A while back I did a post around a little trip and mentioned my caravan which I tow behind my Landcruiser (pictured above); I said I'd do a follow up post with a few images so here it is. It'll be short, just a few detail sand some images.
They say the kitchen is the hub of every home, even mobile homes, but I don't use the kitchen much, I do pretty much all of the cooking outside using the kitchen for making coffee and occasionally heating up something in the oven or microwave. It's well-appointed though with a cooktop, grill and oven, microwave, sink with hot and cold running water, 188 litre fridge/freezer and ample cupboard storage.
Below is the club lounge seating which easily seats five adults, not that I ever have more than two in it, and the table swivels around for ease of use and even drops down to create a bed once the table-infill cushion is placed on the table top should one need to sleep an extra person...(or I get banished from the main bed).
Speaking of main beds, here's a shot of the bedroom and the Queen-sized bed, 2,000mm long and 1,500mm wide. There's storage either side and the bed lifts up on gas struts to provide more storage as well; under the bed is the battery management unit and breakaway towing battery as well.
The skylight includes additional LED lighting and there's a block-out screen to block out the sun; in fact, all the windows have block-out screens, good to make the interior dark when needed and of course to maintain privacy if there's others around.
Here's a shot taken from the lounge area looking down through the kitchen and into the bedroom. The interior of the caravan itself is 22 feet long (6.7 metres) so there's ample room for two people. In between the kitchen and the lounge is the washroom area, with a door of course, and there's another door separating it and the bedroom. You can also see the head unit from of the roof-mounted reverse cycle air conditioner in this shot.
Water is fed from two 95 litre water tanks, or mains water if at a caravan park, to the entire caravan including the kitchen and shower/bathroom areas and the caravan has an instant (continuous) hot water system powered by gas or mains power depending on where one is.
In the collage below you can see the washroom area which includes a 4kg front loading washing machine (that I never use) and some more storage plus a toilet. The image also shows the battery management and radio head unit, hot water temperature controls and some other switches that turn things on or off as needed.
You can also see the water tank gauges, three of them, which includes the two fresh water tanks and grey water tank which collects water from the sink and shower rather than dump it out to the environment. When staying at a caravan park this would drain directly into a sullage tank in the ground but when off-grid it needs to be collected then dumped appropriately later.
The batteries are 300 amp-hour lithium units fed by two 210w solar panels and battery managed by a REDARC management system. It chooses the appropriate charging method based on the situation such as my vehicle (or solar) when moving, solar when stationary in the day time, or 240v (mains power) when plugged in at a caravan park. The batteries power the caravan (all electrical needs except the microwave and air conditioner) for about 6-8 days depending on available sunlight.
The reverse cycle air conditioner will only work on 240v (so when plugged in to mains power) although I run a Honda 2.2kVA genset when in remote areas which runs the air conditioner and all the power outlets, pumps, lights, stereo system and TV (if I was to turn it on...which I rarely do).
Outside there's a drop down picnic table, external speakers (three inside as well) which can operate separately, an external TV box, mains power inlet and outlet, and 12v outlets, an external shower, a roll out awning, 360° TV antenna called a Cowfish Vantenna (for some odd reason) and...well, you get the idea I think.
Finally some weights...
- TARE: 2732kg/2.73 tons (TARE is the weight without any load, just the caravan itself)
- ATM: 3412kg/3.41 tons (ATM is aggregate trailer mass - the maximum the trailer can weigh fully loaded)
- Payload: 680kg/0.68 tons (The maximum I can load into the van - the difference between the ATM and TARE weights)
- Ball weight: 219kg (The weight of the tow coupling on the tow ball of my vehicle at TARE weight)
That's about it really; I mean, I could talk some more about it but I don't want to get too boring for you, most of y'all have probably tuned out already.

