Simon, freewrite is an exercise many writers use. You get a prompt and write. No thinking. allowing the subconscious to take over. No right or wrong. In our case, it has developed into a community and everyone approaches it differently. some do the 5 minutes and stop, others use the 5 minutes as a beginning and keep writing if a story develops. Others take their original 5-minute piece and carefully craft it into a story.
We believe in freedom and applaud all.
The important part is to write as often as you can - maybe daily - and to support each other by reading, commenting and voting, if we can, each other's pieces.
