An expectant crowd.

The doves were crowding the squirrel here.

The doves wanted the peanuts and they grew their numbers into a crowd.

An amazing occasion that I am showing you here as those doves can swallow a whole peanut still in its shell. They wanted the nuts, but the squirrel was in the way. So they thought that they could scare the squirrel away with their numbers.
Come and see how this assault ended.

They were milling around and some jumped onto the oak logs.

The squirrel was watching the doves as he ate.

See how he turns to make them aware that he was watching them.

Things became a bit worrisome as the leader of the doves approached the squirrel and he let out a call.

The reinforcements arrived and the doves were no match for three squirrels on the warpath, so the doves made a getaway.

Animals can communicate with each other and whenever there is danger they all have alarm calls. I have heard the squirrels many times up in a tree sounding the alarm call when there is a cat or a predator around.
The crows for instance can also sound an alarm call to summon other crows to a battle when a big raptor bird is close.
It's amazing how they can all gather and help each other.
Nowadays a person can get robbed in the street and nobody will come to their rescue. If only...

Those squirrels can be pretty tough when they need to be! That growl they make can sound fierce.. I didn't know that a dove could swallow a whole peanut!

Yes, that growl sounds fearsome, but they have a diiferent sound to the alarm call.
The doves are called ringnecks and they are bigger than the tutle doves, but yes, I was also surprised to see them swallowing the big peanuts.

What a great lesson from nature :) Well done capturing it, thanks so much :)

Thank you kindly and glad that you enjoyed the post.

Thank you, I hope one day to return the favor :)

A good gesture my friend, but you don't owe me anything. Just continue with your work here and get yourself higher up as that will be enough rewards for me.

Have another !BEER

I have every intention of doing that too, thanks so much for supporting me :) Hive truly has become a home :)

No problem and you just keep on going.
When you reach 4 years on here we will talk about this again.

Sounds like a plan :) It's easy to see so many people are committed. I came from a centralized platform where the owner shut it down :( At least I know Hive will be here in four years!

Hey @wrestlingdesires, here is a little bit of BEER from @papilloncharity for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

That is fascinating! A dove can swallow a whole peanut, shell, and all? I ask you, where is the enjoyment in that? :))

I think we can learn a lot from animals if we could only speak their language. Seems like they have found their ways around each other, keeping harmony for the most part since they began walking this earth.

Great pictures and they almost tell the whole story!

Apologies for the late reply milady, I am bit under the weather lately.

The dove only swallows the peanut whole to prevent the other doves crowding around from grabbing it. They all do that.

I totally agree that there can be harmony amongst all in this world, but in our pride that's the one lesson from mother nature that we simply refuse to learn. Each of us think that we are better than others, as that is what the world teaches.

That is too bad in my opinion and such a simple lesson! Apologies are not needed. Look how late I am!

Thank you Lady Denise and yes it is a very dad story.
Yesterday they had us running around to find a family trauma councelor, as a mother was stabbed by her boyfriend in front of her three little children, Thankfully the lady was treated at a hospital and the boyfriend has disappeared, but they are all severly traumatized.
The professionals here ask R1000 per hour, that we simply cannot afford, but we were led to a great Christian couple at the Rape Crisis Center, that partners with Papillon and they are taking care of the family for free. Amazing Grace.
Such is life here.

Cheers and !BEER
