Fantasy Novel Reveal: Title, Log Line, Cover Art, and more! (Steemit gets the FIRST LOOK)

in #writing6 years ago

Steemit, you are being treated, because you are seeing this before ANYONE ELSE ANYWHERE else does. The time has come for me to reveal to you information regarding my Fantasy novel that I will be publishing later this year.

Let's start with the obvious beautiful dragon that my cover artist has literally painted for me. Sophie Brunet is a friend of the family, the daughter of one of my mother's best friends, and she will be painting all my book cover images. Sophie knew about this project for ages and knew I wanted her to do my cover for a long time. It felt surreal to finally come to this point in time to actually do it. When we had our meeting, I gave her a few notes regarding what I wanted: the dragon swooping down towards my five main characters on the Hills. And she delivered a spectacular scene. This image is actually a recreation (more or less) of a scene in the book (so this is a hint to an upcoming event within the story itself). I will be sharing more about my characters in the future, in another post, but do notice how they are standing (hint-hint, nudge-nudge, wink-wink). I LOVE this painting and I am so happy that Sophie was able to be my artist.

All right, so on to the title reveal, which you can guess from the watermark on the image haha Okay, so the series is called (drum roll):

Stardust Destinies for website.jpg

This particular one is the first of five, from this quintology. Book 1 is titled:

Stardust Destinies I: Variate Facing

Here are a few credits that will be present on the cover once I've completed it:

Written by Celinka Serre (That's me.)
Edited by Marg Gilks (An amazing editor, if anyone is looking for a fiction editor in Canada.)
Cover art by Sophie Brunet (So happy to know her and call her a friend.)
Published by Binky Ink (A division of Binky Productions.)

So now, I leave you with the Log Line for Stardust Destinies I: Variate Facing.

Prompted by a cryptic message, five polcs secretly leave Teloria
to embark on a journey to discover many truths.
It is dangerous, in this time of war, and soon, our five heroes
find themselves travelling to farther lands than they had anticipated,
where they discover their Stardust Destinies.

@binkyprod just browsing around and saw your post, beautiful artwork by your cover artist! Beautiful color combination and easy for the eyes to see. Is this traditional medium of art like acrylic or digital? I do digital artwork myself but also exploring other art mediums for my own life journey. It's cool to see what others are doing haha. Looking forward to more posts. Upvote your post to support. Hope we can stay connected and support each other's posts!

Thanks :) It was paint that the she used. I'm not sure if it was acrylic or oil paint. She really has a talent for paintings and she was able to make adjustments by painting on a few more colours in various places to blend things.

@binkyprod thanks! Yeh it's a beautiful painting there haha! :)

This appeared serendipitously (if that is a word) in my feed just as I am beginning to explore magical realism and urban fantasy. If you have any suggestions for further reading in these two sub genres i would be grateful.

Yes, that is a real word ;)

Let's see, in the fantasy genre, there are the Tolkien books: The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I would also recommend The Children of Hurin.

Tolkien was a great inspiration for me when I was writing Stardust Destinies, so it gives you an idea of the point of view I'm writing it in and a bit of the genre.

If you like magic stuff, I'd say the Harry Potter books (actually quite different in book form than the films).

If you like Star Wars, a lot of the books that come after the Return of the Jedi are excellent. While it takes place in a sci-fi-ish galaxy, the Force and Jedi present a fantastical aspect that's unique and some of those books are better than the actual films (the originals even).

Although I did not read the books, I hear Eragon is excellent.

I would also suggest any novel written about the Arthurian legend and Merlin.

That gives you a hefty list of books to choose from while you wait for mine to come out :p

Thank you! The children of Hurin is new to me I'll have a look :) (Whilst waiting for your book to come out!)
