Introduce Yourself In The Comments.. Meet Others and Compare Interests.

in #busy5 years ago

I've made this post before, I've just updated it for the following reasons. I keep hearing about these quality minnows we are losing, but I can't find them. We know content and author discovery can be difficult on Steem. So, let's give this a try... Last time almost exactly one year ago, when I made this post it received 253 comments.

Let's see how it does now.

newsteembannery.png

One of the most common complaints I hear from people with young accounts is it is difficult to find a following. I agree it is difficult to find others who might be interested in your posts. Don't feel too bad even those of us who have built an audience are feeling like readers are a bit scare right now.

Let's try this... (I have no idea if it will be effective)

Make a comment giving a short description of who you are and what you write about. I'm not looking for your real-life name, but rather who you are on Steem and what you are about and interested in.

One of the reasons I quit myspace and moved to Facebook was how easy Facebook made it in the early years to find your friends and those who held the same interests. It was a lot more fun to engage with people who I either knew or had shared interests with.

I encourage you (on this post only to) drop a link and a description of yourself in the comments. If you drop one, also find someone else to follow. It is a slightly organized follow4follow post.

I will highlight the 10 introductions that I find the most interesting and there might be bonuses as well.

It's just an experiment, take a minute post about your interests and if you think it might be helpful give it a resteem.

Who knows you might find a new supporter as well.

Meet up in the comment section.

Feel free to invite others to your discord servers as well while you are at it, if you have a curation group please feel free to add those details as well!

Other tips for Authors to Connect on Steem. Join some discords, go to some Steem Shows. Make comments on other's posts.

If you are struggling in the new economy, I want to hear from you, but keep in mind... It is hard to build and keep an Audience and not all posts are going to earn.

By the way, my beginning here was also a challenge. I made 96 posts that didn't earn any rewards and many others that only earned a little.

I play videos games as a hobby and mostly write game reviews. Once in a while, I’ll have some guides and fanfictions as well.

When I’m not writing about Path of Exile of which I have around 50 posts on. You will find I’m mostly a budget gamer who focus on arpg, blockchain, space, and survival games among a couple of other genres.

I have a very in-depth index of some of my better or different works. I am a strong believe content still holds value long after the post has closed. As such I share content even some of my older works on Twitter and other sites from time to time.

Cheers!

Nice cat. Yeah I'm hoping an SMT can find a way to reward content that has paid out on steem.

Well... If I remember way back to my (now embarrassing...) introduction post... I think I described myself as a father, a violinist, a gamer and an all round nerd...an Australian living in the Netherlands and a Musician who has a background in Science... And not much really had changed...

Father: I have two daughters who are just the best thing in the world... Except when the little one is screaming her head off or just not sleeping... But that is the life of a parent!

Musician. I play Violin, Viola and Viola d'amore specialising in Early Music (otherwise known as Historical performance practice). It is a strain of Classical music (#classical-music!) that tries to remove the intervening centuries with of 'music tradition' to recover the original intent and music of the past. Think about how different everything in the world (language, convention and aesthetics) is compared to the 17th and 18th century. It doesn't make sense to apply modern traditions and ideas to works from the past....

Gamer.... PC gaming or go home... Okay, I've softened a bit for the Switch in my old age!

Nerd. If it isn't cool... I probably think it is really interesting. It maybe I should say that I am completely interested in things that other people will eventually be interested in!

Haha... I love the intro! I am interested in odd things too, and I often find this is a common theme on Steem.

Yes, the cover of semi-anonimity (at least not knowing any real life friends and colleagues here) does allow us to express our interests and ideas that we might otherwise keep to ourselves! That also had a good and bad side though...

ok i will fish! i am torico, sometimes known by rabbit puppy or one of a variety of names. i like to reinvent myself and be spontaneous. i hang out in pal and helpie and creativecoin, where i am a curator. since making profit isnt my primary goal in life, im still a small fry here in steemland, but i have made some really awesome friends.

i write about a few things depending on my mood and passion. sometimes its photography, poetry or art, sometimes its writing or nature. my latest post was about buffalo. once in a while i will drop a post about socio-political or steem-related topics such as a "how to", discrimination, anxiety, contests or curation.

even tho i am extremely introverted, i go about it in an extroverted way. i like to chat, troll and give loud obnoxious opinions when im triggered. ask WU, she was really polite about it and still somehow talks to me. I like to do pirate dj shows on mspw, will give advice and help freely, and will happily curate new or undervalued steemians who write really good content. the weirder you are, the more i might like you

gratuitous photo of two bugs canoodling..

