NEXT GOAL ON MY BUCKET LIST!

Edited on Canva

For over a decade of crocheting, and accepting orders from customers as well, I find it boring and felt used up with all the customization I received. I mean it's all about what my customers wants. From the design, and the color/s to be used. Sometimes I recommend what color/s is best or alter some designs on some parts and got some approval but sometimes not.

Making my own designs is what my next thing on emptying my BUCKETLIST. (Although there's a lot more if you really dig in.) I mean having to design a crochet wearables that is purely out from your creative mind (and not inspired from the things you have witnessed on the net) is something every crafter wanted. Those ideas that I had collected over the years that I wanted to use and pour out my creativity on a particular thing. And finally choosing the colors that I really love working on as it excites me changing from 1 color to another.

Well I already did it before, designing a wearables and choosing my preferred colors, but what makes it different now is that I wanted to make a PATTERN out of it. It's the ultimate dream I have since then. I think @romeskie had already idea about it since I had shared it with her long time ago. (Sorry for tagging you, sis.😅)

But, WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF DELAY?

First, I don't how to write a pattern, seriously. When I started to learn crochet, with the help of my sister knowing only the basics, I started to collect pictures of crocheted items on my phone. And stare at the image, trying to figure out how to do it by trial and error. And whenever there's a difficult stitch on that particular item, I just look for it on tutorials. But I never had the chance of making something with depending on the whole pattern. And obviously, I never had tried buying a single pattern of any crochet related items for myself.

I mean why buy if you could only figure it out? Not that you can figure it out immediately without errors and delay, but the advantage is that you will realize more in making errors. Yes! The more errors you make, the more realization you will get. (Ahm, hoping you understand me on this part. 😅✌️) Plus, you don't have to spend a penny for that pattern. ✌️🤣

Second reason, I always get orders from customers. Well, it was not a bad thing because that means that my business is good. And it really helped a lot since I'm getting payments and help our day-to-day expenses.

Third reason is that I always
swayed away with the trending crochet items that I had seen on the social media. Like those flowers on valentine's day, the trending designs on summer days, making earrings and all.

But I guess, they we're just an alibi's.

And I must admit. That when it comes to planning, I was doing it very well. But mostly failed because I don't take any actions and just think of the alibi's.

The FEAR TO FAIL is what I always think when I'm about to do what I had planned. The fear of rejections for taking the risk of leaving my comfort zone is what I'm worried. It's bigger than thinking the possibility of success. And it's eating up my confidence.

Last week, I tried making a new design for crochet top. And I was pleased and satisfied with the result. After posting it on my social media account, @romeskie commented asking if there's a pattern of that crochet top that she could buy. Of course, I was very happy. Happy that she liked it that much to ask for a pattern. Then I was thinking if making the pattern.

I again posted it on a crochet group on Facebook, asking if they saw that kind of design already with a pattern. And I was amazed with the feedbacks I get. They love my design and we're asking me to make a pattern of it. But only few had answered my question, and replied that so far they hadn't seen any design same with mine. And at that moment, I told myself to give it a try.

Yes, I'm still afraid of rejections, and criticisms. Afraid that someone will mock my way of writing my pattern since I'm a beginner. But I have to try. I really have to try this time. Because I really wanted to.

So again, I have to challenge myself for another round after that 50-piece flower bouquet being successfully done. But this one is not that easy. And I will be needing all your support, suggestions and recommendations on how to do it. It would be a great help for me.

By the way, here's how I made it. It only consists of some basic stitches and I guess everyone even the beginner can make it.

I was just too excited that I switched immediately working on the sleeve even if I'm not done on the body part. 😅

IMG20230301163710

So after I'm done on the sleeve, and satisfied on the result, I then continued on the lower part of the body.

IMG20230302163045_01

Then back to the other sleeve, and make some shell stitch on the collar part as edging.

Finally, made the strings/ties for the sleeve and front area.

You consistently amaze me with your skills and passion for crocheting sweet lady! ☺️

She is very pretty, just darling if you ask me. Your design is amazing and it’s easy to see why people love it. Kudos to you for moving forward with this goal/dream to make your own designs. I don’t doubt at all that you will sooner than later be able to write up your own patterns as well. I’m glad to see you already have suggestions that were shared with you in the comment section.

I love the different levels of color that is in this blouse. It all blends beautifully together. The strings are a really nice touch. I’m very excited for you ~ 💗

Thank you @crosheille and to this community for the constant support that I received.🥰 I deeply appreciate it that's why I always try to share the best of what I can.😊

This is to inspire also crochet artists especially beginners to keep striving for the best and to let them realize that they could also sell their handwork even if they're staying at home. Housewives like me should think that they can still make a profit without leaving their houses and this is also the best exercise in molding one's creativity.

