Reflections Of What Could Have Been
Unfinished work, young man's life taken for a belief, have we moved forward since this historical speech was made?
Today celebrates his birth date (written yesterday then no electricity syndrome attacked our town), MLK day in the USA tomorrow, reflections 60 years back to 1963 when I was a young girl. Now why would my thoughts go here, answer is simple my friend, we blowing in the wind, we always turned to music for most information.
This famous speech spoke about everyone being equal, slavery had been abolished 100 years ago, yet the people still not mingling freely. A dream of all children being able to enjoy each others company, remembering no child is born able to differentiate, have we accomplished this now 60 years later.
Where I live this dream is not anywhere close to being reached, as children living segregated by colour, creed, religion, language, a country with a deep desire aimed to see this demolished. it was almost tangible for a couple of years, now being reversed once again, without written law in place. Silent forces stir hatred up continuously for what reason no one knows.
Nelson Mandela's Rainbow Nation dream died with him when greedy hands waited in the wings to take control, currently a country where very few, could or would be proud of.
Haunting question, when will people stop being referred to as black, white or coloured, European, Indian, Bantu, Asian, why all legal forms inquire to know what you are other than a human?
It never stops there either, it goes down branches into religion, culture, tribe, language wherever you wander. Humans wanting modern technology, when we cannot look after the land we are given nor keep the lights on!
Where I learned about "I have a dream" like many other human on earth with all their faults, music that was how we found out about civil rights movements, wars, disgruntled people.
I leave you, wishing you on this day to enjoy reflections of the mind over decades of time... (It's fascinating and called history/memory...)

Quite a common thing in our world today, there's a certain way of interacting with people based on color, the same question I seek an answer to, why don't we see the human in us all connected with the same color of blood? Another century will pass without an answer I bet you.
last time I was in KZN for work at Kingsway hospital because I couldn't speak Zulu, the guy disliked my presence immediately and it was a matter of me avoiding him till the two weeks project was completed, not an easy one for me as he was the assistance host of the hospital. One of those terrible experiences I had.

We experienced first hand similar when traveling years ago, somehow you manage to stay silent knowing it is not right.
People are being fractured into bite-size pieces for greater control, smart cities is but one that comes to mind. Opening/closing borders at a whim, deciding how to herd you.
If people lived together with their kind, worked together each paid fairly on what they bring to the table, pride and dignity follow naturally. Achieving happiness in so doing, no one would wish to move around loving where they live as equals.

It was primitive and uncivilized of him, some need exposure to broaden their way of reasoning and socializing with others in society unfortunately some are lacking in that regard.
I woke up at 3am to get my Hive stuff going as load shedding for today as seen above is terrible. I have less than an hour of work to do now before it goes for another 4 hours. What a nightmare!
Some really nasty people out there with a chip on their shoulders, this is exactly why we in the terrible situation we currently face, no one listens.
Power outages are getting everyone down, we went off yesterday afternoon, knowing I should have time to post...., then they switched on and tripped the region once again, waited a couple of hours for that repair. Today water pipes burst again when switching back on huge area without water waiting for that to be fixed... Life goes on!

Lol, the chill pill is helping me I guess.
We are having a basically similar issue, the landlord came to install a borehole and since it's installed when there's load shedding the water doesn't pump 😃
I ended up buying water and refilling it so I don't get sick.
Crazy days!
Completely crazy domino effect, guess we won't see them do anything in a hurry considering all politicians have backup services, they have to have electricity 24/7 "their job"....
Stay safe, people are becoming agitated, many starting to voice their feelings on the streets now.

You hit the nail on the head there @joanstewart very philosophical. This world is not run by 'elected" governments, there are but a handful of individuals who control the population. Alas too few question the status quo and accept everything they read and see in the "free" press. Divide and rule!
Before 1994 the modus operandi was a "communist under every bush", all media run by government. Now experiencing a 360 degree turn around leaves one questioning more, why musicians were our only way of knowing what was happening outside our borders.
Internet has helped with communication in many ways except one has to deep dive shifting fact from fiction. Alas very few musicians singing the same tune as they did with Bob Dylan, Sam Cooke, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Country Joe and the Fish, Ray Charles, Joan Baez, Leon Russell, plus many more I can think of over a couple of decades.

I read what you write, Mrs. @joanstewart my soul wrinkles because in your country, as in the world, children and young people are left without identity in their space of family and social everyday life, precisely because there is no education for citizenship where in practice all human beings are the same.
This is different from ideologizing education.
This is a statement that is corroborated by observing the official system of social education, which, being unable to train citizens for the “xxi century”, destroyed in "mansalva" all the rational sense of Social Education for life...for example, what is happening in my country is the new social aesthetics of segregation.

We live but once, passing through we need to respect all for who they are.
I still dream of seeing people able to unite for the good of all, at the moment it feels polar opposite is occurring.

Reading your post I was thinking of the biblical Tower of Babel when people scattered over the face of the earth, speaking different languages. There have been many wonderful people trying to bring us back together again.
Right or wrong humans have never been at harmony with each other.
We are scattered and in tatters everywhere, with no indication as to where it leads, will carry on with a dream and hold onto it tightly.