Haha, I don't mind opinions. and I would strongly recommend her in any moderation roll, she out does herself in paying attention to details.

yaaaa details. it's a blessing and a curse

I produce electronic music, shoot photos, design graphics, shoot music videos and vlogs, manage record labels, own a digital music distribution and promotion company. But mostly I drink coffee.

EDIT: as requested by OP, here are some examples of the latest things I've worked on.

This is the record cover artwork of Different Is Different Records's forthcoming 180th release, the techno label I founded 9 years ago. The label started showcasing photos of endangered wildlife and recently I have decided to change the design to start showcasing artworks from artists. For the next year we will be showcasing the works of Pawel Czerwinski. The music of the label is distributed through my digital distribution company.

This is one of the promotional graphics for the IG Stories.

This is @misselectric's own techno record label. I directed all the graphic aesthetics of the label and designed the record cover artwork and promotional graphics reminiscent of movie posters. The music of the label is distributed through my digital distribution company.

Here's the graphic for the IG Stories.

This is one of my client's techno label "Hidden Suite Records" from Madrid. I designed all graphics and directed the branding of the label as well. The music of the label is distributed through my digital distribution company.

The IG story graphic.

Here's my latest video of a live synth performance, please note it is not finished, but it's a live recording https://steempeak.com/dtube/@greencross/2pn0ckjcg9i

Thanks to @whatsup for the chance to re-introduce myself :)

fellow music and coffee lover!

and best selfie companion! @joythewanderer too bad you wander too fast and I almost couldn't keep up with you at Steemfest :P

Posted using Partiko Android

my bad, I find you in Bangkok, oh wait, are you by any chance going?

@joythewanderer I really wish but, sadly, I don't see it happening unless by some miracle I get a free plane ticket and free Steemfest ticket as well lol. But yes my initial plan was to go.

Posted using Partiko Android

I also drink coffee! I've followed you. Now that we have something in common! :) Also would like to invite you to post a link or graphic you choose to create attention.

thanks so much for the follow @whatsup :) we already follow each other on Twitter and I already was following you here for a while. If you don't mind I will edit my response and add a couple graphics I've been working on and a link to my latest DTube post which is a live performance of my latest work-in-progress synth music. Only if that's ok. If too spammy just let me know and I'll keep it to only one graphic like you suggested.

Cheers and thanks!

Hi Im new here, I would like to share with you a banner I had create in power point
BANER 1.gif

hello fellow coffee nerd !

Hi, I’m inertia. I like to code. I also like to play old video games people don’t care about anymore. Sometimes I do both. I code, then I play old video games people don’t care about while my code is doing things that take a while. That way I’m not too distracted when my code screws up and I can see when that happens right away.

I also try to document things that I figure out in code. That way, if I run into something unexpected, hopefully others will benefit from my discovery, especially if I can generalize the issue so it doesn’t matter which tools you’re already using.

I’m also a science fan. And I like economics. And easy cheese.

We are thankful for your coding and documentation! It helps us semi-techies try to figure out what makes STEEM work!

I'm a retired American Emergency Room nurse who sold my house a couple of years ago and now live my life with my lovely wife in an RV (that's a motorcoach I guess for you non-American folks) volunteering with government nature agencies (fish&wildlife, forest service). Giving back to society in an enjoyable way. Blog mostly with my fitness interests but am a lover of the natural world and like nothing better than hiking, cycling and just plain getting "out there". Only been a Steemer for less than a year but enjoy supporting those with similar interests and goals. Any pat on the back support is welcome.

Posted using Partiko Android

Now that is a really nice RV! My younger sister has a tow-behind 17-foot camper that she lives in and travels. Neat stuff.

Hey folks!!!

I’m @metametheus, most folk know me as Raven.

I’m an organiser and curator for the @naturalmedicine Tribe, a Steem community dedicated to sharing and exploring wisdom, knowledge and personal experiences with natural medicines, health, and healing.

From my time as TCM Doctor and lecturer, I’m fascinated with Taoism, ancient Chinese history and philosophy, alchemy, Tai Chi and Qigong.

But I also love to geek out on all areas of history, philosophy, anthropology, etc.

I’m also right into esoteric topics such as spiritual ideas and practices, and kooky shit like astrology, tarot, Feng Shui, and that sort of thing.

