A quick update from my office desk, and a little extra introduction about my health and disability issues. Also, more about my wife, @frittni.

On disability.
map). The carpark behind us is the main carpark just off Wilsher Crescent, and there are two ♿ disability parking spaces available there. The park itself is all flat, and has well maintained, smooth walkways throughout. It is actually part of the W1 West Auckland Cycleway route, so there are often cyclists riding through the park. This is just a quick post to show everyone here around my office. Nice place, huh? Great views! 😁 I'm @frittro, the bloke on the ground, in the blue t-shirt and fluro-topped work socks. My wife @frittni is sitting on her walker beside me. In this photo, we are at Henderson Park, in West Auckland, New Zealand (see
As you can probably tell from the photo, both my wife and I have physical disabilities. My wife was born with Spina Bifida, and I have various ailments which I've mentioned in another post recently. My heart issues are why I, too, have my own mobility aide. I can't walk far without getting tired and needing to sit down. Between the two of us, we have quite the collection of mobility aides, including the walkers, crutches, and a wheelchair.

On mental health.
Today we came down to the park here to meet up with a few friends from Te Ata, which is a mental health peer-support group that I belong to. This is the first time that we had met together in-person this year, and for quite some time before that, due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. It was good to catch up with them again, but sad to hear that one of the staff is planning to leave, this year.
In 2010, I was diagnosed with a major depressive disorder, and it was during this period that I came to be diagnosed also as being on the
Autism Spectrum. In fact, that was also the same year that I was diagnosed with type 2
diabetes! It all hit me at once. No wonder I'm so screwed up, haha!
Te Ata has been really helpful to me though, giving me something that I can look forward to during the week. It is a pity that the pandemic has spoiled that a bit, recently. Hopefully we can keep this new Omicron strain out of New Zealand, so that activities like Te Ata can resume again.
Anyway, this was just a brief update. I'm still working on my homelab project, and I will be blogging again about that soon.

EDIT: We went back to the "office" again a couple of days later, and spent some time there again with the Te Ata crew, this time playing a bit of cricket, or at least cricket-like sport, haha. Here are some extra photos, from our second day there this week...
Here we are again, at the "office", sitting under the same tree again, but facing a different direction.
I have no idea what I'm doing here, but it looks good. Am I even holding the bat correctly?
This is the view from my "office desk" this time. It was another beautiful sunny day.
The peace and tranquillity of the day was broken by the groundskeepers. But it looked like they were performing some elaborate dance, which was quite amusing.
After a hard day at the office, we went out for dinner at Nando's peri-peri restaurant in Lincoln Road, Henderson. I had the espetada, and @frittni had the paella.

Wow, been a heck of a ride so far for ya!
Yes, it all happened at once, really. I must've been building up to it during my working years though. One of the jobs that I did was apparently second-only to that of air traffic controller, in terms of job-related stress. It was also the best job I ever had, which fully tapped into my (then un-diagnosed) special talent from being on the Autism Spectrum. It isn't every day that we get to do a job that fits us like a glove.
@frittro
That's a sweet office! I can't help but think of the movie "Caddy Shack" with that gopher dancing around! It's been a pleasure to meet you at @theterminal, but I thought I would say hello here, on the Blockchain! I send you and your wife nothing but love and positive energy...
We could go on for hours I'm sure, talking about health issues. Not a competition, that's for sure. I was contaminated at a prior employer, with a chemical called Trichloroethylene, or TCE. Pretty nasty deal; Class Action Lawsuit, Super Fund Site, the works. But the lawyers won't represent me (or my other half, that worked there too) so we just keep on keeping on! Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2016. Filed for Disability in 2015. Trigeminal Autonomic Headaches, inflammation of the liver, prostate, and liver...
Life will test us, but I have my family, both at home and here, on the Blockchain. Faith... prayers... anyway.
It's good to focus on the things that make us smile. Laughter is, after all, the best medicine. And I'd rather be remembered by how many tacos I could eat, than the smell of my gas afterwards lol...
Love and light, to you and your wife, my friend!

Thanks so much for that Wes. Yours is one of those comments that I couldn't really do justice to when I was still on the mobile, so now that I'm home again, I'll give it a shot.
I know, right?! I bring some pillows with me to sit on, and I can have a siesta whenever I feel like it. Being retired and disabled isn't all bad, I guess. 😜
Thank you, we both really appreciate that, and send the same back to you and yours.
I'm pretty sure that I have heard of that, or seen a movie about it, something like the Erin Brockovich story or similar. Oh, that's right, it was called A Civil Action, starring John Travolta and Robert Duval. Sounds like some really nasty stuff.
Words to live by! Some sage wisdom right there. Maybe sage is a little too mild, perhaps peppermint or lavender would work better. Anyway, lovely to meet you here on the social blockchain. I'd be surprised if we hadn't crossed paths when I was last around this way, but I'm old and forgetful, and can't remember everyone, unfortunately. Nice that we met this time around though.

This is something that I still have to learn about since returning to the social blockchain. I don't recall there being this many cool reply bots back then. And I see that some of them can be used to gift NFT's and stuff with. More for me to catch up on.

I like your office! 😁 Does your wife not have an account on Hive yet? Or is is not spelled correctly? Whenever I click on @frittni in any of your posts, I get an error. 😕
That is the correct spelling, I just haven't made it for her yet. I plan to set up an account for her later, with a delegation of my own for her, once I am more established here on HIVE. It isn't a high priority, as she is unlikely to use it much, it will just be a placeholder. My wife is a self-confessed technophobe. When we met, she had an old 486 computer that a relative had given her a few years before, and it was still in its box, untouched! These days she is competent with Facebook, but technology is still really not her thing.
