An Eternal Tribute of Hope and Inspiration...

Thought processing for a post got somewhat derailed today as I received some really tragic news. The one young guy that worked for me committed suicide last night. The news of this hit me quite hard because I know the depths of the depression he tried to cope with on a daily basis. As much as I was his employer, I did as much as I could for him as a friend too for the time that he was a part of our team. I realised his troubles pretty early on, and we grew quite close via chat as he told me I was the only truly objective person he had to turn to. I stepped forwrd into his space as much as I could in order to try and keep him from falling down the pit I saw him constantly lingering over. Despite his very apparent sadness and disconnect from society in general, I employed him because I saw SO much potential in him and I was right! He was an absolutely INCREDIBLE youngster. Dedicated beyond belief and when you managed to get him to smile and "let go" with the rest of the team - it was wonderfully rewarding. He had an incredibly unhappy home life from what I learnt and I think coming to work everyday with us was in many ways a saving grace to him... but then I closed the business and he lost that escape. It is so tragic that such a young individuals are troubled to a degree that they feel the only answer is to take their own life.

This news really left me feeling quite hollow, but I have decided instead to try and turn that around and respectfully say my own personal goodbye to him as well as to try and create a ripple effect of positivity, love, compassion and inspiration in tribute to him and as a beacon of light for anybody else out there who may be feeling alone, lonely, sad, abandoned, frustrated, depressed, or simply in need of some upliftment.

I would like to turn this post into one of ENDLESS reach!

If you would like to be a part of this, Please share your most powerful and POSITIVE quotes, words of wisdom, encouragement, reassurance, etc. in the comments

I will add all the truly empowering words of wisdom to this actual post as and when they come in - and it can just keep on travelling indefinitely - adding more and more HOPE to those that need it.

I will start with my choice...

“The only way to get what you really want, is to know what you really want. And the only way to know what you really want, is to know yourself. And the only way to know yourself, is to be yourself. And the only way to be yourself is to listen to your heart.” ― Mike Dooley

Looking forward to adding all of yours too...

Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

WHO ARE THE

Power House Creatives _night mode.png

The Power House Creatives is a discord community of individuals who are committed to producing content which adds value across multiple platforms. We are STRONGLY focused on supporting our fellow members individual growth as well as offering support to those that are still trying to get ahead. We are a CLOSE KNIT community of individuals, each with our own strengths, passions and input, yet ALL willing to go the extra mile for our family members... WHY? - because, simply put - we CARE about one another and MANY HANDS make light work! - THAT is what FAMILY is about! - To infinity and beyond...

INTERESTED IN JOINING THE PHC FAMILY?

As most of you already know our community is closed. This does not mean that we are trying to keep people out or that we ignore those who aren’t members – it simply means that we are focused on keeping our standards of content high and our member commitment higher. I think if nothing else, we have proven those two qualities to the Steemisphere over the last year and even more so in the last seven days.

I am not going to sugar-coat things for anybody, because it would not make any sense whatsoever, nor would it serve anybody fruitfully - long-term. Our community is incredibly proactive - and DRIVING the success and growth of the people within it is our FUNDAMENTAL PURPOSE, because this is how they are able to do the same in return for other individuals in communities beyond our own! Our reach extends WAY beyond our own walls and this is one of the primary reasons why it is important to ALL OF US that each of our members are able to hold our flag high wherever they may roam.

We work hard, we play hard - we support one another through thick and thin, we know whats going on in our "3D" lives and no matter what it is - we are there for each other! Yes, there are daily responsibilities and obligations. Yes, there are things that fly within our walls and things that definitely don’t. Yes, we require quite a bit from you as an individual but you get it tenfold in return and ANY ONE of our members will gladly testify to this. Absolutely EVERYTHING is catered for and considered… including those times when you will NOT be able to fulfill your obligations. It simply requires the following of our procedures, which once you have grasped – are not complicated at all - I promise.

Everybody in our community jokes about my “boot” because they know that there are certain things that never were and never will be tolerated within our walls… and when they surface, those people will very quickly meet my infamous “boot” sending them out the door – or at least showing them that it is open. A few such things would be the likes of: not doing what you promised to do when joining, not being a team player, plagiarism, spamming, causing trouble with other members etc. These are all no-brainers really, so should not be much of a shock or challenge to anyone who is actually on Steemit (or any other platform) to make it a better place for everyone!