Also, I am a rock tragic. Give me all sorts of pop/rock music and I go nuts.... anything from metal to prog, blues jazz, funk, .... whatever!!!

Really looking forward to seeing some different folk start to appear on my feed, so I’ll be keeping an eye on this post and reading comments!!!!

Take care, y’all!!

I am so honored you posted on my introduction! We do have a lot in common!

@whatsup,
I am just asking, why we can't introduce them a new tag, that's not #introduceyourself. I think it almost spammed. But we can introduce something that we monitor, provide votes for quality contents and fight spams too! If you wish to build that mechanism, you know I could help you in some ways!

Sweet! Good idea!!

I am @stealthtrader and I have been here since July 2016.. I started out doing acoustic guitar and also Dj'd some EDM on here as well.. I have blogged about hundereds of blockchains since then, and here recently I can be found on the Splinterlands battlefield most of the time!

Hi @stealthtrader

It clearly seem that we're sharing similar interests (blockchain, tech etc). Followed you already :)

Cheers, Piotr

Nice, glad to see you are engaging in many aspects of Steem from blogging and vloggin to games!

Of course! I love the Steem community.. It has been my digital family/home for years!

Engagement under this post is mind boggling! Now I realize that the number of active steemians is higher than I think it is.

Hello folks!
I'm Steemitri, I'm a mannequin and I write about my daily life as mannequin-blogger.
I'm on the STEEM blockchain since 2 years, and I love this place.
I am made of plastic, but I hate plastic.
I like to engage with humans, so if you want, just leave a funny comment :-)

Thanks @macchiata ... I'm gonna check your blog now ;-)

Haha, We've met and I think your posts are fun. I would encourage those who enjoy an odd sense of humor to follow you as well.

Definitively followed!.

I thought Life In Plastic Was Fantastic, though, @steemitri

Posted using Partiko Android

Plastic Fantastic, haha... yeah, but I have to avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat :-)

Eclectic. Pretty much the best I can describe my interests, posts, and life. Mostly I share my life around my farm, the various flora, fauna, and events that go on. I try to show some of my travels and adventures climbing and hiking through my photos.

In my over 3 years here I've managed to find myself in a place where my account is essentially just my diary, a way for my wife to keep up with my daily life. Regularly I find myself wishing I had the knowledge and ability to write about the weirdly most engaging topic on here, Steem itself.

It's hard being an introvert in a "SOCIAL" media world.

and yet steemit is a terrific outlet for us introverts! we can be social in the comfort of our own caves :)

Honestly the most interaction with the outside world I get is on Steemit.

ikr? i actually prefer it that way. im very happy not having to make polite inane conversation with strangers because it's expected. i'd much rather converse about deep, weird, or controversial topics most people run away from..

That is the spice of life! Deep and weird are what my mind seems to exist on a lot of times.

One of my biggest hang ups is not commenting or joining a discussion or thread because I am thinking to far ahead of myself and all the potential reactions to my words. I project too much I think and can't just chat. So many things seem just so mundane and not worth typing, but if I were to actually interact more those mundane things may take on more importance and meaning. Ugg... I suck.

nah i totally get it. most people dont get my jokes becuz the references are too convoluted.

LOL! I feel you. I have to work hard to bring my thoughts to a point of general understanding before hitting "post", or else I could just talk to a wall and get the same response.

There is push back right now on those of us who write a lot about Steem. I am totally guilty, but the fact is I love to talk about Steem. I love to read other people's thoughts on Steem.

:)

In addition, when I try to write about anything else, I make half as much and get very few comments.

I guess that is because I really am passionate about Steem and I don't really care about flowers and recipes and some other typical blog topics.

In addition, when I try to write about anything else, I make half as much and get very few comments.

To me that is an issue. Hence why my account languishes, it seems most have the similar mentality. Not that I fault you or others for taking advantage of it.

Hello @Whatsup, you are an experienced person on the platform so you have valuable tips, especially for those of us who started at steemit. Thank you for the opportunity to make us known.

Make a comment giving a short description of who you are and what you write about. I'm not looking for your real-life name, but rather who you are on Steem and what you are about and interested in.

and then let's level it up and make this tinder like with matching and stuff :P!

So who am i you may wonder? Just a cool and beautiful guy (according to my grandma) that joined steemit since the beginning of 2017. I do everything manually (curating, commenting, upvoting) and i try to read and comment each post i upvote!

