The truth behind Decentralized Exchanges and the ongoing fight against Mass Surveillance

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

It is true, as of right now the government is spying on you! You may not realize it until it’s too late (Uncle Sam is planning to tax you). Nations and governments around the world aren't as stupid as they seem and in fact, they’re usually one step ahead of us.

Even disruptive technology such as Blockchain will become a victim of the ongoing war between privacy & control.

Popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, or Ethereum are not going to be taken over by the government any time soon (there is always the possibility, though) but let’s not focus on digital assets but rather on avenues that they (the big brother that is watching you) been targeting the most; Exchanges, the most common marketplaces where these digital assets get traded on.

Currency can't entirely be disrupted, but it's implications toward control, governance, and freedom is utterly empowering. Our economic storage of value.. Money, is restricted, controlled, and exploited in the name of GLOBALIZATION should be a downright sin. It's got terrible, drastic implications towards many, especially 3rd world nations.

Where are we now today?

Today we have digital assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum that have proven themselves to have tangible use cases in both programmable money and contracts.
Tackling scaling and adoption is the next stage, however, there is the ongoing concerns and questions we should be asking ourselves; Because what may seem to appear as decentralize at first could end up to be the complete opposite. Just remember, that not everything should be on the blockchain.

If you consider yourself an avid investor of Cryptocurrencies, than you should be concerned about the government because they’ve got multiple tricks up their sleeves to track you, more-so on an immutable ledger where they audit the books - we're getting closer to a very dark future.

A Question to ask yourself now:
How many of you already, cover your webcam and think twice about posting something online as it could come back to hunt later on life?

For those of you, especially the ones living in China where the government is known to spy and monitor on its citizens, it is has become a social norm to give up your rights to privacy. It's a very concerning society they have because as profound as it seems, the people are very supportive of the government. But that doesn't mean that there isn't a massive community that's being outcasted and oppressed because of the state of surveillance and control a single central authority has over it's people. Millions of citizens have already been restricted from using Public transports and lack access to public services due to the ongoing surveillance in China.
Before you interact with a Blockchain, there is a need to actually have to think twice about any application you plan on installing (Applications are centralized). Everything you do online can be easily tracked and this applies to blockchain technology, especially when you trade digital assets through a broker, exchange or marketplace (digital traces can be linked back to you)

We should look at projects which provide redemption from this nasty, dark world.
The rise of Privacy Tokens is the result of us trying to escape government surveillance and essentially control, as crypto enthusiasts around the world are trying to shield and protect themselves from the big brother and the retarded intermediary fees.

The development for these privacy-centric have had lots of challenges in the beginning(eg) the bug in ZCash Token Creation (though updates are soothing), to the versatility and limitations in using Monero and the uproar from the ASIIC issues (Zencash) and the POW update. Regardless of that, Cryptocurrencies that promise greater anonymity are becoming more popular over time as people are slowly waking up to the bleak reality that virtual money is getting much easier to track

If you’re new to blockchain technology by now you must heard about Decentralized Exchanges that were designed in such a way that would it challenge & oppose centralized exchanges.
However despite posing a novel solution in providing trust-less decentralization and utility, there have been cases where decentralized Exchanges have made a complete U-turn on their promises.

From the SEC requesting KYC requirements from IDEX, to shenanigans with EtherDelta. Centralized ones aren't perfect and Mt Gox is just the tip of the iceberg. The reality is that DEX's need liquidity. They need market makers. They need volume. They need legal protection.

What does the World need right now?

We believe that we need reliable Decentralized Exchanges that emphasize on PRIVACY, but it must be investors & traders who need to support the developments of DEX’s.
We deserve our rights to own assets that we ourselves go head over heels, through blood, sweat and tears to earn. The government should be more transparent with today’s society especially when they plan to go after exchanges , forcing them to comply with ridiculous data sharing policies and admit that they’re secretly using Surveillance and intelligence as tools of control

You & I should believe in freedom, that’s why every one of us should be supporting projects that are planning to disrupt Blockchain technology. Privacy-focused cryptocurrencies like Z-cash & Monero, claim to allow its users to have a firm command over the privacy of their data by keeping transaction information completely anonymous within the blockchain.

For the time being our focus should be on Decentralized Exchanges, projects such as Komodo's BarterDex & Resistance (ResDEX) are trying to revolutionize the current marketplace of DEX’s
Komodo’s DEX is a decentralized cryptocurrency shuffler that allows for stealth transactions and protects them from being traced through a time or knapsack attack. It is by far the most popular DEX in the making

Resistance (ResDEX) which I've seen a V1.4 Whitepaper on CryptoDiffer utilizes technologies such as zk-SNARKS, similar to which z-cash uses to shield transactions and combine it with a DEX where one can immediately trade on with decentralized market makers to ensure liquidity is sufficient, atomic swap technology for speed to circumvent centralized trading, and keep private key ownership with on-chain solutions.

These DEX's are still somewhat work in progress but through the help of the community and with more user adoption, we can expect to see more projects that focus on solely on privacy to gain more traction over time, now that traders are more aware of the whole ordeal surrounding surveillance.
While we are hyping Cryptocurrencies all the time, we are here to share some of the frustrations we've had with our current system, what we have, what isn't working, and to share our frustrations on seeing such sentiment during market turbulence.

Let’s move forward in a regulatory rigid environment because we're only witnessing the start of a very big snowball. We hope to shed some positivity in my sentiment on what's going on. Do share your thoughts on Privacy, DEX's, Governments, and Regulation!

