This is exactly what the #yunk community is all about. @Clevercreator has been supporting my witness from the beginning because our goal is to grow that witness so we can fund projects like hers. So she can pay steemians for their work keeping everything in the eco-system while growing it. I love you two for being you and helping others out like this.
I don't think we've ever crossed paths. I'm glad there's other long timers that support the community like this. I know most of us are new and without people like you and Clevercreator, I don't think a lot of us would have lasted. You gave us a sort of refuge from the jarring world of convoluted social media. You gave us harbor here on a platform you help shaped before us and took us in without question or judgement. I support you for this and am voting for your witness right now.

Nobody is going to want to hear this but she probably needs to file Bankruptcy ASAP. Any donations made to her will be better spent getting her out from underneath the medical debt.
Filing the petition will put a stay on the eviction process immediately.
That will buy her some time.
If she's self employed and facing eviction, I would think she qualifies for a Chapter 7. She won't lose her car or her possessions.
My wife is a BK Attorney in Michigan and has helped a lot of people out from under medical debt, especially after the free government insurance.
We don't know anyone in Iowa so I can't recommend a good attorney there but she should find one who offers a flat fee, don't go with someone who quotes their prices as "starting at..."
I'll volunteer for my wife to talk to her if need be and give her some advice.
She loves waking up to things I volunteer her for.

Anyway, here in Canada all one needs is a bankruptcy trustee...cost a couple hundred...this isn't an option in the US?
The Trustee here in the US represents the creditor's interests not the debtor's.
They're not only not impartial, they get a cut of whatever they can recover and they're very annoyed by people who try and represent themselves.
You're way better off getting someone who's done a few hundred of them and make it as quick and painless as possible.