Now as to what i post and what posts i find interesting

What I Write About

  1. Movie & Anime Reviews
  2. Actual funny real life stories and generally funny stuff
  3. Occasional Science,Steemit,Travel posts
  4. Occasional Cultural info of my country

What I am Interested in

Hot girls (em.. sorry never mind that one)

  1. Travel posts
  2. Funny posts
  3. Steemit or science related posts
  4. Anime posts
  5. Realistic or cartoon-anime like artistic Posts

I need to search for quite a bit to find my actual intro post (which is lame!) so instead i will link my latest one https://steemit.com/newsteem/@filotasriza3/curating-manually-welcome-to-hell-funny-story-part-1

Should be lots of travel posts around.

Hi, I'm @cadawg,
an 18 year old Software Developer who joined STEEM a year and three quarters ago.

During my time on STEEM, I've created a couple of apps (that you probably haven't heard of), such as Steem Engine Tools and Custom Amount Delegation Tool. I've also made some other things which float around GitHub.

I also assisted in the creation (and software side) of the Vampyre Cash Project which was then superseded by Plankton Token, which now nearing 200 members. It's an awesome community! Feel free to Join our FishCord

I'm currently working on getting @lividseagulls' LiteWallet up and running, as well as providing a steady stream of updates to SE Tools.

I also enjoy playing Video Games at the time when I'm not programming (yeah, I enjoy programming). I try to post daily now so follow me for a better insight into my life. Every month I like to power up some STEEM too! =)

Very impressive "resume" @cadawg

Thanks, Piotr!

Is there any way to contact you @cadawg?

I really would like to get to know each other closer as I believe that collaborating together could help us create some business opportunities in the future.

do you use telegram by any chance?

yours
Piotr

mytechtrail
Short for My Technology Trail a blog I started many years ago but never kept up. Since joining Steem Oct 2017 I have found some awesome communities that have encouraged me to post more.

Now I have to jump the last great hurdle and motivate myself to start posting my Teaching Myself Python series where I post my attempts at Python programming as I teach myself how to program Python.

There I have put myself out there and maybe this will be the final push I need.

I'm in the "teaching myself Python" camp as well but wouldn't even know where to start in presenting that outwardly. Followed and I will watch for your series.

Well, I've followed that as well and hopefully, others that are interested will also see this here.

I am an Australian, disillusioned man who recently published their 1000th Steem Post to little to no fanfare.

Lately I've caught the photography bug again, finally utilising my Masters Degree in Visual Art.

I used to play Steemmonsters a lot. I don't do that anymore. I used to be a professional video game journalist. I still write about games from time to time and have a ridiculously long back log to review.

I curate art and photography, and own a vehicle with the licence plate "steemit". I'm a big proponent of Steem meets, they're the best way to meet people you would never encounter in your day to day.

I'm a dolphin, and I cannot swim.

Posted using Partiko Android

Who are you again?

lol, just kidding, he is also a dev and a contributor to many Steem things.

Nah. I'm not a dev, but I did once use Steem as the basis of a shitty RPG built using out of the box software. It's on Github if everyone wants to waste minutes of their lives playing a satirical rendition of "my first Steem moments".

If I wasn't walking to gym I'd link it, but instead people will have to Google "Isle of Steem github holoz0r", then employ the powers of reading and comprehension to prove the proof of brain thing.

Hello. I am @secondmedicalop, I host the SMO Blog. I post medical related topics and promote the ebooks I have published. I encourage everyone reaching this comment to follow me and to comment on my posts. This is a great idea, @whatsup.

I am all about poetry especially dark. My mind can also be erotica's playground in time. I also do therapeutic monologue rants to keep my creative soul afloat. Who knew that hunting Steem would give me a description 🤷‍♀️

Hello there :)

Another hidden secret of the Steem Content Creators, if anyone reading this enjoys poetry and personal thoughts @tezmel is a great fit for you! :)

Too humbled ♡ I am glad this post rocketed! Its such a great idea :)

Describe myself? Well I have a great deal of interests. I don't post much. I support what I believe to be good initiatives on the blockchain. I have been hanging around on STEEM for about two years now. My passions are charities, environmentalism, blockchain technology, and community.

I tend to be very opinionated, yet never have a problem with saying I am wrong. That is how I view myself.

