Over the past few months I have been using facebook less and less.
In fact one of the things I do most on facebook is frequent steemit related groups and have started adding steemians I like as friends. I find myself wholly underwhelmed by facebook these days in general but when it is filled with steemit posts and steemit related talks, I am in!
Having conversations about steemit publicly on facebook helps to change people's "too good to be true" mentality and open their eyes to the fact that Steemit's community is vibrant and thriving and that people really ARE making money.
Yesterday, thanks to @winstonwolfe posting I was able to take part in a conversation on facebook with @sykochica and was able to connect with her on facebook. I had followed her blogs for awhile but had never had a back and forth like this on facebook with a fellow Steemian. The conversation also went on without me and continued to be influential to those fence-sitters I wanted to share the interaction:
I had already been using facebook to create hype about steemit but I am taking a page from Winston's playbook in the future and creating meaningful conversations with other steemians to help sell our cause.
It is important to convert people on facebook. We have a huge audience that is already mindlessly clicking and scrolling for free. It may take a bit to unbrainwash them but it is definitely possible!
Haha! I'm already posting less and less on facebook. To be honest I never really like fb to begin with. I mostly used it to stay in touch with family that live far away. Steemit just has that something that I can't explain. You just wanna blog here!! Yes it's nice to earn something for posting your content, there is no denying that. I know so many people that work so hard to promote their business on facebook or instagram only to get very little to nothing in return. I've been telling them to move here and it's just nice to see that they get something in return. : )

I agree with you because am using Steemit now.
What Steemit has is engagement :D We all have a huge incentive to be engaged at every level, posting, commenting, curating etc. and as a brand new user I was surprised to learn that there are only about 35000 users on Steemit because with all the engagement I thought this was a mainstream blogging site for a minute ^_^
I didn't see any comments on shadow-bans?
I had a GREAT time with this. While strange to not have the upvote/like button do anything...still..well worth it to get stuff like that in front of Facebookers..er, I mean potential Steemians! :P

I missed a lot of people on here too at that time...I just needed the break for a bit. I usually 'toe the line' between cracking out/obsession of something fun and burnout.

haha Yeah the like button on facebook seems so useless now but it definitely helps create a sense of "this is real" for the potential steemians.
Ok seriously how many people am I going to run into here that I know from real life/Facebook?! I'm Matt's cousin in that screenshot and that I read that whole comment chain while waiting on my account approval!
omg really? XD That is awesome. That is also a really good sign. That means steemit is definitely getting more mainstream. :D I can't wait for all my friends to move over here. That is my goal.

Hahha! I must be spending less time on Facebook too! Because I liked that post, But never saw that convo. LOL! Steemit is changing so many lives. I feel like Facebook has robbed lives to a certain degree. Because it's this constant addiction that doesn't give us anything (facebook).
Yeah especially if you add in the pointless stupid addictive games that some people spend real money on. It costs people time, energy, money. It's suck a black hole that is good for nothing.

I have had a love/hate relationship with FaceBook for the past few months. I deleated my original account a while back, but then created another one thinking it might be useful. Now I'm going to look up the Steemit related groups on FaceBook and see if I can help do something useful. Thanks for the ideas!

Exactly. It is so boring for me to be one facebook now unless it is to talk about Steemit and promote it. haha
I'm one of the @winstonwolfe converts ( from his video a CPL days ago ) and I'm digging steemit, but more in a Reddit style fashion. Facebook is is more for reaching out to family/friends for me, and less about creating meaningful content.
So I have sort of tasked each for it's own purpose and am holding onto a balance.
That, and I'm still quite the minnow here... So I'm a bit hesitant to fully abandon FB for now. ;-)
I myself stay on fb to stay connected to my far away friends. I will always probably have it but I no longer sit there for hours meaninglessly scrolling. It feels nice. :)
Yeah, I never really did. Top 10 or so posts, but mostly just to pop in with something witty (at least I always thought so...), make sure everyone is ok, and stalk an ex or two. ;-)
I stopt using Facebook a long time ago, i do have my acount so people can find me, but other than that... nothing.
Discoverd steemit a few days ago and loving it already been encouraging people from day one to also join.

