π¦ The brown shrike (Lanius cristatus)
π Lanius (lat.) butcher; killer (name - for impaling prey on thorns like cut up carcasses from butchers)
π cristatus lat.: crista - crest,cristatus - crested
What a pity that I have not met these amazing birds for a long time. Most likely they either died or chose other places. Or rather, just one bird. This friend lived in one place in the forest and I saw him every year. The photo above is just that place.
As you can see, this is something like a meadow, a small field.
This little predator sat on low bushes and looked out for prey.
He feeds on small rodents, lizards, and insects.
And as you can guess from his scientific Latin name, he impales the corpses of his victims on sharp branches, thorns or hooks on fences.

Another of his features is the wagging of his tail when he is nervous. Like a cat.
Some really great images.
Would you mind telling me which camera and lens you are using?
Thanks!
I using nikon d5200 and tamron 150-600mm lens
Great combination for wildlife