Once I made an effort to go to a Steem Meetup in Boston but, got stuck in NYC do to snow. I had taken an AMTRAK and the trains could not run do to a snow storm. I have a great fear of interaction with people in person especially in a crowded venue. I am still working on that aspect of my personality.

I have had many experiences during my short 58 years on this planet. 21 years of military service (12 years as a Marine and the rest as a civilian soldier, bartender, marketing/sales, convenience store manager, tobacco harvester, lay-minister, supervisor of Christian homeless shelter, homelessness and those are the things I remember).

Though I do not do well in crowded situations (even with family members), I tend to crave attention. Another personality flaw I work on. I also tend to be a little too self-aware. That is about it.

Hi @sgt-dan

It clearly seem that we're sharing similar interests (blockchain, tech etc). Followed you already :)

Cheers, Piotr

Hey @sgt-dan, glad to see you. Keep up the networking, on Steem it is more important than content in my opinion a person can create more success with networking than great content.

True. Very true. Just depends on with who I network! Downvotes at times seem to come from affiliation with certain folks! 🤣🤣🤣

Really does not matter to me though. I will just continue to invest fiat little by little in STEEM and hope for the best.

Yo this has made for some interesting comments. I've been around for like two weeks but I like reading a lot that I sometimes forget to post lol. I don't know as I'm writing this I'm giggling. I think it reminds me of the one time I went to support my cuz at an AAA meeting, only to show up high on weed lol. I think someone said to introduce myself. I didn't know where to begin.

Well hello and welcome!

Hello! I am @marcusantoniu26, and I write The Everything Blog. No specific topic as you will see, but I believe always interesting. I believe that @whatsup, by doing this, truly believes in this blockchain and acknowledges the need that starters have to get followers and curators.

Hello I sell pinatas!

Coool I want a pinata!

Where can I get one?

Just step inside my not-creepy 80's van and browse the merchandise.

Oh my god. So very legit! 👌

It's a travelling home business!

Hey, guys!
I'm Felix and have been on steemit for 2 years, but I had a long break in between.
On steemit I write about my work in the old people's home, about some of my thoughts and I'm interested in all sorts of things, check with me (texts are in German, but we all have a translator, don't we?) :)

Me... I am an American gamer, coder, hacker, and generally a nerd. I enjoy pretty much everything I just described.

My blog is currently based around crypto games, and I will be expanding to brief cyber security and coding tutorials.

You will find a great many folks to trade thoughts with on STEEM. I just finished taking a look at your first post. Very good. I am not much into games though I do play some now and again. There is a very large gaming community on STEEM though. Also a great many coders.

Welcome to STEEM and have a great week!

Hi @c0mrade

Didn't you consider powering up a little bit? I'm sure it must be hard with current Resource Credit restrictions.

My blog is currently based around crypto games, and I will be expanding to brief cyber security and coding tutorials.

It clearly seem that we're sharing similar interests (blockchain, tech etc). Followed you already :)

Cheers, Piotr

Yes, I am investing all my income from posts into powering up. Thanks for the follow! Ironically it took me a while to post this because of resource credits.

Not sure if it specifically meets your guidelines but I did my "introduce yourself" post two days ago. Linking it would just be more efficient :)

I am a nutritionist(BS.c & MS.c) and personal trainer who blogs about the topic, trying to break down complex fitness, nutritional and health information and make it easy to digest (excuse the pun).

Oh, but I love puns! That is cool we are starting to develop an excellent fitness community! Have you met @runridefly yet?

I haven't, I'm brand new here. I see quite a few fitness posts though so I think we will get along :D

I mostly post about my model railway project and from time to time some updates on my computer game I am working on for some time now.

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh model railways are a fun niche, that is interesting.

You might like the build-it tribe. E.g., use one of these tags: #diy #how-to #do-it #do-it-yourself #build-it #build

I'm new to Steemit and this will be my first ever post. I love football and writing a little too much actually.
I have been classified by many as a nerd and i think in a way i am. I also love the anonymity that social media provides(steemit included). I look forward to meeting new people here and having meaningful conversations.

Quality over quantity, that is the secret! To help you out, if you like football and make a post about it you may wish to use the tag #sportstalksocial and if you make a post regarding Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM), you may wish to use the tag #stemgeeks. In using these tags you can earn tokens along with STEEM!

