Making Money from Urbex is BAD, that is a FACT.

…’I wrote the below yesterday when I was fuming. I’m not anymore but I still disagree with some of the opinions of the overall NON-STEEM Urbex community’…

I have a headache right now, and that’s due to stupidity. You see I posted something on the premier UK Urbex site, www.28dayslater.co.uk and was sent a whole load of shit back for doing so.

I have nothing against these regular Urbex sites. I find them a great source of information, but they have a stigma and reputation of hosting a selection of small-minded Elite motherfuckers.

Now because I’m posting this on the STEEM blockchain, I can say such things. There are no moderators to censor my words and perhaps that is why I have found a home.

My original post was to find a partner, not a shagging partner but someone to accompany me into buildings that are falling apart.

You see I don’t like to solo them as I might fall down a hole, let go of my phone and then it’s bye-bye world.

’I do want to live, not be found in skeletal form some years later’

From what I read, you need some creditability on www.28dayslater.co.uk for anyone to EVEN talk to you. I have found one of the moderators a friendly bloke and he’s on another one named https://www.oblivionstate.com/community/.

image.png

...'Thanks 'The_Raw' for being a decent person and not being small-minded'...

Making money from Urbex is BAD, that’s the word on the street and the word is GOD.

The community has made their decision and if you don’t agree then you are an outcast.

Urbex is a hobby and you should NEVER make a penny from the countless hours of investigating, reconnaissance trips, unique photography, the individual writing of between 500-800 words per visit which goes into great detail.

No, it’s frowned upon in the community.

It makes us look bad, you should not sell out.

Just who am I selling out too? I'm not selling my stories to a newspaper, and if that's the reasoning then I agree with the Urbex community.

I was not really aware of this until today. I won’t be posting any more content on www.28dayslater.co.uk from now. I will need to find other ways of getting my connections.

image.png

...'I wish I had never mentioned STEEM, in fact I attempted to deter him about STEEM'...

Do these guys have a point, or am I being lumped me in with the YouTube boys who create video blogs giving away locations, and making it damn obvious where time-capsules are located?

I don’t do that, I create stories. I don’t reveal locations or how to get in. Locations are marked on the steeemitworldmap.com, but that doesn’t mean they exist at that precise point.

Then some dude then started to accuse me of shilling STEEM and ‘selling the dream’ as I had mentioned it in passing, but NOT for this reason.

image.png

...'other people's content? Fuck off, it's all MY content'...

Can you please tell me about this dream, because I want to be there? STEEM for me now is more like a nightmare.

It’s crypto-currency, its dodgy, its criminal, its weapons, its drugs. Of course, we are all the fucking same you ignorant twat.

…‘did you know that my dream is to make LESS money than what McDonald's pay'…

That’s the STEEM dream, why don’t you all join… just for the fucking money, nothing else.

Yes, I’m pissed right now and for good reason. People should close their fucking mouths before spouting off in public about shit they know nothing about.

The STEEM Blockchain (steempeak.com) is a blogging platform for ANY type of content. Don’t expect to make masses of money or you will be sorely disappointed. At least one of these guys knows what it is.

There I said it. Come for the freedom, the lack of censorship, the drama, the community but NOT for the money.

image.png

...'I'm not going to argue with 'tigger'. He knows nothing of STEEM and to be frank farting is more productive to me than responding to his accusations'...

I hope some of the www.28dayslater.co.uk crew see this. I will be tweeting it but we are in a different universe here in the STEEM world. It won’t surprise me if it fails to get to any of them.

Maybe they will never read this but writing about it gives me a way to vent and earn some of those less than minimum wage riches that are going to change my life forever.

Jeeves.., bring my Lamborghini; yes the red one, the yellow one is reserved for Thursdays.

Fuck these dicks. They works like an elitist bunch of internet dwellers.

It's like playing away from home, commenting on these other websites. Nobody knows me, or what I do here.. you have to start from nothing.

I don't want or need to do that so I'll be the guy lurking from now on. They do hold great info and reports but none are as colourful or wordy as mine.

If I replicated a full one I would get criticised for telling them about the fat bloke who chased me out wielding a chainsaw, or the filters on my imagery are too harsh.

I have seen them tear other posts apart. Can't people show some tact, or is it full of 12 year olds who haven't learned what that is yet?

