I think Steem will be the best social media platform within next 10 years.
Along with #1 cryptocurrency also while nearly all of the others will disappear!
" In my humble opinion, no. It isn't even anywhere close. "
-Enough said...
-And I agree in Full, nothing comes close to Steemit in terms of features, benefits or concept.
Agreed. Also the quality of the community. I encounter very few negative people on here which is nice.
It is normal for steem to be on a totally different level since it's been out for a lot longer and already has this nice community built up. I do find the app a bit slow sometimes but i quite enjoy my run with it even though it has been only a week for now. Thank you for the info and time you've taken to test this new platform.. never even knew it existed! :)
It's easy to forget steemit is just a VIEW of the blockchain. Busy.org, eSteem, SteemDB, ChainBB, and soon Zappl all are other views of the same blockchain. It is more than just the steemit website. Steemit can be slow due to it being just a website and various factors there and you can jump over to busy.org during that time and view the same posts at lightning fast speed. At other times busy may be slow and steemit is rocking it. Steemdb is more for technical information and wouldn't be much fun for casual browsing and use. So what I am getting at is that the steem blockchain is lightning fast. Whichever websites we use can be slow or laggy at a given time, but steem itself is still going a million miles an hour in the background.
This is also an advantage. All of this functionality of the blockchain is not dependent upon steemit. Any number of applications can be built to take advantage of it. So even those competing. They are trying to compete with one website, which is like picking on TV manufacturer to compete with when the amount of TV manufacturers and devices that interact with the blockchain in different ways is potentially infinite.
I describe the blockchain to my children as the file system, or their hard drives. Steemit is just one of the programs they use to open files on that file system. They can use others if they want and it might give other features, show different data, etc.
It is truly an astonishing project and the competitors are not even in the same game. They are playing checkers when we are playing three dimensional chess.
Oh i do know that the blockchain itself is quite fast and pretty good at handling all of the traffic fairly fast and that is quite impressive. I do not think that there will be a big competitor for a long time because of how well established Steemit is.. the Esteem app is what I was referring to as slowish but that has nothing to do with the structure of the system.. just the app itself maybe because of the IOS or other factors. It is always slow on my phone. Didn't know all these other views but I will check them out.
Yeah, it is pretty amazing. I expect to see a lot of things built on top of the steem blockchain. Steemit just happens to be the common hub as it is the one built by the people that created the blockchain. :)
Competitor. Will they affect our payout in the future?
depends on whether users migrate funds from Steem to their token. I wouldn't worry about, as there is plenty of room for growth for both...
Thanks for the useful review.
The important thing here is to know that there will be competition for Steemit.
So, we should not rely on our current success. Instead we should take improving Steemit more seriously.
Steemit has first mover advantage meaning a competitor would have to be 10x times better to stand a chance the way Steem is 10x better than Bitcoin!
mmm... subjective opinion.
I'd absolutely love for this to be proven correct based on price, though!!! :-D
Steemit is second to none
Good to know, I didn't even know there were competitors. Competitors are good, drives steemit to continue to improve!
I wouldn't even call them competitors. Traditional scarcity-minded capitalist folk might. But this territory is a new paradigm. And Akashi doesn't pose any sort of threat to Steemit. Peaceful coexistence is possible and would benefit both more than any sort of competitive spirit.
First time I've heard of an Ethereum/Graphene comparison in a real world app. Interesting finding...!
Thanks for doing this review. I hadn't heard of it.
I like the highlighting editor, but to me the big problem with Ethereum is the cost of gas to transact on the network. I'm assuming this is the case with Akasha as well?
"Free for users" is something Dan has emphasized. In most cases, especially since things have been free for so long, I think it's a necessity for a project to succeed.
Granted users pay with their privacy to use Facebook, Google etc., but Steemit's architecture hopefully has solved that problem. It seems like everybody gets something, instead of all the funds going to somebody like Zuckerberg.
yep, that's definitely a big downfall of Akasha...
This project Akasha do not have future for me. It is not well planned and designed to compete with STEEMIT...
Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of this until you mentioned it.
Steemit is the best of the best!
Big difference. Steemit is the best. But is always good to have Competitor.
didnt know this was already up, when was it launched?, does this works similar to steemit with a reward pool and all?
I'm not sure what their protocol is with rewards. I don't even know if they've really figured that out yet - doesn't appear there is a whitepaper or any sort of documentation where that is clearly laid out.
they do have some sort of voting/rewards structure - though I think it ends up coming out of a person's own account balance. that right there seems like an upfront weakness in comparison to Steemit.
timeline from website:
LOL, that is NOT a competitor to steemit... The whole deal about steemit is that people dont have to give away money with the votes...
yep. quite a big differentiator.
I had never heard of it, but it's ok, I hope it works out, no problem having competition.
Yeah I tried them soon after they released, and mreh, not super impressed. It might be different if thousands of people were using it, though.
Do one for Yours.org next :)
Steemit is still #1, for sure.
ah ha... thanks for the link. I was trying to navigate to yours.network to include mention - though see they changed their homebase...
It's not even in the ballpark of Steem. I checked it out and made a few posts right when it launched, but it didn't stick for me.
Fantastic post, I forgot all about this, downloading the Linux version going to try it out!
Nice!!!!
Great impartial review. Thanks for test driving and reporting. I like Steemit close knit feel and helpful #minnowsupoort project without which I'd flounder in the sea of terminology. Resteemed.
Akasha is not really a money making project, its very different from steemit.
Dude, that was thorough. Nice job man.
"... Hi + GoodMorning @rok-sivante,
thx for the information.
I think the technology will go better and better..."
We are ONE💫
@zeuss11
akasha can not manage to compete with steemit.lets wait for it and see
