I started to use Linux also, after I have made a dual boot on my PC. I often switch between them, but I find Windows more straight forward in a lot of areas, including programming for the technologies that I use at work. Having a second OS is simply fun :D
Is Linux fully functional for web browsing or do you experience problems with some websites. I would like to get rid of the windows crap because of these constant updates but I am afraid that Linux might not pass certain "standards" or "security requirements" like for online banking and there is not much of a choice anymore...
From the security point of view, you have nothing to worry about. Linux is more secure than Windows. This is why many servers are using it as operating system. And right now, Linux has a great progress, and a lot less issues of stability than it used to have. You should not have any problems with drivers or anything like that because it detects them automatically, and from the performance point of view, it is way much better optimized than Windows. I am using it for a couple of months and it is running as well as it did in the first day, even though I have installed a lot of programs on it.
And another important part is that it is free. You can chose to donate, but you don't have to pay anything for a complete version of it. I have installed Ubuntu and I wanted to donate, but I needed paypal for that so I made them a suggestion to accept donations in crypto also ;))
Thank you my friend for your answer, I think I will give it a shot. I am not so worried about security because we are all f@cked in this department anyway, but I thought online banking sites like Wells Fargo might give me trouble if I am outside the mainstream standard and I don't want to switch operating systems just for some stupid online banking. Cheers mate!
I haven't used online banking on Linux, but a friend of mine has used it on my computer and made plenty of payments without any problem by now, so I guess it is working well, at least with Mozilla on Ubuntu.
I hope you will be happy with it, I am really curious how it will turn out!
Thanks mate, highly appreciated!