👀😲
Right?
That's a mansion. 😅 I will put it on my wish list.
I got it for when you come over, you'll need somewhere to stay!
🥳🤗 hahaha... Cool.
Dang looks quite high-end!
It's what could be considered that way although there's better (more costly) ones on the market. I'm more into what does the job than having the latest and greatest though so it works for me. I'd rather one of these https://bruderx.com/ but don't have the $200,000+ to spend.
You are all set up for adventure! That should sustain you for nearly anywhere you want to go, in comfort and style. I like the fact that it has a washing machine, even though you never use it, it's there should you ever need to. Well appointed indeed!
It's a big industry here, so many people spend a lot of time caravanning, it's a massive country so there's always somewhere new to go. Many are selling up their houses and getting on the road and all things considered it's not a bad way to go from many perspectives. I'm not selling my houses any time soon but I'd consider it in the right circumstances.
At least you're prepared if that ever happens lol. I would have hauled ass if I had one as we are doing the hurricane thing here again lol. Fuckin' hurricanes...grrrr! You have any wild weather happenings in your country?
Yeah, I know y'all have been battered around somewhat.
Yeah, we have cyclones but not in my part of Australia (down south in Adelaide), they occur across the tropical north from Broome to Darwin over to Cairns, and Townsville although the effects can be felt lower than those places. Other than that, we have wildfires, drought, flooding and all. It's a very diverse country due to its size.
Nope. Tuned in till the end. Absolutely love the flooring in it.
Not a fan of the white interior. But that has always been my issue. Many like it.
Very good and interesting post in my opinion. Photos were really good. The non shite kind.
Non shite photos are preferable over shite ones but if they're shite there's a community for that...even if they're not really shite.
That's not camping, that's glamping. That's a very beautiful caravan. Thank you for sharing.
It's legit, no matter what else people call it.
This is such a perfect mobile home with all the present features in it, one will live comfortably in it.
All that is needed is for the caravan to be on a level ground. With that, you won't remember you are in a mobile home.
This can serve well for folks who do not have a farmhouse. They'd just hang in there especially when their farms are far away from town.
A perfect caravan as this comes with a huge finance considering the fitting sighted in the pictures
You're right, equipment like this can certainly provide some options for those who have to spend time away from their home which is exactly what they're designed to do. Also, level ground is generally required but I have levelling ramps on board which solves most issues as far as unlevel ground goes; maybe I'll do a post about them someday and show how they work.
It would a great work to do a post on the levelling ramps. I just viewed the image of the outside look of the caravan, it is just a great work and beautiful damsel.
Awesome set up, cool pics to go with too. I so badly want a Landcruiser, they are legendary and I need one in my life asap. Then I would need a trailer like that too. I'd would be out every weekend, haha.
It's a legit vehicle, no doubt. I hope you get one! (And a caravan).
Wow, is that a caravan or a mansion on wheels?
I love trips that involve these caravans, so it’s always good to stay informed.
And yes, I read the whole post
I loved the last photo, the Land Cruiser looks impeccable!
Thanks man, it's a pretty legit thing for sure, the Landcruiser too. I've worked hard for both so I take care of them.
My God! In the form of caravan youvare taking a spacious and beautiful home with you every where. Many people doesn't have that beautiful a house on land that you are keeping as mobile.
I wanna know one thing. Is it centrally air conditioned? Or there is some passage of air too?
!LOLZ. So you have someone who can do that to you 🙃

But he hesitated.

The air conditioning is roof mounted in (roughly) the centre of the caravan which ensures it's effectively heating or cooling the entire interior space.
That's a wonderful system then. I wish to visit it some day
I really love it! I love it so much! I like that image where from the corridor you can see everything along the way and the bathroom area is great. When you show it inside it looks like there is room for everything, it's great!!!!
Room for everything indeed, even me!
My eyes were like this 👀.... and I was like this 😲
Congratulations!
Awesome!!! 😃. And I didn't switch off reading, though almost 🤣.
A great buy, which I gave it
Yeah, I'm not sure anyone has made it to the end of my post, if you did you might just be the first. Hurrah!
🤣
Happy day Galen.
Holy moly! That's one flawless caravan if you ask me!!
Yeah, it's legit. It's certainly not roughing it when out in the wilderness huh? I've done many years of that and love doing it still, but a little more comfort isn't a bad thing.
Absolutely!
Looks surprisingly modern and very comfortable :)
It's both of those for sure and does exactly what I expected it would do which makes me feel I got value for money.
I always imagined that caravans are very tiny. But yours seems to have plenty of space. Very nice.
Yeah, it's not small, that's for sure.
It seems to be perfect for great adventures, for someone like me who has always lived in the city, hitting the road with all these features seems incredible!
!LUV !BBH !INDEED
I live in a city (city fringe) myself but I was born and raised in a rural area and love the outdoors, wide open spaces and unpopulated areas more than the city. I go away a lot, as much as I can, and much of that is in wilderness and far away places which is where this caravan comes into it's comfort zone. As you can see, it's got all the comforts but is mobile so I can take it pretty much anywhere in the country except for really rough tracks. This sort of thing isn't for everyone, but for those who love the outdoors it's perfect.
Of course, for those who enjoy a trip or something like that, it's really perfect. I'm more of a stay-at-home kind of person, I was brought up that way and got used to living like that. Now my wife loves doing something like that, living in the city, but whenever possible taking to the road, going to a farm, a lake, a park, the outdoors is a passion of hers.
I love staying home too, it's a comfortable and welcoming place, but it's a short life and a big world so I love making the most of both.
You're absolutely right, I need to get out of the house a bit more, live away from the computer and the problems of the big city.
Changing the subject, have you seen the new feature from peakd? The snaps?
I've seen that new feature, not something I'll ever use though. I don't like social media and don't see the point to posting many nonsensical, pointless comments in that way.
Hum... I understand, thank you very much for your honest reply. See you next time!

