RE: Hive Success for Gamers!

Can we hard-code your recipe for success into Hive's code? 🤣

Even if they are quite a lot, I agree with all your points... and I do not fully agree often with what people think/do/write.

Be more than a username or IGN, be a person, a friend

To some extent, this is imho the most valuable, and often underrated, suggestion: lots of people engage in a way that seems artificial, like they are just doing it to get some attention. You can "feel" from what they write that they didn't put down their opinion or their thoughts, but just what they supposed you would like to read. It's far better to engage a bit less but without being "fake": be you and find like-minded people. That's how you can build strong relationships and grow faster and stronger on Hive.

This should really be hard-coded into Hive: you can't be the judge of yourself. Let others choose if your effort are worth something and how much.

LOL. No, as this is my opinion and to me it makes sense. Others might disagree and call it restrictive :) As you said, they are a lot. But I have personally done all these and it helped me immensely.

I agree. Many here on chain met me in person, and I can assure you, I talk very similarly in real life. Nothing that I personally put out here is fake and it is 100% my feeling at that time.

I tried to implement this for a while @gtg might remember. Well he is the pilot who is driving this starship. Lobby to him and maybe someday you might be able to convince him.

I can assure you, I talk very similarly in real life.

You always go straight to the point, even if some may find that rude, so I have no doubts about that.

Lobby to him

Not much I can do there, but at least I support him as a witness since I came here on Hive: he can't remember me, but when I was a newbie I asked a question on hive.blog chat and he kindly answered me. I then checked who that user was and I found that he was a long-time Hiver with a huge stake... and I was like "if a veteran with such stake finds the time to answer a question asked by someone with 10 HP - and surely by other thousands of users before him - well, he clearly cares a lot about this chain, so the least I can do is to give him my vote".

And the same applies to you: you are putting effort and time in gathering data to prove your opinion and your vision on how to make Hive (and Splinterlands, also) a better and healthier place. You could have been ripping rewards and get the most out of this chain. Instead you've chosen to be an example and use your time and influence to help others understand how they can do better on Hive and how they can grow and improve while helping the chain thrive. I respect that. And that's why I'm happy to use half an hour to compose a comment (yeah, I'm a bit slow when I have to "think" and write in english 🤣) to show you that I really read and reflect on your post.

Again, much appreciated.

Maybe you can use one of the many translate tools? Then edit maybe, if they are not satisfactory.

What is your native language? By the way, I am not a native English speaker either.

I don't use a translator when I write comments because I use it as an exercise to improve my ability in writing in english: nowadays online translators do a very good job, but for that reason they don't push you to learn more... they do all the job and they do it quite well, so you don't feel the "urge" to improve. Hence why I prefer to be slow but make some practice :)

What is your native language

Italian! :)

I am not a native English speaker either

You write so well I thought you were a native English speaker 😅

I did the same :)

I am originally from Calcutta, India, but now I live in Houston, TX for many years

Going to Venice for spring break, do not ask me why?!

Going to Venice for spring break, do not ask me why?!

I guess the "Carnevale di Venezia" might be involved? 🤣

I've been to Venice 2 or 3 times and it's a beautiful city: I like it more than Rome... and I must admit that it might be even better than Florence! Even if Florence has obviously my heart ahahah but Venice has a unique charm that you can't find anywhere else (at least in Italy).

I am originally from Calcutta, India

I've never been to India, but it's one of those place where I wish to go one day, not lastly because Indian is one my two favourite exotic cuisine. I also love temples and history, and India has plenty of both :)

We, our family, absolutely adore Italy. I like to stay in each main city for a week! But I have to retire from work before I can do that!

My older daughter been to Florence last year, I haven't been. I want to go obviously but won't happen on this trip

I think it should be the other way around and it was that way before. Only because it wasn't optimal to vote right away it's not hardcoded to self-vote automatically. HP should matter, also for authors.
Of course regular process of evaluating content is in place, so if someone is shitposting daily, it will end up with zeroed rewards sooner or later.
Also think about it - if such shitposter will be forced to vote every time they post, then it will also kill their curation rewards (as no voting power will be left for those)

Thank you for your vote, I still do care, probably even more ;-) just overwhelmed with tasks to be done :-D

Never thought about that, and it's quite a different but interesting point of view: self-vote as a way to deter shitposters - at least those with a medium to large stake. This shows that for (almost) everything there's always another side of the medal that should be considered!

Even if I still see a possible issue in those cases where someone doesn't strictly shitpost but still publishes low effort - and very often low quality - posts that can't be classified as shitpost, but surely doesn't deserve many upvotes. And seeing the author throwing their vote in is something that, ihmo, is discouraging for new users, because they struggle to get some attention and at the same time see people - who didn't put any effort in what they did - self-voting themselves, while - maybe - getting way more upvotes than they deserved... like those weren't already more than enough to reward their small effort.

End of the rant 🤣

I know, and my vote is always there! :)
