Welcome to the fourth edition of [Whisky Club Tasting]. Today with Glen, our Scottish friend from Dufftown/ Banfshire. "Hello, Glen"
The distillery where Glen comes from was built in 1886 by William Grant. The name Glenfiddich comes from the Gaelic (celtic language) and means "Valley of the Deer". The whiskies from Dufftown are the most awarded whiskies in the world.

Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky12 years
Glen was matured in spanish Oloroso sherry and american bourbon casks for twelve years. For their whiskies they only take fresh mountain water out of their own spring. The whisky matures all the time in the warehouses of the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown.
For me the Glenfiddich 12 years is the best drinking whisky I ever had. Very tasty and quite affordable.
Taste
The whisky smells very fruity and malty.
Because this whisky matured in spanish sherry and american bourbon casks the whisky tastes very soft and a bit sweet. You can taste notes of pear and oak. Another aspect why this whisky is so soft is that the air is very humid in Dufftown and so a lot of alcohol evaporates during the maturing process.
Optic
Because of the caramel coloring the whisky has a great golden color.
The Glenfiddich Single Malt 12 years is a standard whisky for around $ 30 per bottle. It is the perfect gift for a novice for an successful incrementalism. I bet you heard of it before ;)