I’d love one of those. We have a Brit caravan and it’s great but there’s issues with water leak in the shower and fridge issues.
I want to get everything sorted to Freedom Camping standards then flick it off and get an Aussie spec caravan.
Yours looks so mint on the inside.
They do it pretty well here in Australia and I'd only even buy a fully Australian made caravan. I'm pretty happy with this one and am pretty fastidious with the care of it; I work so hard for what I have, the ability to get the things I need, so figure looking after those things to the best of my ability is the way to go.
I'm not familiar with the brand you mention but am sorry to hear it's had water ingress issues and hopefully you're able to get it sorted out.
By Brit caravan I mean a British one. It's a Lunar Jupiter and for all intents and purposes it's a mint caravan. There's just a weird little leak in the bathroom tap. I think I know where it is but it's causing the pump to constantly run and drain the tank.
Given that it's a 1997 and the only things I'm doing to it are fixing up minor issues it's not so bad. It's watertight and no body damage so it's not as bad as it sounds.
I did just fix up the stereo so now we got sounds in it. We've got a blow-up awning which is definitely the best investment we've made on it.
It was a bit of a prick to tow with the ute though. It used to be on an angle but then I bought an adjustable towbar and that allowed me to lower the towbar which fixed the problem instantly. No more sway now, except for lovely New Zealand crosswinds.
Ah ok, they make some good ones there, and a lot of caravans each year. Hopefully you get on top of the water issues and glad to hear you worked out the towing situation, it could be dangerous otherwise.
What kind of fuel economy are you getting, pulling 3 tons is a lot of weight.
Swanky!
Indeed.
Wow, that is quite impressive. I feel like the build quality is a lot better than what we get in the US. I think most of the ones here are all built in the same factory down in Indiana and then shipped off to the different companies. It's just sad to see how much the quality has decreased over the years. Even from when I was a kid and my parents had one. Very nice rig!
The quality is quite high, Australian manufactured using Australian components right down to the steel in the chassis and alloys in the wheels, to the timbers and cabinetry, seating, etc. I'd never buy one that was not made here...but there's some dodgy manufacturers that make the same product branded differently the same as you mention. I've heard many horror stories.
It's sad because the US ones used to be great. You still see a lot of people towing them. They aren't pretty, but they are solid.
Without it on the back, (on the freeway), I use 11L/100km and with it on the back I use 21.5L/100km so it doesn't help fuel economy at all.
No, they aren't really good for that. I see people asking how they can get better mileage all the time. Most people just tell them you have to resign yourself to getting what you get. I forgot to mention, I appreciate your towing mirrors. Many folks who don't have them built in skip adding them and it makes things more dangerous for them and the people around them. One of my biggest pet peeves.
I don't like the built in ones as I mostly don't need them so use a quality set of temporary ones. It's law here and I don't like paying fines for things that were avoidable so I use them. It doesn't make sense not to considering the width of the caravan and inability to see past it without them.
I think a lot of the newer cars have cameras that may give you some sort of view, but I am old school and I prefer to have mirrors. I've lost count of the number of times I have been cut off because the guy isn't using towing mirrors and never sees me
Although I'm not too fond of cars, I love mobile homes. Yours is a nice piece.
Well, it's not mobile without my four wheel drive to pull it so I need both. Will you get one someday yourself?
I hope to, but I doubt if that would suit my country. Moreover, I need to figure out a stable earning source. After all without money backing up, most of my dreams will remain as dreams. My dreams are kinda out of my league till now. 😅 Yacht is top of my list. 🥴
Yes, I think a source of income would be the first step towards reaching your goals.
Already it is too late, need to find something quickly.
If a man is wise who has a house and even a small space, then it can be managed well, as we see that you have kept each thing in a special place and you have made the house enough. Also kept clean.
I like to keep my things clean and in good condition; I work hard to provide the things I have so I look after them.
This is a good habit that makes the rest of the family happy too.
Seems like a lot😂😂
Although it is nice though... I must admit ✨

Well, I live in the land of plenty so it makes sense I guess.