Dear @crypto.hype, the problem on private economy is only about who want to use it for bad porpouse.
After 11 septmber 2001 our freedom is limited in order of goverment controls against terrorism and unfortunately this crypto can be a way to feed it and that will be controlled because of it....:((

Dear @intellihandling

would you mind telling me what event had place on 11 sep 2001?

Cheers, Piotr

Twin towers falling down...:((

Oh yeah. I feel so silly that I didnt connect one with another.
thx

yes they gave governments all reasons to limited our freedom, because everybody want that terrorists will be stopped before do their ugly work.

Privacy and regulations are key factors towards the adoption of blockchain technology and Cryptocurrencies. We have seen many governments and organizations try to regulate or fight against this technology but I think there can't be any stopping.

SEC is doing a great job to regulate ICOs and that's a plus but it is not enough.

Posted using Partiko Android

To be honest, the SEC has taken down quite a number of scamy ICOs! But is also preventing a lot potential good ones. Who knows XD

Yeah, I think you're right!

Talking about conspiracy theories? I'm the one who covers the webcam and the mic of the computer. I know the government of many countries have my personal data from all KYC I registered. And the first one who knows about me more than me is Google! You can bet on that!

In the Bible, it is written that nothing will be hidden between heaven and earth. So, you know Jesus was right!

And I think that for now, it is the best since there would be no way to determine the money laundering and illegal purchases by bands and outlaws.

The question is: How far do they want to protect us? Because they want to protect us, aren't they?

The only way to hide is being off the network.

Good to hear I'm not the only paranoid one

Hey we got our lines mixed up. Nice comment- the last line specially.

It's actually quite common to see people cover their webcams these days! I guess everyone is somewhat aware that the government or someone may be spying on them online. Letting Google, Facebook, Microsoft & Apple sell our data has become a norm in today's society. Cryptocurrencies traders need to be aware that centralized exchanges are going to cause a lot of problems in the future. Well designed DEX are the future but yeah, it would probably better to deal in cash! Off the Network

Well, a comfortable solution for the most paranoid

Wow! I just use glue tag for my webcam but this would look much better

I used black tape

I'd like to add that in not so far future if you want to use an exchange you will have to pass KYC process, so goodbye anonymity (Regulations, man!)

But but ... @crypto.hype what can anyone see through webcam? Same people who cover those webcams are uncovering them for the time being whenever then use skype/fb call. What's the point? I dont get it.

Cheers,
Piotr

Hi @jadams2k18

Talking about conspiracy theories? I'm the one who covers the webcam and the mic of the computer.

Indeed partly talking about conspiracy theories but mostly we're trying to build awarness of readers, that blockchain is not as safe and private as they may think it is.

Till now most of my friends seem to believe that bitcoin is great for drug dealers, and money laundering etc. because nothing can be traced.

So, you know Jesus was right!

I love your sense of humour buddy. I really do :)

Cheers, Piotr

"How many of you already, cover your webcam and think twice about posting something online as it could come back to hunt later on life?"- Scary @crypto.hype but scary because it is very close to the truth. Google AI knows more about me than I do. Governments spending hundreds of Millions of dollars on cyber- warfare are way ahead. Sadly privacy is sacrificed, without a second thought, for frivolous gifts like getting to watch free music videos and discounts on purchases. What we need is to bring the issue of privacy as a right, to center stage. And keep away from known peeping toms.
Nice to see I am not the only one paranoid.

Thanks. Liked Voted and Resteemed

Indeed! I get paranoid all the time. Whilst I don't really ask all my friends to cover up their webcam, I do spend a fair amount of time talking about bad about centralized platforms like Facebook & Google are. When talking about Cryptocurrencies, I always try to get people to think of both sides; there are 2 aspects of Crypto, decentralized & centralized. Once you bring up this conversation, loads of people will realize that Cryptocurrencies are the perfect tool for the government to use for mass surveillance (not too many happy faces). We definitely need DEXs in the future and should avoid centralized exchanges at all cost, people need to wake up because its too late, especially once you've given up your privacy

Hi @sarez

Thank you for your comment.

A few days ago I've read some news about famous celebrity in US, who had to publicly apologize for making a racist joke on his twitter. The funny thing is that someone dug out that joke years back when this dude was just 15 years old.

Indeed we never know when we will pay for our "sins" from the past. That's partly the reason why Im avoiding many topics related to politics, religion, migration etc. We cannot really express ourselves online. Sad but thats just the way it is.

Cheers buddy, Piotr

It's something very common, to see that human beings want to control something and make it a profit source for their pocket, things like that are unpleasant and make me think that something that should be decentralized to this rooted thing say things like "decentralized token" "your you have the control of your assets "but that is not something silly and that should not be lying to a community I had the case (I do not want to speak badly of projects but it is the reality I can not bear to say it) with the smartcash project several times we invest In that, I was a new investi a month believing that we had the control of the proposals they helped pay, until we realized that the sad reality that the funds that we supposedly helped to choose, only three simple individuals did mitiendo silly way that the so-called "smart buddies" decided everything and things like that happen.

This technology lends itself to many things of social and humanitarian benefit, and you are using it for something as monotonous as filling your pockets.

Thanks for everything @ crypto.piotr and let me see a publication that helped me to vent.

Used to be a complete SmartCash fan but after learning more about the project, I became quite vary over time, especially regarding the fund allocation! To be honest the Crypto space needs more decentralized project that emphasize on Privacy and Security

if brother @ crypto.hype I was one that all the world, I mentioned about the project and it hurt me to see that case and another sadder that my country Venezuela has been excluded "for not being a reliable place for cryptocurrencies"

There is always Google Translate :) thank you for linking this

Excellent comment @memes777

Big thx for sharing your thought. I guess we're on the same page with our views.

