I have decided to change The Natural World community to focus on Food Preservation and Fermentation! This new direction reflects the incredible possibilities of using nature’s gifts to create nourishing, flavourful, and sustainable foods.
Anyone with an interest in preserving the bounty of the natural world or exploring the art of fermentation is welcome to post, share, and join us here. Whether you’re a seasoned fermenter or just curious to learn, this is a space for collaboration, creativity, and connection.
What to Expect
As we grow, the community will feature:
Recipe Sharing: Post your favourite recipes or experiments in preservation and fermentation.
Tips and Techniques: Learn about tools, methods, and best practices for fermenting and preserving foods and drinks.
Seasonal Inspiration: Highlight ways to use seasonal and foraged ingredients in your creations.
This change is an invitation to celebrate food, tradition, and sustainability together.
Let’s inspire each other and embrace the art of preservation and fermentation!
Feel free to introduce yourself, share your experiences, or ask questions. Everyone is welcome here!
Have a lovely day,
Mariah 🍃😊
Yaaayy... This is one of many wonderful arts in the world that I want to learn more about. I'm a fan of preservation and fermentation foods. I was always curious to know how it was made and sometimes I tried to follow the steps, many times I failed.
Thanks Mariah for starting this, count me in. I might have nothing to post, but I can read and love to connect with other enthusiastic practitioners😍.
That’s wonderful @cicisaja. Indeed, it’s an art. The more we practice, the more we learn how. Sometimes, learning through others' experiences is just as valuable. Plus, it’s all about the journey and experimentation – every try, whether successful or not, adds to your knowledge. Hopefully, we can attract a few people to Hive as well, helping the community grow in this area. Thanks for joining! 😊
My pleasure 😉🤗 I have so much on my plate, but I know what's the most interesting thing to appreciate. I wish I could show you my sundried bilimbi candy which I made a couple years ago. I don't want to recycle the post, so I will make another one when my bilimbi tree bears its fruits after the rainy season over 🤗 tbh, I have more hilarious experimental experience to share than a success one.
If you're an old hivians, you'll know these words "if you can't create a good post then try to create an entertaining one 😉"
That sounds interesting! And your experiment is intriguing, haha. I made jam out of bilimbi, and it was very nice; I miss it, actually. In the Philippines, we have a tree full of fruits overlooking the kitchen window! I use it for any dish that needs a tart flavour. I would love to see your bilimbi creation when you have the time. I’m not an old hivian, but I get what you mean. 😄
Thank you. 😊🩷
I love the concept of this new community!!
Yes thank you, we can learn from each other.