I am trying so hard to get my friends and family to join, but they think steemit is a scam or just are "afraid of change". I think that once steemit goes main streem they are going to rush to join, so i'm not too hung up on it. The only thing is that when they join, guess who they are going to ask for resteems and upvotes lol Of course I will help them out, but It sucks that I have to grind to the top while they will just reap the benefits off my hard work. Oh well I guess that's whale problems for ya haha Great post!
How long have you been here? My friends only started being convinced when they realized I had been at it for a year now and it's still going well. Just keep posting about it. :) My friends now see me legit paying rent, buying a new computer. It's obviously legit rewarding me and they are rushing over now.
I've only been here for a month, so I absolutely agree with you! I Just hope the train doesn't leave the station before I'm reputation 72, posting memes about unicorns making $100 a post haha I'm just playing though. Quality content all the way! Congrats on your success though. I sometimes visit the trending and hot tabs to get some motivation from bloggers like you, so I can continue to keep my head down and keep steemin haha

I found out about Steemit through someone I know who mentioned it in the comments I was intrigued so I put it in my browser, and am hooked. Only been here 8 days now, but I transfer the earnings from my first day to test everything out and once I went onto the market I made $70.22 I made two posts that day and commented on maybe 10 plus resteemed a couple of posts that day. I have other posts maturing in about 30 minutes that I know I made on just one what I did on the other I am hooked and using facebook less as I been on here reading, posting and commenting.
Wow, agroup of people who have a like minded come together sure will have some brilliants idea!

Ya know if I was into Fakebook, I would do that. Only thing I use it for is business but even that is lame now because you post something & they say..."You only reached 20 people. Pay us $5 for a boost!" To which my response is...
paying for promoting on fb is so useless too. I was suckered into it in the past with 0 results.
You ain't kiddin! I received a $75 credit so I was testing some ads out. Spent $50 of it w/tons of impressions & clicks & not one conversion. Keep in mind I don't sell anything on my site it's just a email sign up I was lookin for. Then, I go to spend the last $25 I had left of it & they disapproved all of my ads because I have those native ads (taboola, outbrain etc.) on my site & they said they were too "sexually suggestive." SO I responded..."Really? A company that makes billions in revenue purely from questionable ads, lets people get raped & murdered on livestreams, terrorists post shit all over the network, doesn't like the ads on my site cuz it might have a lady in a bra?! That's ironic don't cha think?!" I never heard back from them! lmao
Finally a person who actually writes stuff and not copy\pastes from random websites... now.........where do I click to follow..lol
Oh no youve seen a lot of that? My feed is filled with awesome bloggers I like. I am pretty sure there is accounts that try to filter plagiarizing and fraudulent posts. I will figure out who you should tag and let you know.

I just started my steemit account today! So far I'm bumbling around and trying to figure it out, but hopefully in time I will understand and learn more about it and get to meet more like minded people :)

Yeah I use it mostly to get people over. I also moved from FL to MN and am disabled and cant leave my home so I do use it to stay connected to my close friends. Trying to get them all over here though. :)

Great ideas. I also post on Steemit groups of Facebook and @jessamynorchard started a Steemit Musicians group on FB for the Steemit Open Mic contest. It's bringing people over to Steemit. Oh, and yes, I made money on Steemit today.

Today is my first day on Steemit and I've already had several conversations with non-steemers and posted 2 of my posts on my Facebook page!! FB is my farm for Steemit followers, every day I am getting more and more people asking how it works and if I'm really making money, and how to get it out.
I recently got banned for an inside joke with a friend, the joke itself has literally nothing to do with community standards or T&C's.
I really hope Facebook begins to become phased out and crypto based social media platforms take it over.
