I do wish to see a cardinal in the reals one day. We don't have them on the West coast:)

If you want to come to Wisconsin and sit out on my deck with me I can guarantee you a cardinal or 6.

Wow ... they love you:)

Or maybe it's just the sunflower seeds that I put in the feeder.....

Perfect. Long ago my little one didn't see this beautiful little bird. It's really nice tonight to see your post.
Thanks for this My friend

There are so many different birds all around the world! I love watching the ones that come into my yard

beautiful bird and nature.

Thank you! I'm happy you liked them!

Lovely pictures. The woods are coming alive. Jolly good!

Finally! It's been a long winter this year. It's still cold and wet, but at least now there is hope!

Great bird captures!!
Feeders work wonders for that.

Thanks! Providing good habitat along with the feeders keep them around to enjoy!

I really loved this post and photos Melinda!! The birds are a joy even though I live in Baltimore and have never seen an Oriole (besides the baseball team)..lol. The critters are cute and made me smile and all of the plants are lovely...btw...I spy that photo-bombing ant on the daffodil. ;)

Thanks! I didn't see that ant until I was posting the picture. Funny how they can hide when you are focusing in with the camera.
Do you have tall trees in your neighborhood? If you do put out a oriole feeder with some grape jelly in the dish and you will get Orioles. I guarantee they will find it!

You are welcome! Yep..I know just what you mean!
Cool to know! I will have to try that..thank you! :)

Squirrels are my biggest problem. I have a couple really great oriole feeders, but I can't use them without the squirrels getting into them and wrecking them. The one I am using now is up in front of the living room window. There are so many right now that they are eating me out of house and home!

The squirrels here like fried chicken so I can just imagine how much they would love some grape jelly..lol. I looked up an Oriole feeder as I have never seen one before. I may have to look into getting one now.

It would certainly be worth a try! If they are anywhere near they will find it!

Happy Wednesday to you too.
Weather is nicer then last month. At least you can go outside and enjoy the day. Spring has arrived in your yard. :)

Now if the temperatures would just warm up! It has not gotten out of the 40s today.

Really. Its been warmer here. Pretty nice actually. Not to warm. I went outside and looked at some turtles in a T-shirt. Very comfortable.
Its raining like hell now

Yeh, it's still coat weather here. I think you must be further south than I am.

Yea I am in south Kansas, Wichita not to far west of I35

Much further south, but I think many of your weather patterns track this way. I'm 150 miles north of Chicago.

Wow I didn’t think you were that far north. Yea its a stream comming from the gulf.
Then it goes to Europe hahaha

Wow! Melinda, these photos are absolutely gorgeous!!! And those birds and animals are so adorable. Great shots of the flowers are too......by the way thanks for the name of the blue ones. They are one of the first flowers here as well and I took some photos, but I didn't know their name 🌸😉🌸

Thanks so much! In your part of the world Vinca may be called Periwinkle. I think that is the English name for them. Mine are beginning to look quite lovely... They do not seem to mind all this rain and cold temps!

Oh yes Periwinkle!I just Googled it and it's true. Thank so much Melinda. They are very lovely flowers and don't mind the crazy weather here neither 😍

I am trying to get a new patch of them started along the drive where it is too shady for grass to grow. They look like they are doing pretty well!

Oh, I didn't know they like shade. The area where I always photograph them has lots of sun.

I think it depends on the variety? The one I have is a perennial called vinca major and it prefers shade and will even grow in dense shade. It does well on the north side of my house. There are also annual varieties and varieties that need to be in the sun.

That's interesting, because that is exactly the one that we have here. I think it grows from the other side of the fence of the property next to the side walk. Most likely, it is in the shade on the other side, but it keep growing even on the sun. I that case it will be doing well by the driveway.

That's lovely. Seeing the birds and spring flowers makes me happy. It looks like your season is a couple of weeks ahead of mine. I might get a daffodil next week but those periwinkles are still far off.

Thanks! Wishing all of us a nice warm week! Soon!

Your camera work is getting better and better all the time. The birds looks great. Nice and sharp. U+R

Thanks so much! I make no claims at being a photographer, so I am always happy when one turns out OK.

Join the club. At least we are learning something new every day that we practice on our photography skills.

I've decided to take more time on each shot and improve the photo and to shoot less.
I usually shoot over a 100 shots on a shoot but find most are not good enough for me and wouldn't post them.

So I'm slowing down and taking the time to get a few things right.

You are a photographer. I simply take pictures. My camera is almost always set on auto. I just have no interest in getting into all the technicalities of shooting pictures. Smart cameras are a blessing!

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I am still learning new things about this camera every time I use it.

I'm pretty far from being a photographer but I do love all the technicalities and options...when they work that is 😂

On the photos you show us you certainly are making it work!

Thanks Mel, like you. I get lucky sometimes too. 😋

A beautiful walk my dear. Finally more colors and birds😊

Finally.... It sure was a long winter this year!

Yes. I am so happy for you. The spring finally arrives 🌻💛

I really love seeing your birds!

I do get some lovely visitors this time of year!

You do! Most of them i've never seen before :)

I've had a couple stop by this spring that I have never seen before!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

How cool is that! :)

Well, I didn't try to copy but my walk for Wednesday was around our yard, too! Must be a Wisconsin thing? So exciited about spring!

Your birds are beautiful. And the cute, busy squirrels...they are everywhere.

Love the blooms!

A lot of my walks are in my yard... there are not many other places I can get to in 5 minutes! 😂I'll be over to look at yours.

How lovely!
So many animals and birds live in the wild, not in the zoo!
It makes me happy!
I liked the Chipmunk.
We do not meet such :-)

And the birds are incredible!
Thank you for the wonderful photos.

Congratulations @melinda010100!

Howdy Melinda! oh my gosh these are gorgeous pictures, you have such a wonderful variety of birds coming to visit you!

Thanks! I am delighted to see these guys! I was just out in the yard trying to get a decent photo of the female, but so far no luck.

They are wonderful and you got such great photos, those close up ones are remarkable! But, I'm sure it takes patience.

You are lucky to be able to photographs these little creatures.... lovely images.

I am lucky, but sometimes I envy people who are able to walk around in the city and get all those wonderful kinds of photos. I'm afraid people get tired of seeing my trees and birds and rodents!

Awesome bird photos, Melinda. The squirrel and chipmunk are alert looking. Chipmunks are so cute but I find they are scared of people. There is one here but I can’t get a photo of him. 🐿

My daughter has the chipmunks here very tame! lzlnmpsi8t.jpg

Amazing , how tame she has the chipmunk. ♥️

She did spend a lot of time getting them to be tame, but then the mamas just started teaching the babies and she has tons of them that come running right up to her. I have to be careful when I go out in the yard on my scooter that I don't run over somebody!

Nice bird shots. I heard some orioles singing but wasn't able to get a shot. Hopefully i can spot a Rose-breasted grosbeak this year. They have a really nice song.

Orioles and grosbeaks take over my yard during the summer. They are constant residents. I've been getting some decent photos and will post them soon.

What time do the grosbeaks arrive?

Posted using Partiko Android

What time of year? They were among the first back. I have a photo from May 4th, but it seems they were here before that.
