Crows and Ducks

in Feathered Friends16 days ago (edited)

Recently I bought myself a zoom lens for my camera. This allows me to get some shots of birds and other animals that tend to keep far away. I took my camera out and got some pictures of what I saw for the day. Mostly crows but I also spotted some ducks on the pond. The crows made for better photo subjects, being bigger and closer. But the ducks were still cool seeing, and will do my best to get some better pictures of them.

This crow was just hanging out on the ponds edge drinking water or maybe just finished taking a bath.

P1009724.jpg

One flew by and I got a picture of it as it was flapping its wings.

P1009618.jpg

The crow on the edge of the pond took off and headed over to a feed pile.

P1009620.jpg

I got a few shots before it got far away.

P1009624.jpg

It is cool to see them up close like this.

P1009619.jpg

Got these pictures maybe 50 feet away, most are pretty far out.. at least 100 feet.

P1009622.jpg

Looks like this one has some white feathers in with its black plumage.

P1009580.jpg

Many crows came down to feed on a pile of seed I put out. I need to put some closer next time.

P1009699.jpg

Some ducks were hanging out on the pond as well.

P1009735.jpg

Guessing they are a mating pair.

P1009707.jpg

It was really hard to get good pictures of them, they would not get much closer and being so small it was hard to get a good shot of them.

P1009736.jpg

Next time they get close I will bring out my tripod and see if they come out better.

P1009659.jpg

At some point they took a nap out on the water, tucking their heads into their plumage.

P1009696.jpg

Later on they got a little closer but still pretty far out even for my zoom lens.

P1009719.jpg

It was cool to see the crows and ducks. I will get some more pictures of the wild life around me now that I have a zoom lens for my camera.

I don't even need to go to the window or out into nature. The crow is always at eye level on my desk. It has been with me since childhood, when it was given to me as a present in kindergarten. The reason for this can be found in my first name, which is Wolfram. Tungsten (Wolfram) is not only the precious metal, but also means wolf and raven (crow) in mythology. Necessary in nature, as the two always ensure cleanliness and order. And my “Hive-Name”: W and atomic number 74.

Oh cool, that is a cute little bird you got there.

Interesting origin story.

It is my firm belief that my entire life could constitute an intriguing narrative. At the very least, the experiences and events that have shaped my daily existence could span numerous pages in a comprehensive account. Given the inherent uniqueness of life, this should be the baseline expectation of what can be achieved in this regard.😊

So nice to get close to nature and see the birds up close and personal. I live very close to a nature reserve and there is also a large pond nearby. I watch with fascination sometimes what goes on in the local natural habitat and it can be quite an eye opening experience. It might sounds silly but I get to see so closely and now have a greater appreciation of the dynamics of how birds actually manage to fly.

We get all sorts of birds near me with plenty of crows. I also see a lot of geese and swans. But the best part for me is that sometimes in the evening or night on rare occasions I have been fortunate enough to see a bat flying close by to my building. They fly like maniacs, they're crazy things. But because you don't see them that often it's always a kind of magical experience when you catch a glimpse of one.

Oh that is so nice you live near a nature reserve and a pond. Indeed it is fun to just observe the wild life that hangs out there.

I have also got to see bats flying around. Indeed they fly quite chaotically. You can stand right below them and throw food up in the air and they will catch them sometimes.. Its pretty amazing.. like feeding seagulls lol!

Oh man you're experience of bats is way better than mine! Lol! There's just no way I would have time to throw food for them to catch because they fly by very quickly and as it's night time it's difficult to see where they go.

Yes, the nature reserve and pond is small but it makes such a difference I can tell you. Moving to where I live now was the first step away from the city. But I'm still nowhere near close enough to a truly rural setting, which I think is the goal now. Just so long as I'm not too far from a train station I will be happy to find a remote rural village with local shops and a pub and tuck myself away there.

It was pretty cool.. You can hear them catch it if you listen closely.

Ah very nice, sounds like you have a nice taste of the country life where you are.. I feel ya, there are no train stations around where I live so everything is about an hour away.