Anyway, I am now delaying again the pattern-making (I am making a post about it now😅) for some reason. But every time I read this kind of comment stating that I can do it, I feel the urge to continue. You are all my inspiration. 🥰

I love this…

Housewives like me should think that they can still make a profit without leaving their houses and this is also the best exercise in molding one's creativity.

I love knowing I can use my creativity and the things I love to do to help make a living while staying home with my children. This is truly an inspiration for women like us. 😊

It was actually pretty, ate @jonalyn2020. Is this top po ba ay pang kids lang po or teens na rin? Tho I'm not good at crochet and never tried one pero I know na it's so cute. Don't be afraid of experimenting with things ate. Just make designs you want to see and what you visualize. !PIZZA

Actually pang teens or adult to Denn but pwede rin naman magawa for kids. Thanks at nagustuhan mo rin pala.hehe.mostly kasi nagcocomment lang nito mga babae, but happy to hear your feedback. Salamat sa pagpapalakas loob. 🥰

I think it's beautiful!

I've always used patterns. I learned to crochet on my own using patterns (at the time I didn't know anyone else who knew how to crochet). While I may have done some modifications, I've never ventured out to do something completely without a pattern.

I don't have as much time as I used to, so now I only crochet items as gifts. Plus, now that I'm getting older, it's not as easy for me. But I still enjoy it from time to time.

If you need help knowing how to write a pattern, purchase one so you can learn how they write out the pattern. It just has to be something with enough different stitches so you can learn from that.

Thank you @greensandpinks for sharing your story to me. I was just wondering if making a blouse pattern, would you write it in different sizes? Have you tried purchasing a pattern of crochet wearables? Did the seller let you choose what size of the final wearables does the pattern should be?

Yeah, I'm also thinking of buying a pattern for wearables myself so I could know how things should be done. Thank you so much for your comment and taking time to read my post. God bless you @greensandpinks 🥰

Yes, everything I purchased that needed different sizes (clothing, baby booties, etc.) would give the pattern for the smallest size, then in brackets [] the other sizes. Before starting, it would state the needed materials (including the suggested hook size), the sizes (like small, medium, large), the finished sizes (in inches or other measurement) and the gauges (like 13 sc = 2"; 7 sc rows = 3/4", etc.), and finally any additional notes for anything that may be a bit different than typical.

Then the pattern starts. An example of one of the rows could be: Rows 10-129 [10-137, 10-153, 10-161]: Working this row in back lps, ch 1, sc in each stitch across (75) [83, 91, 96].

What that means is there are four sizes. The first size is rows 10-129, the second size has more rows as you go through rows 10-137, the second has 153 rows, and the 4th size has 161 rows. At the end of those rows, you have the number of stiches at the end: 75, 83, 91, 96. In this case, no stitches were added, just rows.

Sometimes it's how many stiches you may add or start with. For example, Row 1: Ch 97 [101, 105], sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn (96 sc) [100 sc, 104 sc].

This one has three sizes, and the only difference is the number of stitches in the row.

Wow, so very detailed. 😯 Thank you so much for these info @greensandpinks. It will help me a lot in making a pattern.

Good thing I had it posted it here. So I could able to collect some tips in making a pattern like what you did. Very thank you from the bottom of my heart. 🥰

By the way, I made a screenshot of your comment so I could read it again anytime. 😊 God bless you.

I'm good at reading patterns, not creating them (since I am not creative enough to create something unique enough to create a pattern), so if you have any questions on how the pattern should read and look, let me know.

Oh wow, thank you so much. 😍 You'll be my advicer then. I'm so happy. 🥰

But I don't believe that you're not creative enough to create something unique. It's just that you didn't give it a try. And I guess everyone is capable of doing something. It's the mindset that we have to change. (And I'm telling this also to myself. 😅)

Great design! I agree when you say that the idea of combining your own colours and making your own design is just wonderful.

If you are really interested in design, I recommend you to take a course on pattern making. It helped me a lot. Embraces.

Thank you so much @inici-arte.🥰 Oh, I never thought of taking a course like that. I'll try to check it on the internet later. And thank you for the recommendation. God bless you dear. 🥰

Maganda talaga sya sis! At hinihintay ko ang pattern mo. Coz it's true what you say, why buy the pattern when you can figure it out on you own, I have my own motto. Kung kaya ng iba, edi ipagawa mo sa kanila. Tas bilhin ang pattern. Hahaha. Labyu sis!