You are right!!
Complete privacy is more of a challenge nowadays with governments poking their noses in each and every place. As you said decentralized exchanges can be really good but at the same time they are difficult to operate!!

As @crypto.piotr said it is useless because technology has always been ruled by politician's and it is difficult to actually achieve complete privacy.

Monero and ZCash I think really have been successful in provide complete anonymity but trust me rulers are looking deep into it. I live in India. The government is consistently ignoring crypto whereas the people of crypto community are petitioning for regulations. Supreme Court is confused and trying to pass a fair and suitable decision. Believe me when I told my friends that I deal in crypto they acted like I am a global criminal. That is how the government has triggered thought in the people. Truth is always hidden.

I think DEX will be good but they can be manipulated as well unless they are build on a completely anonymity maintaining blockchain.
Good choice of topic.

Great Comment on this! I definitely agree that trying to stay private online is posing to be quite a challenge these days. It's nice to see new innovations arise due to be privacy concerns like new web browsers, VPN's and Cryptocurrencies. To be honest I've heard a lot about India usually quite negative sentiment surrounding the whole Cryptocurrency regulation ordeal, sad to hear that some Governments have an easier to manipulate the people. Definitely, think that Decentralized Exchanges are the future

Great comment @n1hal

Complete privacy is more of a challenge nowadays with governments poking their noses in each and every place.

Sometimes i feel that the best thing to do is to move to some 3rd world country, with very little resources and just disconnect myself from online world. But to do that one need money. Loads of it lol :)

ps.
I noticed that India gov doesnt seem to know what should be their final stand towards crypto.

Believe me when I told my friends that I deal in crypto they acted like I am a global criminal.

Seriously?? Is crypto having such a bad reputation in India?

Cheers, Piotr

To answer the question asked... I was that guy, but I eventually learned that I don't have the experience to stop my electronic devices from being seen through. I am paranoid, so I do take into account what I post and how it can affect me in the long run... Everything that I have posted has been said before, whether in a text or out loud and when I realized that, then I knew that all that information must already be in the governments hands and I would not be able to do anything about it.

The only thing we can do now is to watch what we do because the future has many different outcomes depending on how governments react to the blockchain and decentralization...

It is a sad world that we live in and we cannot change the fact that the government wants to know everything that goes on and since its human nature to want to seek knowledge and just know more about what is going on (and not be in the dark), then we should realize that the world is moving to an era where privacy is completely null and void... It is, to an extent completely transparent to the government, but there are those few that are able to hide from that and I envy them :(

That is completely through! I get quite paranoid as well these days when browsing the internet. Definitely not a big fan of ads following me around where ever I go! The years of data that is being collected, could eventually come back to haunt me. Best to just stay anonymous and secure online

Very wise and mature comment @shadown99

I do take into account what I post and how it can affect me in the long run...

That's the only way.

I also think that times when people used to post whatever they only wanted on social media is slowly finishing. Distrust towards google, fb and other similar platforms is only growing.

The world is moving to an era where privacy is completely null and void...

I only wish to understand why so many people seemed to believe that blockchain will give us people "freedom we deserve".

When I joined cryptospace several months ago I've heard number of bloggers and youtubers talking about blockchain as if it would be our ticket to overthrowing goverments. And very few of them have seen it as a potential tool that may actually increase control over society.

I guess the best think we can to is not to get paranoid and learn to live with the fact, that there is very little privicy in current world.

Thank you for your feedback buddy.

Great post and yes the goverment and also the so called "elite" wants to regulate and control nearly every part of our life. There seems to be no escape, but when we hold all together and work for a new decentralized money system like those cryptos then we can fight back! Money is very important, especially today and the elite wants to control all the money and they also plan their "New World Order" to enslave all mankind! So the best in my opinion is that we must hold together against that decision and try to plan a better decentralized system, as described in this post to stay free and live our own life, that belongs to us all!

So i voted for this post and thank you for this valuable contribution!

Sometimes there really seems to escape all of this! It's difficult to maintain privacy especially in a virtual realm like the internet. Money is very important to us, I truly believe that the influence of money should be limited however these elites have been using this tool to control the masses. It's sad to know that the future is bleak regarding privacy and security

Great comment @sternblitz

I love to see how responsive and supportive you are. Steemit needs more people like you.

There seems to be no escape

Perhaps the only escape is death? :P

they also plan their "New World Order" to enslave all mankind

okey okey, I think if you're using those words then it does make you sound a little bit ... insane. New World Order is a term used to often and has very bad vibe.

Enjoy your weekend and I hope we didnt spoil your mood with this post :)

I think the most obvious benefit of a DEX is the same as with any decentralized application, which revolves around the philosophy of eliminating intermediaries and returning interactions to models without permission among peers without central authorities. More specifically, decentralization creates resistance to censorship, which in the case of decentralized exchanges means that no central authority could forcibly impose regulations, or even prohibit currencies and / or the exchange itself. This is especially important considering that many countries are restricting the cryptocurrency trade. For example, the two most populous countries on earth, China and India, have banned cryptocurrency exchanges, while countries that include Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil have restricted cryptocurrencies.

Without decentralized exchanges, the ability of people to invest in cryptography is subject to governments, so cryptocurrency does not become more democratic than traditional asset markets. Governments can exercise control over centralized exchanges, and users are subject to authorities who can track and impose taxes on users at any time, or prohibit currencies.

