I've been thinking about this for a while, so last night, I visited the DJI store in Funan Mall to get a firsthand impression of the Pocket 3.
If I decide to get it, it will be a nice upgrade from my Pocket 2. Now, I'm torn between keeping my current Pocket 2, which is still serving me well, and upgrading to the Pocket 3, which could significantly improve the quality of my photo and video creation hobby. I'm trying to determine whether it's a worthy investment or just an unnecessary expense.
So far, I'm quite satisfied with the photo quality of my Pocket 2, especially since I only post my photos online. The images look fine when viewed on smartphones or even laptops, as digital displays tend to mask imperfections at regular viewing sizes. However, the issue becomes apparent when the images are viewed up close or zoomed in, revealing a lack of detail at that level.
I tested the Pocket 3, and it feels reliable to use. It seems solid and well-built compared to the Pocket 2. There's a clear difference in the design of the unit itself—the Pocket 3 feels sturdier and built to last.
Even the movement of the gimbal feels smoother and more fluid compared to the Pocket 2. It was impressive, to say the least.
They offer two package options. The first is the basic package, which includes only essential attachments, while the Creator Combo comes with all the necessary accessories for photo and video creation.
I think the creator combo offers the best value for money considering the prices of each additional attachment that I'll have for a top-up amount of SGD 200 only.
The attachments that excited me the most are the secondary mic and the tripod. There's also the wide-angle lens attachment, which is another great addition.
These three accessories will definitely enhance the quality of the photos and videos I take.
A tripod is definitely a must-have! Holding the Pocket 3 for extended periods can be tiring, so I want the option to let it stand on its own while capturing videos.
I also appreciate that they provide an extra battery pack, as capturing videos consumes a lot of power and drains the battery quickly. I've especially noticed this when recording videos during the day under the heat of the sun. So, this is definitely a great addition to the set.
Overall, the Pocket 3 offers significant improvements over the Pocket 2, from its sturdier build to its smoother gimbal movement and essential accessories like the secondary mic, tripod, and wide-angle lens. While the upgrade is tempting, I need to decide whether it’s a worthwhile investment or just an added expense. Either way, it’s exciting to see how these new features can enhance my photo and video creation experience!

Thanks a lot mate!
I am curious about this for travel videos. I don't have anything other than my phone which is pretty challenging to take videos on the move. It would be nice to have something that's discreet and hands free
I'm really enjoying my Pocket 2 right now—it's definitely handy and discreet, especially for street photography.
I’ve noticed that when I take photos with my phone, I still attract some attention. But with the Pocket 2, I can capture shots more inconspicuously since I don’t have to point it directly at my subject. People might think I’m just checking something on my Pocket 2, unaware that I’ve already snapped a photo of them. Pretty cool!
OK that does sound handy. I always feel awkward taking photos in stores and markets with my phone so this might be a solution to that as well
I do too. Hehe
I'm usually more confident taking street photos at tourist spots.
I've thought about getting something similar because the size genuinely seems useful for travel stuff. And it's such a small handheld camera that you're less likely to cause any unwanted attention when running around. I have a big gimbal for DLSR cameras and it's such a heavy, annoying thing that I hardly take it anywhere.
I think that and a drone (DJI Mini model) would be the ideal combo for that run-and-gun style of shooting.
There's no doubt that a DSLR's image quality is much better than the Pocket, but the convenience is what made me consider getting one. As a hobbyist, the Pocket suits me perfectly, so I’m just enjoying using it.
Whenever I see something cool, I simply whip it out and capture the scene—something that isn’t easy to do with a DSLR or bulky equipment like a proper gimbal.
The Pocket is definitely worth considering! :)
I guess having more options readily available is good, but for someone who is just starting with this hobby, then Pocket is a good starting point in terms of equipment. And then gradually progress :)
I think it really depends on what you want to get out of it. While having the latest and greatest is awesome, one generation behind might not be too far off as long as it still delivers what you want out of it.
You have a good point too. I also thought of it and so I haven't bought this Pocket 3. I want to have more time to think about it :)
The one-inch CMOS sensor makes all the difference. Focus is also faster.
In Europe they cost around €600.
For those who like to shoot in the streets, it seems like the perfect toy.
Looks like it's priced higher here in Singapore 😅
I'm seriously considering getting this Pocket 3, it feels much better than #2.
For a your hobby an upgrade is an asset if it helps you more productive.
That's also one of my considerations, hopefully I can save enough to buy this one soon!
If there is an option like trade the older and used DJI for the newer version and add some small amount.
We got one like this for ourselves - it's definitely worth upgrading!!!
Thanks! The moment I got my hand on it, I was already convinced that I wanted it. Just waiting for the next paycheck hehe

Solid hands-on review @curamax! That 1-inch sensor and improved build quality are impressive upgrades. The Creator Combo seems worth the extra SGD 200 just for that secondary mic and spare battery.
But if your Pocket 2 still does the job for online content, maybe hold off? Unless you're planning to level up your content creation soon.
Nice comparison shots! 👍