Kaw talaga pasimuno sa paghahanap ng pattern nito sis eh. Ahahaha. Nstress tuloy ako. 'Till now dipa nagagawa. 😅 Hahaha, kaw talaga pipiliin ko magpattern test nito. Love you too. 🥰

I adore everything about this top, @jonalyn2020 - it is sooo the kind of thing I would love to wear!! I hope you sell lots of patterns - and I hear you about the fear of failure: I avoid beginning things for a loooong time, because I cannot see all the steps in front of me before I begin - but I do everything intuitively, anyways, so it is silly to make an excuse like that! I love reading about your overcoming your fear - it is beautifully inspiring! I will endeavour to keep striding into my clothing projects, like you 😍

Thank you so much for the time you spare to read my post @clareartista. And I'm glad you like the design too. 🥰
Yes, every beginning seems so very hard that we thought we can't make it. It's like coming out from your comfort zone where you might fail or success. My mind right now is having the thought of 70% failure and only 30% chances of being successful on my 1st move. I already started but then paused for 3 days now. 😅

I am so glad also knowing that I did inspire one soul. 🥰 God bless you dear.

I love your project, I am in love and I would like to make it for myself. I think my wish list is getting bigger and bigger every day.

Gracias Carolina. 🥰 I think you're not alone. When we crafters, saw a beautiful and new ideas that we could replicate for ourselves, we then started to plan to make our version with a little touch of our own style. We begin to imagine how we're able to make it better, or change some parts that we think would give more beauty. The creativity naturally flows within us just like the air we breath, eh? 😊

Hala ang gandaaa po! It's not just pretty but the way I see on the picture how you crochet and combine some parts are so neat!

Salamat @carisdaneym.🥰 Practice is the key lang talaga. 😅 Yung about sa selling, kahit dika pa ready kung nakikita nilang maganda yung output, for sure may magpapagawa na yan. Basta be passionate lang sa pinili mong hobby. Ma susurprise ka nalang sa mga magagawa mo. 🥰

Greetings @jonalyn2020, very beautiful and delicate work, the color combination is perfect, thank you for sharing.

Blessings!

Hello I'm glad that you like it too @belkyscabrera. Thank you also for your comment and visiting my blog post. 🥰

I learned to knit by watching videos and I have never published my knitting here in the community for fear of not knowing how to explain the process, I just watch it and try to copy and modify what I can to make it fit the size I need or I just look for a little ideas and finish my way, I think it's not bad just that they think we're selfish by not sharing the pattern but I understand it because the same thing happens to me, I don't know how to explain a pattern ☺️😊

Let me congratulate you because everything was too beautiful, both the design and the colors, I think I had never seen such a beautiful crochet blouse model, thanks for sharing, regards 🖖

True, I sometimes wish to post only pictures showing how I did it, because I really had a hard time explaining it.😅 But then, through this community, I learned to express my works through words slowly. But honestly, up until now, my sentences were short and I think sometimes didn't hit the right words in explaining. 🤣 Yet through time, and constant posting, I know it will improve in the future, hopefully. 😅

Anyway, thank you so much @marlynmont for taking the time to read my post and sharing your experience too. It's nice to know that I'm not alone. 😅 But I think we can do it by making the first step. One step at a time, will definitely improve us along the time. God bless you. 🥰

Beautiful! I love this style and also the colors. 🥰

Thank you so much Katty. 🥰

Absolutely beautiful Jonalyn! I love this design and color. I'm sure you'll do your job well writing and sharing the pattern. If it worked for you it will work for someone else.

It is true that fear does not let us leave our comfort zone. In fact, it is also the fear of rejection that prevents me from doing my business. I don't want anyone to judge my seams if they are imperfect hahaha. But I think it will only be a matter of cheering up :)

Thank you so much Laura for taking the time to read my post and for believing that I can write the pattern. I'm also hoping that sooner I will make it happen.

Girl, I saw your works here, your lace bra's are awesome. And I thought that you're just busy of something else so you're not considering making it a business. I didn't know that, it was fear that prevents you from doing it. But hey, you should give it a try. As I've said, they were all wonderful. Start posting it in your social media accounts, and ask feedbacks from your friends and some colleagues that if you will try to sell those pretty laced bra paired with those panties you made, will they be able to purchase it? You have to try it Laura. Just take the first step. 🥰

Wow ganda sis. Napaka talented mo talaga.

Thanks sis. Nakatutok lang masyado sa crochet kaya nakapagpraktis. 😅