From privacy, to security, to resistance to government interference, decentralized exchanges are way ahead of their centralized counterparts and yet they’re not capturing the public imagination.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain-based technologies are flourishing. The volume of transactions has reached $ 20B per day, the market capitalizations have skyrocketed and the adoption by users has reached a truly global scale. The increasing utility of Blockchain in various use cases is bringing the world closer to an economy without trust, eliminating the need for third parties to exchange goods and services.

Paradoxically, more than 99% of all cryptocurrency transactions go through absolutely centralized exchanges on platforms such as Coinbase, GDAX, Binance and Bittrex. That's right, decentralized assets are stored and traded in centralized platforms that operate as guarantee deposits for their clients and do not record transactions in the block chain. This has led to massive security breaches and the unsafe handling of funds, private keys and personal data. Only in 2018, hackers have stolen more than ~ $ 730 million in cryptocurrency.

I absolutely love your comment @orphism. And this photo put such a huge smile on my face hahaha :)

Thank you for sharing your view on this issue and DAX.

Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Brazil have restricted cryptocurrencies.

Oh I didn't know that. It really seem that most big players around the world do not like those new solutions that comes along with blockchain and crypto.

Your knowledge is clearly just out of this world. One of the best comment's I've read today.

BIG THX buddy
Piotr

That Image is adorable! I personally think it's getting much harder to bypass government regulation and it will continue to get harder over time. For now, certain governments are having a relatively easy time of outright banning Cryptocurrencies (technically they can't stop Crypto but there they can stop centralized Exchanges). With DEX's like Komodo and ResDex, once they gain more traction over time, Governments are definitely going to take interests and will most likely do everything they can to get rid of them. We as the community are sick of security breaches and faul KYC practices. We definitely need more DEX's regardless if the development of these services are slow. At least we have more options on deciding where we wanna trade our cryptocurrencies. Great comment by the way! Thank you for your feedback @orphism

Do i wanna hide my money. No I'm open for that you should pay tax for your money. Of course the tax should be fair and go into the correct pockets and spent wisely. But hiding money is often a problem for crime also. I don't wanna see a world full of hidden money fighting wars:-)
What do you think @crypto.piotr

Fair enough to some I extend I can agree to this but once you give them this freedom it could backfire in many instances. Majority of us will pay taxes but to give up rights completely would be difficult due to bleak reality that these people in control will use data collected to exploit us in the future. Money is the root of all evil and it definitely can fund wars. I do admit Crypto can be used for bad things, there will be some people who also exploit privacy to the next extend to harm others! Moderation, at least we should be given the choice, hence its always good to have more DEX's and privacy centric Cryptocurrencies out there

Just like Facebook did, we should be aware of spying from government. Even my all phone data is on facebook servers. Now in my country bitcoin is banned and if someone is mining btc, he will face serious consequences.
Yeah! Blockchain is actually people power and governments don’t like us to control our freedom.
You are absolutely right.

Horrible to be in a country that intends to outright ban Cryptocurrencies. They're going to have a tough time but so will the people! I would recommend that DEX cater to everyone, not like the whole IDEX ordeal where they requesting for KYC now. Hopefully, the government doesn't build a personal grudge against decentralized Exchanges

Dear @crypto.hype,

I agree with all the thoughts that you have drafted in this article. We may be under the radar of Governments and the officials in the governments might be tracking heavy transactions even if we use privacy and DEX's.

But why are we trying to adopt the new technologies. Are we trying to run away from the radar? I guess definitely not. If we trying to run away from the radar then we should go to Mars or Jupiter or even to big star like SUN. Definetly not possible atleast I suppose. We are trying to adapt new technologies to ease some of our pains that we are facing.

Why do somebody want to come out of the radar?
May be they might want to earn some extra bucks!!!

I definitely feel that after the regulations we can see drastic reductions in new ICO's that throws out false promises which inturn will help the investors safeguard their money.

Apart from above points which I have mentioned I wanna outline one more point. Why the blockchain technology has gain traction among the current young generation? It is because of transparency it has gained traction. What happens when you transfer funds using bitcoin. The entire world will know by watching ledger. Entire world means it is inclusive of governments. But who owns that address. How do somebody know? Who has that private keys? How do somebody know? Lets assume I own some private keys initially. If I sell those private keys to some Mr.X, will he be able to buy that one. Definitely not right. Because it is vulnerable. Instead he create one more wallet address and he will ask to transfer funds on the blockchain. It will avoid risk of vulnerability.

My point here is don't try to run out of the view from your Government instead work under the supervision and find out a way which might be beneficial for the individual.

Another one, why do we have to promote Decentralized Exchange? End of the day it is an exchange. Instead buy your own wallet and safeguard your assets. Exchange is just a facilitator which is helping you in conversions.

Double edged sword will cut your finger at the end point. Handle it properly. It will get you to victory else it will kill you.

This article has certainly raised some points but it is confined to limited area. The theme of this article is vast. So I tried to cut it as short as possible. It is an open end article which will allow you deep dive in an ocean. So my reply wont be sufficient.

Thanks to @crypto.piotr for promoting this article to me.