There is quite a learning curve yet, don't be discouraged... there are many folks that are willing to help. This post by @whatsup is a fine example. If you use the Discord you will find many folks that will help you along (networking and finding folks with similar interests is paramount in finding an audience)! There are two resources that you may find very helpful @shadowspub and @steemterminal.

Just a little help to get you started. I have been a STEEM user for 2 years and I am still learning. Good fortune on your Blog here on STEEM and welcome!

That's awesome. Welcome.

Do you mind letting us know (generally, not names or anything) how you heard about us an got signed up)

Curious because we need to do a better job of getting steem's name out there in the world.

Well i was just scrolling past and i saw your post and it looked like a really good way to meet new people.

I am produce science and technology related article and short stories related to life.
Thanks everyone here.

I joined Steem couple years back. I used to write but then my posts never earned enough. So I commented a lot and earn some Steem and followers. Then came dApps like Drugwars, Steem monsters, next colony and many. I started playing all games and they are super fun. Recently I'm crazy about Steem Monsters.

It's cool that just the introductions on the post point out the diversity of the Steem Blockchain! Glad you found some games to enjoy and glad you stopped by to say hi to the community

Yay, you made it here! =)

I'm a minnow now @cadawg

Congrats man! That's really awesome!

Hi

@watsup at here @chrismadcboy2016 steem account. My real name is Chris live form Mohon, Macrohon, Southern Leyte. I was a member since last 2017 my first engagement on STEEM. I have one son, for now, married to my lovely wife Marilyn. I am 30 years old graduated from Computer Hardware Technology & Information Technology. My wife is a steemit user to her steem account is @dcrealyn. I 've been in-active user last year because of personal time needs to my family and I know its hard dwelling to steemit while my family needs me more. So that is why I decided to in-active for the last 2018. But now here I am starting to build my little account to be one of the people here standing and keep moving for a brighter future. And now I am aiming to my goal to hit my target goal to be a whale, dolphin or orcas haha who know maybe I will.

Actually back from the beginning, I am not a fan fo blog/blogger things. My friend offered me @vhinz88 he is the first steemian to our place. He offered me to join steemit.com he explains to me what is steem. All my questions he answers, after a year If I am not wrong I do not still register haha because I was confused why they give money by using votes by posting photos, arts, writings, etc. My friend @vhinz88 always reminds me to come and join I will help you to start and build your account. The so the year 2017 I register my account and wait for three to five days working weeks. And Wot! I am verified in 3 days and that's the time I start to make a blog short content and so on, after a month I earn more than 30 SBD and I try to withdraw to witness steemit is not a scam. And Yes! steem is not a scam and that is the time I keep on steeming.

Thank you

Hey, that's quite an introduction.

I try to create art. I think that my main field is probably pyrography but I am also writing a book and making decoupage pieces.

Oh, fire and art, a hot combination. I'll check out your work.

I nominate my friend @hockney who writes about music and board games. Also cartoonist @northwestnomad.

Wow! Nice. I've only been shit posting for a couple of years now.

The shitposter earned my respect

Greetings good folks. I am into education, counseling , music , food and news. Because of a super busy schedule I don’t to post as much as I want to but thanks to actifit I can post about my daily actifit. When time permits I post about food like here

https://partiko.app/@missaj/tasteem-ecbaf0?referrer=missaj
Or music from my band via Dsound and Dtube. I do read a lot of other people’s post and upvote with the little steem power I’ve built up. I’ve already added a few people from this thread - will read through later and follow. Peace ✌️

Greetings, glad you stopped by.

I’m not sure that I understand. Which is par for the course for me.
How is it that minnows are being lost? Is it that they don’t post any longer or have they unjoined somehow?
Splain please.

The thing I keep hearing is that we are not retaining minnows, who are supposedly good content creators. It gets repeated over and over. However, no one can name them or show examples of their work.

Many of us feel the most valuable asset we can have is an active community. I think there are some who promote the idea that everyone can and should earn. I however don't think that is likely.

When the alt-coin winter is over and we attract new users the idea that people are going to continue to earn large amounts will surely meet reality.

Boy, you must think I am really slow. Sorry. I really don’t mean to be dense. But what do you mean by retraining?
I don’t remember getting any training at all. Much less retraining.

It is totally a sink or swim setting, that means, no training, no hand holding, find your audience, find your people...

The self-sufficient will survive.

Sorry again. I thought I read retraining where you wrote retaining.
Might be time for new glasses.

I shall have a real through these quality bastatas later on when I get home!

