Movement - Freewrite

Freewrite (10).png

This is a Freewrite for this prompt

I saw a movement behind the bushes and my heart froze. I stood still, concentrating with all my might to see if I could figure out what it was. My ears were like radars, scanning, scanning, scanning.
Crack.
I jumped.
I wish I had brought my flashlight or at least the moon was out. But no such luck.
Always wary of the dark, I wasn't sure why I had decided to walk out here where nobody was around to hear me scream.
Sometimes, our brain, our knowledge - what is the damn word that only wants to pop into my head in German.
Our - shit! Now, I am totally out of it because German came into my freaking brain and it won't go away -- at least it is holding on to the word.
Maybe I have to do it like so many people do when they speak to someone who doesn't understand their language. They say the same thing again, only louder.
So, I am screaming at myself in my brain. Results- nothing. Still the same freaking word in the wrong language.
Of course, there is no rule to write the freewrite in English. I could totally switch to German - If only I could.
I find when I am writing text and emails to my German family, I always try to sneak in English. I do remember writing forever and ever and ever in German - now, it doesn't flow anymore. It seems stiff. It has become a language that is difficult for me to express myself in. So weird that your original language could become the one less familiar after awhile...
ding a ding.... done LOL

interesting freewrite 😁 - I know how it feels, because I am often messing things up when it comes to German, English and Italian. If I need the Italian word the English word comes into my mind, when I need the English word only German comes into my mind. That's why I have always a translator app/website at hand - when I see the translation, I am often in the situation where I think "of course, you stupid brain, you knew that word"...

Do I interpret it right that you are aware of the German language?

Yes. I grew up in Germany and came to the US as an adult :)
The translator is a good thing - but if you write in the most dangerous writing app, there is no time to look up anything. If you stop for 3 seconds, everything you wrote disappears. That is why it is great for a freewrite - you just have to keep going LOL

Ivan not yet ready and reside in Grammarly for the time being, forcing myself to ignore typos as long as the 5 minutes run ;)

That works. I just find Grammarly sometimes gets a bit overzealous with trying to correct us :) But I love it and use it all the time.

Yep, that’s right. The corrections are sometimes (at least for me) even weird... and I rewrite the whole sentence afterwards.

Darling - it looks like you are new. Here are some tips on how to act here on Steemit.