Well there is a decentralized exchange that I use once in a while called waves. https://wavesplatform.com/
Waves platform has many popular traded coins today including zcash, bitcoin, and litecoin to name a few. As well as businesses can create and distribute their own tokens on the platform as well. A user must safe guard your key because like steem there is no way to reset the password.
As for privacy and the governement, I say let the government be snoops all they want, lets just make them accountable for that. Lets put the government on the blockchain, and have every activity that a government worker orchestrates recorded, and transparently readable and in stone record for the public to view at all and anytime. Lets bring transparency to a whole other level. I do agree we need privacy in our lives but it should not be the place of the government to have all the privacy and the people in slaved in a system. Being open and honest and standing by ones morals and values will prove to be challenging as not everyone can or will agree, however hiding the truth from disagreeing opinions only compounds the problem and makes it worse later. Being transparent makes it possible for discussion and negotiation to take place. Which brings about change and change is what we need.snap4.jpg

Thank you for your amazing comment @brad-saunders and for sharing your thoughts on this particular topic

You reply blew my mind buddy :)

I used to be big fan of Waves too. Until I realized that it's very popular by people I dislike the most: russians :)

ps. you have a great point , that we shall expect goverments also to use blockchain and be transparent with society. I wonder if it will ever happend.

Thank you for being so supportive and responsive. I appreciate it a lot.

Yours
Piotr

To some extent, I would want a completely transparent system. To know where money is flowing, we could find out who actually funds wars. However, the sad reality is the government and banks will never be transparent with us. But it would much better if all of us are transparent with each other

we need to fire those governments and banks and start new ones.

we need to fire those governments and banks and start new ones.

thanks for the awareness

Thanks for dropping by @josephparker :)

Hello @crypto.hype
Very interesting your approach, we really have many good hopes around the blockchain and the crypto, thinking that it is the future of finance, decentralization as a way to liberate from the government or that small group that dominates the world markets .
The question is, as the friend @crypto.piotr says, that the more we try to cover up the more we notice, it is impressive how the "state apparatus" has absolute control over everything, it has been that way for many years, centuries, since monarchy was already a total control, now it follows sindo, only under other rules.
Protecting yourself is still very necessary, vital.
But who is certain that the electronic devices that we use are not manipulated to get information to the state, it is well known that large employers always have good relations with governments, in the end it is the latter who grant the licenses to produce.
Yes, we must see in the best way all that is happening in the world of the blockchain, but to what extent is all this the product of the economic manipulation of the same as the centralized entities?

I do not know.
Really thank you for opening this debate @crypto.hype, and @crypto.piotr for getting me this post.
Good day to all.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this particular subject @josevas217

Im glat to see that you found this topic interesting and you decided to share your views with us.

Appreciate.

Piotr

What you and @crypto.piotr do to set good standards on the blockhain is more than impressive. I admit I delegate more confidence to certain structures than it's reasonably necessary, so thank you for brushing out a clear point in this post.

Thank you for your kind words @ravijojla :)
Im glad to hear that you found our work here valuable.

Piotr

I do, indeed :-)
This, @crypto.piotr, helps people like me to get better understanding of the matter.

Maybe I will avoid going to hell @ravijojla :) Still need to do many good deeds :P

Such a busy life hehehe :)

Indeed, @crypto.piotr...but it's worth it :-)

Contrarian view: the world is going to complete transparency.

I put tape on my phone and laptop forever... If you are seriously paranoid, put your phone in a Mylar bag or Faraday cage... but all this is soo ridiculous now, with hundreds of thousands of camera's everywhere. Everyone has a tracking device, that uses a cell phone, we kinda let go of our freedom when buying the cell phone/computer cool aid..

I read an article recommended by @crypto.piotr a couple days ago, regarding crypto backed by digital gold, that sounds interesting and convoluted as well.

Time will tell... every empire under the sun, fiat currency eventually collapses, in my opinion from greed and misuse....it's time for a new paradigm, this might only change when we can get the power away from 100 families, no matter what the system, the same blood line agendas are in place, be paranoid about that and expose that shit for a new paradise on Earth, then we might have some real transparency. I was listening to a radio interview with Kent Lewis from social freedom network ions ago he traced the registry of btc, my understanding to it an address in Luxembourg where the banking elite own the planet. mmmmm that's something to look into?

Dear @kimmysomelove42

Thanks for this amazing comment and sharing your opinion.

but all this is soo ridiculous now, with hundreds of thousands of camera's everywhere.

Not only this. You see. I dont have cellphone at all but Im around people who have one and Im sure with current voice recognition it's easy to put 2 and 2 together and if I would talk with any of them about some sensitive topics (politics, religion) then I may be doomed anyway.

Everyone has a tracking device

I dont :) Got rid of it 3 years ago and I love it. Once Im closing my laptop then Im 100% offline. Not even my own mother or wife can reach me yeyeye. Amazing feeling :)

Cheers buddy
Piotr

Good for you!!! that must feel amazing! I turn my router and everything off at night, if I forget I notice my rest is not as deep..

Yeah! Using tape as well. It's not just us but regular users do it as well. It's becoming a common practice, especially for girls to cover up their webcam. I wouldn't be surprised there are loads of horror stories to be found online! I think the Elites play an important role when it comes to Cryptocurrencies

I saw this post through @crypto.piotr ,

Nowadays, The internet has never been safe for everybody. that is why self-awareness is important.
Many cases and crimes had been committed through online such as virus attack, hacking, and many cybercrimes.
As the world goes forward to a globalization of technology, many people are also trying to use it to benefit them self even in illegal matters such as Cybersex, Human Trafficking and etc.

People who are behind in the globalization are the most affected and victims of cyber attacks.

As of Now i am looking forward on how the authorities solve these problem and cases.

They've got eyes on us and we got eyes on them :) The internet is 21st-century battleground

Thanks for dropping by @junnel123 and sharing your thoughts.

that is why self-awareness is important.

Absolutely good point. I believe it's important to help people build their awarness.

I like your approach buddy :)

I only wish to understand why so many people seemed to believe that blockchain will give us people "freedom we deserve".

