I see you are in California, so i think they should grow well for you. I just popped out and took this shot with my iPhone. A few are on the ground, but I hope these will grow to maturity!
I have some dried papaya seeds that I need to get in the ground. Are they easy to germinate?

Ok I have around 20 ish seeds. I'll give them a try in some post-mix soil.

That is a beautiful papaya tree. I would love the fruit and shade from a beauty like that!
We'll see if they ripen and if i can pick them before the birds get at them. They love to eat my figs!
Birds can be a challenge ... hang foil in the trees (or other shiny things) to discourage all but the crows.
Not sure what to do if you get fig beetles though.