We may be a relatively small collective, but we have approx. 118 members from over 30 countries and that continues to grow. Most of our members are also key players in some of Steemits other highly regarded and supportive discord communities and initiatives - and all of us at “home” know without question or doubt that every single one of our members will make us proud with whatever they do – wherever they go – and that is precisely how we intend to keep it. Simple as that! No, this kind of “ethos” does not work for everyone – and that is perfectly fine - Each to their own. The people who have done the “putting in” are the ones that understand what they “get out” of it all ;)

So, if I have not scared you away yet, or if the above info excites you (even better) and you would still like to put in an application to join our fantabulous and VERY crazy little family… then by all means – hop into our applications server and do the necessary.

YEAH BABY YEAH - I WANT TO APPLY

That is so tragic and seems, at least here, to be way too common especially with younger folks. There is so much that is beautiful in our world, yet so much sadness as well. So sorry for this loss.

I'm sorry @jaynie...

It may not be exactly "motivational," but a very long time ago Socrates observed that "Death may be the greatest of all human blessings."

I read your words with a slightly sad sense of... "yeah, I know..." because it seems we're tuned into the same Universal Channel; a friend with a terminal illness took her own life (legally) yesterday and today I was part of an intervention into a different friend's heroin addiction.

The world feels a little like it is ripping at the seams, at the moment... wish I could offer something more positive.

Hugs from afar...

Oh I am so sorry, @jaynie. What a sad time for you, and for everyone in his circle. That breaks my heart.

I’m at a bit at a loss for what thought to share, as these kinds of things are just so devastating. But I think everything in this life can be some kind of gift, if we are not hurting too deeply to be open to it. Difficult experiences, losses and even abuse can be the catalyst for becoming better, stronger and more resilient. We must foster hope and forgiveness, make sure we have dreams to believe in, lean on those who care when times are hard, and use challenges as step ladders to better things.

So tragic and I can relate as I have had multiple people I knew growing up and had great silly times with have taken their own lives as well. It is so difficult for me to imagine being in such a bad place that not being alive seems preferable to carrying on :(

I hope you have good days in the future.

This is terrible and tragic news. I do hope that through your sharing this that others appreciate how difficult and how real depression is. It is a disease missed, undiagnosed and misunderstood. Often. Strength to you and his family.

Sorry for the loss. Life can be such a struggle sometimes, but the only thing that we can change is the future. In my eyes, it isn't worth letting the past get to you, because those events are what gave everyone the strength to be who they are today.

I still feel so sad about this -this quotation comes to mind:

"But what if I should find that I myself am the enemy - that the enemy is within me that needs to be loved - what then?"

Oh Jaynie! I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your young friend!
The only thing I can say is that everything in life is impermanent and everything will pass away. Your deep dark depressions will pass away too, and we can only hope that there is some beacon of light that can guide folks through.
Thanks for being this beacon of light!
I hope it will shine on to those dark corners to prevent these tragic deaths!

So sorry to hear this @jaynie! It's never easy to lose someone, especially a young person with so much pain. There still seems to be a lot of stigma about mental illness. Top that with shit for access to the much-needed care it is a recipe for disaster for too many. One of my dearest clients (and closest friends) is a well-respected local psychiatrist. He is tireless in his work to advocate for better mental health care. I am so proud to be his friend and I continue to learn so much from him.

This is incredibly beautiful !!

Sorry to hear of your loss Jaynie, suicide is a terrible solution to any problem. Is this in Cape Town and is it substance-related? I remember the infestation of bad substances in the Cape and all over the country among the youth.

No major words of motivation or inspiration except those from Bhagavad Gita which say that the souls is neither cut by weapon or withered by the wind. It is eternal, not slain when the body is slain. The soul carries on.

Dear @jaynie,

I am so sorry for your lost. I know that I am not really in any position to give "words of wisdom" but, I just want to tell everyone out there: if you do not feel right/comfortable with any situation or anything that you do, you should find a voice to say so. Speaking up and telling someone about it helps ALOT.

And, another thing that worked for me, consciously make the choice to walk out of anything that weighs you down. It might me a grudge, frustration, anger, hatred or, unresolved issues in the past. It might really be difficult at first but, eventually, you'll get there. Just make the choice to stop feeling victimized, hurt, betrayed, aggravated, used or whatever negative way you felt.

It is my belief, that nothing ever really "ends"... it just becomes... something else.

The wind in our hair... wonderful smells from afar, those "goosebumps" saying... I'm here waiting for you

I am truly sorry to hear of this and send nothing but positive energy, and healing love, your way...and to all touched by this.

It is not length of life, but depth of life.