How great that you have acquired a zoom lens for your camera, and that you can photograph birds.
Taking photographs of birds requires being patient until you achieve a good focus and shoot.
Beautiful photographs dear friend @solominer
Thank you very much for posting in our community
Have a beautiful weekend

I am really glad to have one now, hopefully I can capture many more soon.

Thanks, hope you do too...

The zoom lens for your camera is authentic as it shots those beautiful photos of Crows and ducks very well while you were at a far place.

l am excited to see it, also more stunning photos you are going to share in the future. Greetings.

Ah thanks, looking forward to getting out there and collecting more pictures with my new lens.

You are welcome, that's great, cheers.

You pulled some awesome shots! Got a bit of a photographer in you!

Hah thanks.. maybe I do.

Nice shots! I really dig the fourth one!

Yeah the crow taking flight is pretty cool.

I think your place has lots of crows and they can roam around even in day time.😊

Hah yep we got lots of them.

Good thing, there's no crops. 😄

I mean the camera result is kind of cool.

Thanks.. I am impressed as well.

Nice shots - but you should bring a tripod - greatly improves image quality!! Uploading DSC02912.JPG #97 I took that picture from about 500meters (about 1/3 mile) with my Sony....

Yeah I agree.. will use a tripod next time.

hmm your picture did not load.

thats weird - lets try this again.....

Nice shots, but imagine 400-500mm..

Ah yeah that will be nice, maybe I get one of those eventually.

thanks

Good shots of the bird @solominer, you present good nature in the place bro, I think in cuba 🇨🇺 is like the bird you show first as "Toty". Thanks for sharing crack. Regards 🫡

Buenas tomas fotografías del ave @solominer, presentas buena naturaleza en el lugar bro, creo que en cuba 🇨🇺 se como al ave que muestras de primero como “Toty”. Gracias por compartir crack. Saludos

Ah glad to share my captures.. oh cool. did not know that.

You were talented in gardening and housework. I also learned that you were a good photographer.

The pictures are very beautiful. The lens has really served well

Yeah it is quite nice.

glad to share my pictures here :-)

I love nature, especially birds. It's great that you have a good device to photograph them
beautiful photographs @solominer

Sure is.. loving the lens.

thank you

Good evening my brother
You managed to photograph the birds very well with your new lens, that's really amazing.
After seeing this, I want to have a camera even more and I will continue to save so that my wish can come true 🤗
That's awesome, have a nice day

Ah yeah its nice to have now. I was doing much macro and close up pictures before but now I can really reach out.

And very profitable 🤗♥️

I really like seeing photos of ducks swimming, yes, it's really very unique and funny.

Hehe yeah.. they were having a good time there.

Wow... I'm glad you bought a new zoom lens that can pick up objects from a distance, and the day you managed to shoot some ordinary strong objects, I really like crows, but unfortunately in my area it's very rarely seen.

Me too, its been a lot of fun using it.

Oh thats a shame, we like our crows here.

A powerful camera to capture the beauty of Nature. The crows and ducks are really having a great time.

Ah yeah it sure does help capture some great shots.... hehe they are.

Even from afar you still got a perfect view, the lens is worth the buy

Yeah I think so too.. it is quite the view.

😊😊

All the pictures are great, you truly captured them in their elements, well done😃

Thanks very much

It's very beautiful to be able to capture objects so close up, a very good buy I must say.

Ah thank you.. I think so too.

Have you ever eaten duck or duck eggs? Duck eggs are actually more nutritious than chicken eggs. =)

Yeah I have had duck eggs, quite tasty.

Hehe. In some Asian countries, they have what is called BALUT. It’s a type of duck egg that contains a partially developed embryo inside. They boil it until fully cooked and typically eat it with a dipping sauce made of vinegar, chili, garlic, and onions. =)

Oh man that may be too much for me.. I like unfertilized duck eggs..lol

hahaha... You can try if you have Filipino friends there. LOL

All your shots are beautiful, @solominer. I liked the way you shot perfectly those feathered friends.😊

Thanks very much.. they did make for some good photo subjects.
