Question for the Fitness Freaks - What's the best breakfast to start my day ?

in #health8 years ago

So, I've woken up early and been for a run and a swim and feel great. Now, I want to know whats the healthiest breakfast to get my day started? Do I need to eat something light to get my metabolism started? Should I just have a juice or fruit?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Probably depends on your goals, but the general recommendation is that your body is more efficient with the protein intake immediately after exercise so I would load up on protein, like eggs.

thanks for the tip, you can't go wrong with eggs. My main goal at the moment is to lose a bit of weight. I'm making more of an effort to eat whole foods and think more about what I put into my body. Recently, the most common breakfast has been a protein shake, a banana, and some muesli with fresh yoghurt.

If you've had any sort of physical activity, protein would be a good idea. Eggs are protein-rich and nutrient-rich. Green veggies should rock your plate at every meal and breakfast is no exception - Whether you're a green smoothie type of person or a sautée-my-spinarch, the fiber, nutrients and the cooking fat with keep you full for a long time. On the go, nuts will work in a pinch. In fact, legendary coach Charles Poliquin recommends a meat&nuts breakfast.

I advise against juice, as it is mostly sugar and not really nutrient-dense. Fruit is... Okay I guess, certainly not better than a protein source and greens.

Hope it helps!

Love the tip. I am totally down for rocking greens at every chance I get, though to be honest they don't usually see their way into my breakfast, but its something I can change. For juice I always try to avoid packet and bottled juice and buy freshly blended. Thanks for your advice :)