Privacy is the most important thing online, data collection is really frusterating as it also eats up precious bandwith overall 100% against data collection. p.s i cover my webcam as i tend to laugh or cry when watching funny/emotional series.

ahahhaa CIA, busy finding back doors to spy on you

yes and they try to spy on everyone including their grandmas lol

Nice article @crypto.hype,
However I think that the government would never fold it hands and let the crypto community take aways her must treasured resource 'real-time information of her citizens'. User's activities on decentralised exchanges wound be tracked in one way or the order probablly through their ISP else anybody linked to such platforms would simply be labelled a criminal or something even worse.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can never bring absolute privacy to the world because the Government is sure ready to buy them out simply by printing more money hence making it difficult for the masses to purshase them in the long run.

There's no place to hide from surveillance rather than in plain sight... watch what you say & do around any electronic device and most importantly what you post on them.

Thanks @crypto.piotr for pointing me in the right direction.

And yet another great feedback straighttalk

Very true. I would not do that if I were them.

Indeed. It's wise to think twice before you do anything. Anything at all.

Privacy is the biggest issue now a days because we are highly dependent on cyber world. This project is looking good for user's data privacy and have potential. If team works good for this concept then I am pretty hopeful for success of this concept.

This is an interesting topic and a very important one also. It's at the core if the very essence of blockchain in the first place.

Money is restricted and controlled.

I agree, but if we take a closer look at the cryptospace it's much the same thing. The same way governments control and can influence fiat, whales can do the same to crypto. How then is decentralization going to solve the problem of influence from a few?

The situation is even more critical in 3rd world countries where we are yet to solve problems of electricity, broadband penetration and the likes that cryptocurrency depends on. How then can we get away from the grip of traditional(centralized) financing?

I'm very sure all the three letter agencies would be on the crypto issue big time. And yes governments are smart, they might just be slow. They definitely will be thinking out ways to beat the crypto community in it's own game of privacy.

In my opinion, the war against privacy and centralization is far from won.

Thanks for letting me in on this.

Im glat to see that you found this topic interesting.

How then is decentralization going to solve the problem of influence from a few?

It surely won't solve that problem. But it's important to make people aware that being anonymous in this space is bullcrap and it simply doesnt exist.

I really wish to understand why so many people seemed to believe that blockchain will give us people "freedom we deserve".

In my opinion, the war against privacy and centralization is far from won.

We're on the same page here.

Well I'm definitely agreed with the points that you have raised. For me it's not the end of decentralisation we have seen its worst side but within months there's 100% possibility that we can see it's advantages.

Hi @crypto.hype, I was brought here by @crypto.piotr advice. Well, your article is right, but we need to find out some other way how to easily transfer money and change it for crypto, especially the privacy coins. If you can mine your Monero, you are hidden somehow, but if you buy it on centralized exchange and then transfer to your whatever wallet, there is still some kind of record, that you got it. And that you want to hide something, so its kind of a red sign upon you then.
I think we still need to wait a bit with the solutions, the crypto industry is still in the beginnings. But improving :-)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this particular subject @ritxi

And that you want to hide something, so its kind of a red sign upon you then.

That's a very valid point.

Great article on a very important topic @crypto.hype also thanks @crypto.piotr for introducing me to this conversation.

Firstly, I must say I'm a total greenhorn to the world of investing in general and especially in regards to crypto.

So, call it naivety but as I began my edification into the wealth of subject matter pertaining to crypto one of my immediate realisations was a difficult war was inevitable between the machine of global economic powers and the private sector. In fact the lines of public and private sectors would theoretically be obliterated if a mass exodus from fiat were to ever take root.

It is indeed a Xmas wish to ever dream governments will be willing to voluntarily incorporate transparency into their business model. The back door deals, secret alliances, and true intentions of their purposeful chess game would be devastating to the intrinsic dishonesty their capitalist system of corruption survived upon. This will have at first detrimental repercussions on the fabric of society.

I think we must take a good hard look in the mirror and ask ourselves what does privacy mean to us all, and how tied to the profit margins inherent in a supply and demand system of economics are we?

What I think we are on the precipice of is a potential to step away from capitalism itself. This will be a long arduous battle that will likely have dire consequences. You see fundamental to this fantasy I'm eluding to is a paradigm shift that currently is unfathomable. That is to not be dominated by the fear of a scarcity model of goods and services and to see that there indeed exists a state of abundance.

A health is wealth mentality whereby Ubuntu is the principle foundation. Ubuntu basically is the belief that no one is left behind or outcasted, that we as a unit are only truly as strong as our weakest link, and it is this unit that's responsible for strengthening the bonds.

In conclusion, I will reiterate that what we are taking part in is a revolution of the mind, matrix style lol, and if we cannot see that our governments in reality have served a purpose in reflecting back our own individual and collective nature then we will be destined to forever pass the proverbial buck. This is just enslavement with more bells and whistles to argue about, creating a sophisticated division that a layperson in a rice paddy will never hope to comprehend.

Look no further than the failed economic system of our microcosm here, that is largely dominated by fear and alliances formed in discord or in secret chambers. This is your true conspiracy theory unveiled, the harsh reality that collectively we are flawed and mostly driven to protect our interests at all costs, now we just can't see our assailants as well as they can see us... "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"

first it all, thanks @crypto.hype for this amazing info and @crypto.piotr for including me in this topic...

