I’ve been noticing an increase in new user activity over the past few weeks, which suggests that more onboarding is happening recently. I believe this is a result of the OCD team's onboarding efforts, which appear to be an effective strategy for bringing new users onto the platform. They not only introduce new people but also provide the necessary support to help these users start building their accounts successfully.
From my observations, the new users onboarded by the OCD team tend to post regularly, engage with others, leave thoughtful comments, and frequently reblog other users' posts. It’s evident that they’re being guided effectively, particularly when it comes to the social aspects of the platform. This approach is beneficial because it helps them gain attention from other users and secure additional support from curators. I think this is an excellent practice for onboarding new users and retaining them.
I’ve also noticed that new users onboarded by other groups or communities exhibit similar activity patterns to those onboarded by OCD.
Just yesterday, for example, I gained three new followers who also reblogged some of my posts. At first, I wondered why it was becoming more common for new users to reblog posts. Then I realized that, on the PeakD frontend, notifications are filtered by default to show only:
- Upvotes above a certain threshold
- Follows
- Comments
- Mentions
- Reblogs
If I were a new user on the platform, my goal would naturally be to attract more attention to my blog. A good way to achieve this would be to appear in other users' notifications.
For new users who are still building their Hive Power, their upvotes may not yet meet the minimum threshold to appear in someone’s PeakD notifications. This means the tools they can use to get noticed are the Follow and Reblog features.
Since it’s only ethical to use the Follow feature once per user, it’s not something that can be repeatedly employed. However, the Reblog tool offers another way for new users to appear in specific users’ notifications.
I believe the Reblog feature is a powerful tool because it allows users to share someone’s post with their own followers. This helps bring fresh attention to a post that might otherwise be buried under the influx of new content.
In this way, reblogging benefits both the original author and the reblogger. The reblogger can introduce the post to a new audience, while also catching the author’s attention by appearing in their notifications.
This might explain why some contests reward participants simply for reblogging contest-related posts. For some, the effort of reblogging a post is seen as valuable.
Personally, I appreciate those who reblog my posts because it motivates me to check out their blogs. Often, if I find their content interesting, I’ll even upvote their posts. In this sense, the Reblog feature encourages greater interaction on the platform, beyond just posting content and commenting.
In conclusion, the Reblog feature is an invaluable tool for fostering engagement and collaboration on the platform. It not only helps amplify quality content but also encourages meaningful connections between users. By leveraging features like Reblog and Follow thoughtfully, we can create a thriving and supportive community that benefits everyone involved.

Thanks a lot mate! I appreciate it.
Great points. I reblog for one of several reasons: The post is great and deserves attention. The post gives useful tips for being on the Hive platform (like your post today). Or, a decent post is performing dismally and needs more support--in that case, I'm hoping some of my followers will see the post and address the issue by upvoting that post.
I curate in two communities...the Inkwell and LMAC. In both communities we acknowledge and curate every post that follows our rules. These are good places for people to get a footing on Hive. Unless something goes wrong (an error), newbies will be welcomed. It might be hard to write a story, but anybody can make a collage :))
I'm glad to read your views about reblogging, which are very good points as well. Some people may think of reblogging as a simple re-sharing feature, but it's actually much more than that.
Only now am I starting to realize that it's more than just a tool. In many instances, it serves as a way to connect with others.
I'll look into Inkwell and LMAC. Hopefully, I can create some collage works to contribute to the LMAC community soon. Thanks for sharing information about these communities!
I have been writing ever since I was a young child, so that comes naturally to me. I love to write and I love to encourage others to write (that's the teacher in me). However, collages are a new venture for me. I first attempted it in 2019 with @shaka's invitation to try our hands at making a collage. I am all thumbs, artistically illiterate, but I jumped in and have been in ever since. For someone who is not an artist, it's a great way to communicate graphically. @shaka was very kind to me in the beginning, and I hope we continue that tradition going forward. Expression through art is good for the spirit, and good for the brain. And it's a great way for newbies to get their feet wet on Hive.
You can tell I'm a true believer :))
Thanks for sharing a part of your background and how you became involved in LMAC. It's truly inspiring!
As someone who has recently delved back into art (again), I can relate. I say "again" because I used to do a lot of drawing as a kid, but then I took a long break before picking it up again. For me, art feels like a form of escape—whenever I create, I tend to pour all my focus into it. It's as if drawing allows me to silence everything around me.
I'm not sure if I'll feel the same when creating a collage, but I'll give it a try soon! :)
Agreed. Although, sometimes when a follower goes on a reblog rampage I use the "Exclude Reblogs" feature on PeakD. Otherwise it is difficult to find and read current follower posts.
Not long ago, I read a post where the author mentioned being annoyed when the people he followed reblogged too many posts, eventually leading him to unfollow them.
I think that's the downside of people reblogging too much content... the feed ends up feeling too cluttered.
The norms on Hive are different than lecacy social media. I find myself having to constantly recalibrate because I use Reddit and Facebook for local civics journalism, and Twitter for some niche communities and Hive promotion.
On legacy social media, people would almost never block someone for retweeting or sharing, that's an almost inconceivable concept.
Tipping bots here seems have fans and detractors.
I forgotten how mainstream social media feels like as I've spent the past 8 years in web3. I just recently got into X to share links but that's it.
Regarding tipping bots, you're correct with your observations, some dislike it because they find it a nuisance 😢. I was constantly using them before but doing it less nowadays.

Yes, a balanced approach to creating original content and sharing content by reblogging would be nice.
Exactly! 👍
Attracting more new users is indeed one of the extraordinary challenges. But in my opinion, another challenge that cannot be forgotten is to attract old users to be active again. They are experienced and have enjoyed the comfort here but then stopped for various reasons. These lost people can be invited back to the home they once lived in.
There are old users that took break from their activities in the platform, they are the ones who are likely to return on the platform when the price goes up. I’m expecting this to happen once Hive reach the high prices (I guess).
However there are old users who completely detached from Hive which I believe are the ones who will never come back to posting here again. I guess they have serious reasons why… can’t tell for sure.
But who knows, they may find their way back to Hive right?
I think this part is often overlooked. Thank you bro for calling it out once more because indeed it helps bolster engagement!
I'm guilty of it too, I seldom reblog :( I only reblog the ones that I think aligns with my view.
Hopefully, I'll change this year.
I like to reblog because I think some posts are really super high-quality and deserve more attention and it's a firm of respect and appreciation to the other users work
That's a very good point. Reblogging will definitely help in terms of visibility of post, especially the ones that aren't able to reach the trending page.
Thanks for doing a great support for others by reblogging their posts. Have a great day!
Very Useful Tips
People and as am I do not notice reblogging and just engage by comments
I have reblogged your post now so others can benefit from
Thank you for the reblogging my post. I appreciate it and I hope that more people would benefit from what I shared in this post.
This is quite a thoughtful one. Thanks for your good effort Curamax.
Thanks for the reblog, I appreciate it man.
In the past I used to reblog often. But these days I don't want to get lost in my blog so I reblog rarely.
I have to be honest, I have feeling about reblogging, it gives me the impression that my blog page looks chaotic and so I rarely use it too.
But when I do, it's because i feel that the post really deserves more attention.
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it !
I usually reblog posts by my followed authors especially the posts I like.

For me, that is a good practice instead of blindly reblogging posts. If you feel that a post represents your views, then it's worth reblogging.
the higher the prices go the more posts we will see start piling up
Indeed. The price makes a difference 😁
