Sounds like the tame/not-so-tame llamas here in northeast Kansas. Llamas are sometimes used as guard animals for sheep farms. While we do have the occasional bobcat or mountain lion here, we do have plenty of obnoxious coyotes that run in packs and eat whatever they can. I think I will rely on donkeys and dogs to help with the safety of my flock.

Thanks for the interesting and insightful comment @inici-arte! I am actually surprised at how nice the shawl is turning out (and am glad to use my first attempt at spinning alpaca yarn on something so special).