So, I´m completely agree with all your words your posting, this is a huge wrong idea, how can we imagine having not a privacy, blockchain, cryptocurrency, globalization, should be public... and everything was created or for now is creating transparency... according to SEC and everybody knows the SEC requires public and other regulated companies to provide quarterly and annual reports that detail the working process of the company during that period of time. All reports are available to the public, one of the main tasks of the SEC is to investigate the cryptocurrency market and investment facilities related to it in order to reveal any illegal actions, such as selling securities under the guise of tokens..... I don´t have any idea how the government could be working in this, they don´t have any idea how blockchain works, this is only money in their pockets, they don´t think about population, population is nothing for all of them this is just a number... We can continue working well "under the radar". like @crypto.piotr said

As always your comments are right on top of the game @edgarare1

big thank you ...!! I´m just trying my best...

Hi @crypto.hype I came here via @crypto.piotr.
Very interesting thoughts on this topic. You are totally right that everyone should fight for their rights in order to keep privacy private.

But I also do not agree with you because everyone has the CHOICE to join social media like Facebook, Instagram or Steemit. There is a ticking box where you agree to their conditions, so you agree that you share your privacy with them.

Furthermore, you do not have to share your information with them. Noone asks you to share your relationship status, upload pictures of your family or post things what you do at the moment.

That means you could also join for example Facebook just to communicate with people you do not have regular contact with.

The government tries to protect privacy at the moent argueing with the big corporations like Google, Facebook or Apple, at least in Germany. Sure they could do better and be more honest, but at least they have some kind of effort to protect us.

I do not say that everything is fine and I am worried about my privacy in the future but when you choose to be part of the interent, you have the risk to provide information to someone who could abuse it.

Keep up the good work budy and thank you @crypto.piotr for showing me this nice post.

Congratulations @crypto.hype, you have received a --VOTE_EIGHT--% upvote. I'm the Vietnamese Community bot developed by witness @quochuy and powered by community SP delegations

The truth is that no matter how hard we try to create an anonymous community, unfortunately, this is not yet possible.

What are the ways to get cryptocurrency from us?
Investing ICO
Hunting
Trading
Fiat investment

Now, as you know, almost everywhere, a KYC identity verification procedure is required. ow, they are developing this tool very strongly. Already have a video confirming identity. What kind of anonymity can we talk about?
Wherever we go, as a community, the government will still impose open data or influence our community in a different way.

I ran into a problem. There were many projects that allowed anonymously to withdraw money. There were a lot of projects and they all stopped issuing plastic cards. The government simply fooled MasterCard. And this situation is everywhere now.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this particular subject @carbodexkim

The truth is that no matter how hard we try to create an anonymous community, unfortunately, this is not yet possible.

That's a very valid point. We can go somewhere to Africa, hide in the jungle and create small community there. That may be one of very few ways to be anonymous :)

ps. why did you "center" your comment? it made it very difficult to read :(

Enjoy your weekend buddy,

@Piotr Sir,

"...... to Africa, hide in the jungle and create small community..... "

Unfortunately, we are forced to do like that.

But at the same time, we must go there with a group of scientists where they will innovate a new technology to connect with the world through our own "INTERNET!"

So we can get ourselves connected with the world without the government's knowledge. So our whereabouts will be under the secret cover, but that we can mingle with the world in an anonymous way!

Just an imagination.... If we are inventing internet in our mode, we need to do sort of everything that a human being needs to survive, which is why make this concept a completely unfeasible one!

Thank you @marvyinnovation for being so responsive.

Seriously amazing comment.
Piotr

Thank you Piotr Sir.

@crypto.piotr Just spent a little experiment. But apparently nothing came of it))) Well, I don't think we want to live in the jungle by a small group of people. ) Because we will be closed. And it will not be difficult to develop further. And since the Internet is being monitored, then we will completely lose touch with reality.

In jungle they do not have wifi, aircon, pizza delivery and no Internet!

Of course jungle is out of the way @carbodexkim hahaha :)

Cheers,
Piotr

First of all, I found the article very good. Whereby it should basically be the question, whether you want anonymity or not. Here at Steem is e.g. Every Purse Open - Anyone can look everyone in their purse and even look at their past spending and revenue. This has an effect, whether this is positive or negative is not clear. It is true that many users here reward others for desired behavior, e.g. Upvotes are offered to members who buy Steem and add them to their Steempower and become members whose behavior you do not like, e.g. because they have voted themselves or set too big a bounty punished with downvotes. Whether it really is an advantage that this is made decentralized, as if it would do a central job is not clear. On the other hand, it is also true that anonymity is not without problems. On the one hand, it would make it possible for the anonymity to operate criminals better and, on the other hand, options like downvotes would certainly be used much more extensively if an anvil could be handed down anonymously.

And yet another great feedback :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this particular subject @udow

That's a very valid point. I actually enjoy being able to spy on people. If I see someone with little resources I know that I may like to engage with such a person. Whoever is rich - I stay away :)

Enjoy your weekend buddy,
Piotr

yes it's good point !
But you can see much more about everybody f.e. at steemword.
You can see whom he vote, you can see his online times, you can see how often he vote himself and much more...

Very true. Everyone can "spy" on you now @udow :)

A friend of mine who are in the field of cyber security said, that to be really indulging in a cyber secure environment is to be paranoid on everything that watches over you...

Let us not too much exaggerate things, yes, privacy and security of identity online is now a definite right.

Let us help educate first the masses. Let them carry the decision whether they wanted to be anonymous or not.

Second, do not always put the blame to the government (like blaming the devil of everything bad happen to you, which he never did that in the first place), how can you blame the government when in reality and by law the government can, and will do that eventually.

