Renewal of the HBD Stabilizer Proposal for Q2-2025
To maintain the operation of a crucial component of Hive's financial infrastructure, I am pleased to announce the renewal of the HBD Stabilizer proposal for the upcoming Q2-2025. This renewal ensures the continued support of Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) price stability, a key aspect in promoting the overall economic health of our blockchain ecosystem.
Previously, as @smooth was too busy to handle it, I undertook the management of this proposal to prevent any disruption as the existing proposal was nearing expiration. Together, we continue to demonstrate our shared commitment to upholding a stable and resilient economy.
The HBD Stabilizer
The HBD Stabilizer is an important tool to maintain the Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) price stability. It serves as a significant mechanism in ensuring the stability of our blockchain economy.
The entire budget sent to the stabilizer is used for trading by its charter before being returned to the DHF.
If HBD exceeds the target value, the stabilizer sells HBD to try to reduce the value, which also generates a profit for the stabilizer, and the profit is returned to the DHF. If the value is more than $1.05, the stabilizer will also start to convert HIVE into HBD, which removes HIVE from circulation and also produces more HBD which can be sold, potentially with a profit.

For what little it is worth, I am IN! Being able to stabilize HBD in the Wild West that is crypto is a power move for the brand. Also love how it supports the value of Hive as well for the community.
I was wondering if holding HBD in savings helps the Stabilizer or value of HBD indirectly?

Holding HBD in savings definitely increases the value of HBD and indirectly of HIVE (since HBD is created from destroyed HIVE). In the present environment where 'stabilizing' usually means increasing it by buying (because the primary force on HBD is people selling their rewards), holding it does help stabilize it.
What a concise way of explaining that. I was hoping I was doing a good thing in addition to diversifying my stake and the reward associated with that.

Regarding your question about savings, while it doesn't directly contribute to the operations of the HBD Stabilizer, it does have indirect benefits as holding HBD in savingsreduce the circulating supply of liquid HBD. This can help stabilize its price by decreasing immediate selling pressure.

Why not a longer duration of the proposal with 6 months or 1 years basis?
While longer lasting proposals might seem convenient, short ones offer a practical approach, allowing for more frequent evaluations and adjustments.