They will be a bunch of losers and no mistake. I had a similar reaction on a music site once when I had a mini gig interviewing bands for an online mag and I put a post up asking if anyone fancied it and the initial positive replies turned into a coordinated attack on the "muso journalists" who just want to use an artists talents to make themselves known. You couldnt make it up

Unless I put this on Facebook in the Urbex communities pages there's little chance they will ever see this. I really cant be arsed... know what I mean?

I know whatcha mean. Feck em. Take what you can from them by lurking!

I'm a bot. I detect haiku.

This is the world, though.
It is frustrating when you are an honourable person and walk into a wasps'nest without realising.
I found a similar thing talking to the University: (not the hate, that's the Internet for you) their view was that it was a scam and/or for organised crime. My view is that blockchain is an important technology and serious crime shouldn't have the monopoly on the potential economic and social benefits. Now they've gone the other way and want to de-bunk the myths (good) and explain that it's risk-free (erm, no it isn't). It's hard work and these are nice people trying to understand.
I would just walk away for a bit and let them get over their drama, everyone enjoys a drama and the One True Way is always a good excuse for everyone to pile on. Maybe post something later if it suits you.
But I did enjoy your post, I like a good rant :)

I'm OK now, but wrote most of the yesterday in anger. Never a good idea but it always seems to happen.

The consensus is that I'm somehow selling out and that Urbex should be firmly underground. I can see the point of some of them in that sense, but I'm hardly profiteering here!

How long is it going to take before people realise that being crypto based doesn't make us scammers?

I have put hours into writing these up, more for myself so I can look back on them and remember the bloke with the hooked nose giving me a hard time when approaching some building.

They are stories, not just reports. I don't think my stories would go across well on those forums.. as they just want facts and not my warped humour interjected into the dialogue.

I won't be told what to write, and how to do it by anyone.

Sounds like a basic troll job to me. People are dumb. I think the current situation in the world is pretty good evidence of that. Sorry that you had to go through this. It's never fun being ganged up on.

I should have known better than to post on there. You can pickup contacts from Facebook easier. I have learned my lesson.

No doubt they cry at the drop of a hat when they are blocked/censored/or ignored. It is easy to ignore people on steem block chain, you can even half assed censor them a little bit, but retaliation, accusations, and such are on the chain for all to see, and to dramatize to monetize. Your post is why I have not been a social internet site visitor/user very much before steem block chain.

I'm chatting to a couple on another Urbex site now and trying to be diplomatic about things. As long as there's no bigotry I'm OK with them.

The content on those sites is ever so serious and I'm not sure about me suggesting you jump out of doors fifty foot above ground may come across too well. We will see.

I know now that I will never be able to convince any of these dudes to post here. Making money is BAD after all.

Sharing Niche Experience on Niche sites is always going to leave the experience a Niche Experience. I'm of an age and health state that I can not really participate other than virtually, I would have never known anything about it if you did not post about it. It sounds like they just want to keep it a "Good Ole Boy's-n-Girl's type network, their own private secret society.

It sounds like they just want to keep it a "Good Ole Boy's-n-Girl's type network, their own private secret society.

It has been said as much. I understand the secrecy, places get burnt down if word gets around. The wrong people can get to know where they are.

I am not parley to any of the great ones as I'm not part of their community. That's OK, I'm happy with the wrecks I find.

Online communities and many offline ones can be strange things. People like having their own particular thing that they have some control over and they will use this to intimidate others. Sometimes it is just not worth putting up with that. We do these things for fun, not to get involved in petty politics.

It's not worth it and I made myself clear to the antagonist on that day, though not as colourfully as in this post.

Since then I have been chatting with the 'elite' on another Urbex site. We will see how it progresses. I don't think they would appreciate my humour much there.

Hope the other lot are friendlier. I guess urbex types may not be the most outgoing as they tend to sneak around alone or in small groups. Mind you, us geeks can be as bad.

I think what you are facing here is the anti-establishment vision of some members of the Urbex community. They will believe it is all about sticking up two fingers to the corporate world. It has parallels with the Open Source community where some people see profit as evil.

I'm going to relinquish my earnings in IT just for the sake of respect and non-profit. Now I need a food bank to beg from, know any?

Some of these comments seem to mirror the attitude on 28! It’s a strange world we live in
When two tribes go to war

I do get heated up sometimes. Those guys will never have seen any of my work, and I can't be arsed posting it in two different places.

All this to stop me dying alone in a broken old mill. I will lurk around in the background like before, I like the reports, but hate the criticisms.