Abuse can be prevented for as long there will more people who will be aware of the truth and willing to announce the truth in the same manner how the government spy on you, let we spy on the government too.

To fear that the government is spying on us, will only lead us to make more mistakes.

Just be aware, that the present time and the future is a place where nothing can be hide, and that transparency and accountability will be the norms.

The same technology that they use against the people is the same technology that the people can use against the government.

What we can do, is let many people learn this, awareness, let the technology evolve, people should learn the technology, look for ways to use it to our advantage.

And be a good citizen, be a good person. Be HUMAN.

At the end, its man who decide for these technology on how it will used, the same old weakness, its because we are humans.

The problem of privacy in a digital age can rightly be considered as one of the main issue of our time.

Bonus/Malus system for each citizen

Recently I heard of a program that China is planning which really shows what awaits us around the corner. There are 200 millions surveillance camera in China and a very powerful face recognition software is able to identify every citizen of this huge country within seconds.

In the near future, China is planing a system that will give points to the people. If they behave well they win points, if they behave badly they loose points. What is well and what is bad remains difficult to grasp.

This fully automatic system will then influence whether people get credits from banks for example. If people have a very bad rating however they might loose the right to take a plane for example...

Where this might lead us is indeed very scary. The biggest challenge in such a system is to define what is right and what is wrong...

Dear @achim03

I always enjoy reading your comments my old good friend. Seriously it always put a smile on my face.

Recently I heard of a program that China is planning which really shows what awaits us around the corner.

Are you talking about their Social Credit system? It already exist since 2015.

Funny thing is that it looks like a scam. If you do something wrong then your SC will go down and you are going to have trouble purchasing plane/train tickets or staying in nice hotels etc.

But in order to recover your SC you need to do "good deeds". And donating money to goverment is one of those ways. So that is exactly what people are doing out there. Crazy, isnt it?

It is scary as hell, but I guess those who have enough money will always do just fine. Only poor will suffer even more.

Piotr

Ok, we know that governments do everything necessary to have control of the entire society, and in that eagerness they will invest the resources they believe necessary to achieve their objective. Certainly we must be in the disposition to support projects that give us the financial freedom we need and the privacy that this requires to avoid being victims of any abuse. Thank you for sharing this valuable information for me that I just started in this world of crypto. Blessings to you.

Even if the technology itself fulfilled all of its promises, the bug in the ointment is legislation. There will be no privacy as long as the government requires reporting. Google was forced to give up data on its users so that the federal government can prosecutes crimes. It's a sad fact that some people would use privacy to shield themselves from the consequences of criminal activity. That's why Silk Road was shut down. We need the government to be able to prosecute crime, but we also need it to protect citizen rights, one of which is privacy. There needs to be more political action at the legislative level to educate legislators on the technology and all its legal implications.

I've had the reservations between the vast opportunities that the blockchain technology presents us nowadays but at the same time the immutable ledger that it contains. The people are the ones that get screwed because we are using it; the big businesses and politicians aren't going to be the ones using it so we can track their transactions. The privacy coins and decentralized exchanges are going to be fought tooth and nail by the powers that be but I think we can overcome that because we are many more than they and that comes with a big advantage.

I really love to check out decentralised exchanges for I heard your cryptos stored there are safer because you have control over your private keys. But, I am not comfortable with privacy coins that are untraceble coz they may create dark web like silk route. Also, looks like public are stupid, we are eyeing stuff like crypto custody services where Organisatons own and manage your crypto holding for you. I think majority of the public like banks and some centralisation atleast to know who sent cryptos to who, because crypto privacy should not be used for wrong purposes. In general I believe public does not care and not ready to accept the power of financial privacy, but its just my opinion, they just want convinience, low fees, security of financial assets, that's why even crypto unfriendly countries like India accept XRP, that's very centralised coz its traceable .

Excellent article, I am one of those people that you call new in the chain of blocks but with interest to continue learning about centralized exchanges. I have no doubt that there is interest in centralizing many interested.
The fact of tracking applied to the chain of blocks already generates doubts that is why it is important to learn to protect yourself, I agree with that and with the rights that we deserve to own our assets. I totally agree with you @crypto.hype but this is quite difficult, as Piotr said technology is totally ruling by the governments of most countries, so it is difficult to get complete privacy.

Nowadays government interference almost every movement of citizens. In this moment whenever I discuss about crypto with my friends or relatives they judge me as a sinful person, because the GOVT creats many confusions about crypto in our country. I live in India and in this time Our Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) has triggered a No-Crypto thought on the citizens.

No nation and its governments are as stupid as we understand people. Government is one step ahead of our thinking and ideas. It is a matter of note that we only run a family or run a blockchain while the government controls the whole nation. Due to high technology and digital money, they look at all our activities. Even the cryptocurrency market is not untouched. This is the reason why the government has not yet considered these crypto people as legal. Where all activities are going online, how long can privacy be maintained? I do not think the business of digital money can be kept confidential for a long time. The use of applications is the biggest threat to privacy because while opening them, we have to give data of our communication and in most cases KYC verification has to be done as well. The technology needs to be constantly developed to improve the privacy of technology usage.
In the coming days, the communication of all business will be done by digital money, so the government needs to discuss it and think about recognizing them.

Hello, very interesting this topic, I did not know that there was a project of this type, because it is true that every time we have less privacy in our transactions. Now, these projects need a big monetary boost to get ahead, because from my vision I think that financing through tokens has been falling a lot. I would like to have an Exchange like the one promised here, but I do not risk investing in a token project unless the investment is really low. I hope that the project goes to the market and can have this type of services and thus give the true use to cryptocurrencies.
