I was the second witness to update (after drakos I believe), but I still don't think this should be how people select their witnesses. There is a LOT more to this role then just upgrading software, and there are valid reasons to not upgrade everyone at once.

This is an optional release, and some are waiting until more testing has been done before upgrading their main witness nodes - they shouldn't be punished for being cautious imo ..

19.2 is more than just optional, its not even necessary in certain circumstances. Sure, it improves P2P stability, but my main witness node is behind a firewall infrastructure and P2P is limited to my own pathway. The upgrade to 19.2 only needed to be done on my externally-addressable nodes -- which I did.

You can check out the release notes here. Consensus hasn't changed, the latest upgrade is just for P2P stability. This is specifically best for seed nodes, which create the P2P "spine" of the network, connecting the whole ecosystem together. Witness nodes are more of the "brain".

In my case, my witness isn't directly accessible via incoming P2P or even SSH connections. It's locked out. So while I could upgrade, it has zero effect and I see no need to reboot.

Your witness node connects ONLY to your seed nodes using VLAN or another private, low latency network solution of your choice. All other incoming/outgoing connections should be blocked except for the secure shell, preferably limited to access only from your IPs.

Upgrades that change consensus will of course be necessary -- but this one isn't about that. As @ausbitbank says, there's a lot more to this role than just upgrading software. ;)

Hasn't 19.2 already proven quite stable since its release or why has the majority of witnesses already upgraded their systems without further complaints?

And out of curiosity:
Ain't it possible for something similar to the bandwidth problem which happened around 2 months ago when not enough witnesses were upgrading to 19.1 to occur again?

Again, I really appreciate and love your and all witnesses' dedication to the community and I am looking forward to getting a bigger understanding about that topic.
