Little Ringed Plover at the River Shore

In Spring I enjoy watching birds at t he River Shore of the Danube or the Inn River and when the water levels of the danube after the Power Plant near Linz are low I really love to visit this spot for some bird photography since the little ringed plovers are looking for small insects there at the sandbanks and gravel pits. This is a nice spot to get some closeup pictures of this bird. You just need to be patient and wait for several minutes or hours for the birds to get to know you and know that you are not dangerous for them.

I use an insulation mat for the floor and wait there for some hours to get some nice pictures of these birds in the evening or at sunrise in the morning. These birds are one of the more easy birds to photograph since they often run a bit then stop then run again. During their stops it is easier to get some nice shots of them.

These are amazing photographs. I know how hard it is to take photographs of them, so you spending hours waiting for them makes sense, even though you say that they are easy to photograph because they stand still. The ones at our beach is so shy, I can never get close enough for quality photographs. Thanks for sharing, and keep well! *Edit: I see you are using a 600mm lens, this makes sense! I need to get myself one, as I am only using a 300mm.

Yes with 600mm it is a lot easier, "easy" is probably the wrong thing to say it, maybe I should have said easier compared to some other birds. But you need to be patient and wait for a long time lying on the ground and not move too much.

For sure, when I spent some time on the beach, even with only the 300mm zoom lens, I caught some nice photographs. You begin to see their pattern, and as you say, they are "easier" because (in my case) they returned to the same spot, and stay in that spot, for quite a while.

What cute creatures :) Yes, these yellow circles perfectly accentuate the eyes. Great photos!

Thank you! I am always jealous in your nice Landscape Pictures. 😀

I can say the same about your bird photos :)

Awesome pictures, dear friend! It's very professional. I don't have these birds in town until late July, walking along the coast.

Thank you. Yes they are spring birds here. I need the right weather and a Low Walter level of the danube Form Them to be around. Hopefully next spring also.

This bird is very beautiful, its eye circles add to its charm.