Damn, who let you in? 😂😉👌

Hi, I am Priyan, professionally I am an Architect , currently living in Kharkiv , Ukraine. I am doing my Master's here on International Management Organizations..

I love making videos , writing blog post specially I love to share my perspective and experiences. I am not professional vlogger , I started my vlogging journey on Dtube. I love travelling , capturing pictures and love to explore .. I love to observe anything but my favourite subject is Nature and Human .

On steem blockchain, I am involved with different communities and I love to help people , support people...

So this is just a part of me.... :) :)

Hopefully, someone new shows up? lol
I think we scared away our one person to onboard the other day.... sigh...

We totally need to figure out how to do outreach.

I think new users will come on with more realistic expectations this time.

No more of this, I made 4 posts and I'm not rich yet idea.

Remember the old school days of #PostPromo on Steemit chat?

lol, yes. I do. Although I didn't last long on the rocketchat version of Steem.chat. Too many "moderators" not enough people actually trying to be helpful

Heck yeah wasn’t that the one by @blueorgy ?

Posted using Partiko iOS

It changed hands a few times, but what I remember is a room full of minnows trying to ask questions and being ignored. However, if anyone broke the rules 10 moderators would appeal out of nowhere to yell at them.

Yeah I remember being kicked out a few times smh

TRUST me I remember long nights trying to help people haha

if the whole manual curation and rewarding the quality content continues and at the same time kick out the abusers (bid-bot users, abusers that steal content from other users or from the web, end up the circle jerking etc etc) then it will outreach people. How you may be wonder.

Just via word of mouth

The best marketing that will attract the old quality users that left the platform out of frustration as well as new ones and it costs 0$

I do agree that will be helpful.

I also think the views of our community are skewed. People who are making a little bit of rewards from something that has almost no value elsewhere are mad they aren't earning more. It's odd.

Economist; primarily love reading and posting blogs about Christianity, also enjoy commenting and up voting economic, development and motivational issues

Are these bot votes being paid for?

I did not buy any votes for this, I think they curated it. Thanks for asking as I always worry that people will think I promoted it.

I know you put together downvote lists so I figured you wouldn't be paying for the votes. I'm getting them myself.. I'm going to have to start downvoting myself!
Do you know of a tool that monitors who is buying the votes?

I don't know how to verify each post other than to check the wallet for recent transfers.

Here is how I find abuse

https://steembottracker.com

I got through each bot and 2 rounds. There are specific bots that get a lot more abuse than others. like Rocky1, is used almost exclusively by abusers.

If you click on the details screen you can see the round and 1 previous round. Then I click on the link and see if the post is old or new, high effort or low effort and if it seems like guinuine promotion or just farming, it's subjective,... and I am sure you know how, but it seemed like a great moment to get others looking at what IS being promoted.

I see ok. I have actually been receiving votes from rocky1 which I figured were just from the bot's operator trying to get curation rewards. It's definitely not straightforward to monitor!

I've been seeing a few of these accounts that typically sell votes show up on my work as well, for free. I've been including a line telling consumers I don't buy votes with every post. Whether they believe it or not is up to them I guess. At first I thought someone was buying them for me, but Steemworld doesn't show any transfers from anyone.

I guess that's the only option - yes, they are probably voting for the curation rewards or possibly to attempt to blend in and make it more difficult to downvote posts that are actually buying votes.

Hi, I am over at @dkkarolien. I'm a South African living in Mauritius currently, not allowed to work so I blog about our life and experiences caused by living on a rock in the middle of the ocean. I like sharing mindful thoughts, something about my day or life as it happens or places we travel to from time to time. Amateur photography is HUGE passion and I'm never without a camera. I've been blogging for four years now and have a website www.karolien-thereslifeafterkids.com. I've been on Steem for 4.5 months now working my backside off to grow my account which I've done with a little (lot) of help with lots of special friends I've made on here and in discord channel. Awesome support and rallying from them all... 😂 Haven't missed one day of posting yet. Love steemit and not planning on leaving anytime soon. 😏 I try to upvote, comment on Resteem daily, sometimes life gets in the way but I'm fairly committed to this platform.
I already follow most of the people here that commented and made sure to follow some more before introducing myself. Thank you for the opportunity! Will definitely Resteem this post. 😊

Sorry, I keep missing these notifications! Thank you for the nomination. I'm a photographer based in the South West of Western Australia, mostly post about my travels.
