Nobody is going to want to hear this but she probably needs to file Bankruptcy ASAP. Any donations made to her will be better spent getting her out from underneath the medical debt.
Filing the petition will put a stay on the eviction process immediately.
That will buy her some time.
If she's self employed and facing eviction, I would think she qualifies for a Chapter 7. She won't lose her car or her possessions.
My wife is a BK Attorney in Michigan and has helped a lot of people out from under medical debt, especially after the free government insurance.
We don't know anyone in Iowa so I can't recommend a good attorney there but she should find one who offers a flat fee, don't go with someone who quotes their prices as "starting at..."
I'll volunteer for my wife to talk to her if need be and give her some advice.
She loves waking up to things I volunteer her for.

Anyway, here in Canada all one needs is a bankruptcy trustee...cost a couple hundred...this isn't an option in the US?
The Trustee here in the US represents the creditor's interests not the debtor's.
They're not only not impartial, they get a cut of whatever they can recover and they're very annoyed by people who try and represent themselves.
You're way better off getting someone who's done a few hundred of them and make it as quick and painless as possible.
