Yosu has been trying to get the Hospital officials to make a plan for correcting deficiencies and improving patients’ life; he has told them about Steemit, @Reveur and @YouAreHope, but hadn’t been able to get far with “speaking”, as in Venezuela, many are who say they would do, but never actually accomplish a thing…
So one day, he got fed up with all the grimness and despair that he breathed in this place everyday and got all his STEEM savings out and bought some very needed supplies for the hospital and it’s patients.
When we tell you about what they are, you will not believe the conditions these people survive in day after day…

1. Yosu bought 2 locks to secure the Confinement area where they keep suicidal and aggressive patients.
This has earned this useless thing the name of "psychological lock".
Take a look for yourself:

Now, thanks to @yosuandoni, they have actual locks. The safety of the patients and the nurses is no longer a matter of luck.

We are sure everyone feels safer now, knowing they are actually protected.

2. Yosu also bought 10 sturdy plastic bowls to serve the daily meals to the patients (because they were being served in their hands).
This is difficult for us to process, as they currently have around 20 patients in this hospital, and they were ALL eating from the palms of their hands.
Now at least they can eat in batches, 10 at a time, and be served in a bowl.
Yosu only bought 10 bowls because that's what he could afford. Surely we got you thinking about utensils now? ...because these people don't even have spoons!

When @yosuandoni came to the Hospital with these supplies, he finally got the attention of the officials. He requested a formal receipt document for the goods provided, and he got the sub-director's assurance that they would work hard on making an inventory of needs, and a plan to cover them.

Yosu has started to raise funds for this endeavor.

The @reveur team has coached him on how to frame and present his project, and will do a weekly follow up on progress and execution until the goals have been reached and a transparent account of the funds utilized is presented.
Phase 1 with the following needs:For now, and until the Hospital officials finalize the planning exercise, @yosuandoni has frame
- Reinforce the welding on the metal doors of the Confinement secion (these doors have several weak points)
- Add a coat of protecting paint to these doors, to extend their service life.
- Supply the remaining bowls for food distribution, so each patient can have one bowl and meal time can be done in one batch.
- Supply the Hospital with food serving utensils and cutterly.

Its good to know that some steemers still have this kind of contribution helping each other out. I know there are more of them who can contribute more but sadly some prefer to keep it for themselves...
I am very happy @yosuandoni, and I also thank all our friends who support this project selflessly. Bravo @mvelazco great post
I worked for a short time in a mental hospital (Ancora in New Jersey) as an orderly after a short hiatus from Marine Corps Active Duty in the 1980s. The job of all staff is a difficult one I can tell you, from personal experience. I worked on a ward for the criminally insane. I empathize with @yosuandoni in the terrible conditions inherent in these institutions.
The facility where I worked had much better resources in the way of security and patient care, but it could have been better. Folks like @yosuandoni have a very difficult job, and believe me, the pay is not why people remain in this vocation (mental health care).
G-D bless you @yosuandoni for your selflessness in the care of your charges. You are to be commended and I wish you blessings for all that you have done, and the thankless job you do everyday.
What you say about the salary not being the reason people work in these places you are absolutely right. In Venezuela the minimum wage is 2 usd/month, and the cost of the basic foods basket is around 400 usd, so I was beyond impressed (and worried) when Yosu told us he had used his savings to buy these supplies.
You will hear more from this young man, as he has advanced on this project already, and he fibnally has the support of the hospital officials. God bless you.Thank you for such kind comments and support. I've been part of the coaching team helping @yosuandoni and can tell you that he has a heart of gold.
I thank you for the blessing and wish you the same. It is folks like this that need our support even though they will not ask for themselves, but will for others.
Thank you @mvelazco you are a good person, with a good heart and a great desire to help.
Thank you for your beautiful words, they are a support to never give up.
Amigo @sgt-dan is a very valuable person to the whole community.
And thanks to @youarehope and @reveur for their continued support.
And thanks to all those who help to ensure that these projects continue.
When You are Hope calls I go and give my upVote as support as always.
What an incredible story! It is hard for me to even imagine those conditions, I am such a "spoiled American." The truth is, even with lovely facilities and full staff, the mentally ill in this nation are not really much better off. A psych nurse that cares so much about his patients deserves MUCH support, I hope the fine folks of steemit come through!
You are doing some great work. I wish you best of luck. 100% upvoted and resteemed.
