Someone close to me asked why I always buy from the same people when I go shopping. So I told him that these are the people I have been doing business with for years; I trust what they sell, the price they charge, the quality of the product, and the fact that they trust me enough to pay even when I can not afford to.
For example, if the debit card is declined, I may not have enough cash to complete the payment or qualify for a discount that other customers would not.
For example, there is this guy I buy things from, so on that particular day I went to his stand, told him I could not afford the price he was selling to everyone, and he smiled and sold at a ridiculous discount; someone else saw the transaction and asked the guy for the same deal, but the seller refused, saying he wouldn't.
I smiled and left because I knew what had happened.
I have been buying from him for a long time, and if he was not there, I would usually leave the market without purchasing that particular produce.
When I go to the store, I will be like, "I am that guy who came the last time; remember me?" Sometimes they know I am not going to buy at the official price, but they will still sell because I have always bought from them.
This applies to all aspects of my life. For example, Nigeria has the largest real estate scam industry, but I know real estate agents who are loyal and true, and whenever I need them, I simply call them and avoid the scam, saving me time and money from dealing with fake people.
In reality, jumping ship at every opportunity will not get you anywhere.
Shouldn't it be faster?
No!
There must be things, people, and situations in every aspect of life that will keep you locked in through rain or shine. There is always a reward for continuity, but most people underestimate it because they are impatient.
They want to win quickly, so they change opportunities at regular intervals, hoping to catch every falling snow and rain.
What I discovered is that these relationships last for years, and I find it difficult to be scammed by random strangers.
However, it is difficult to find legitimate and honest people or projects, and you may have to be scammed a few times in the process of "trial and error", but when I do, I stick around rather than pursuing everything that appears enticing and shiny.
The long game is how you win in life.
Sometimes it is difficult and monotonous, but it pays off in the end. Things that appear monotonous on the surface are preferable to oversaturation. Whether it is crypto or real life.
Take a broad look at crypto.
.....You will hear people say things like "I bought my first BTC 8 years ago, and I now have no regrets". In the process of owning that BTC, so many shiny stuff have popped up, but they held their resolution and stayed through the FUD and all that.
Most people that bought crypto very early and held their original bags have positive things to say. It is easy to call them lucky, but they persevered in the face of uncertainty, FUD, doubt, and self-loathing. If it were easy to be loyal, the world would have fewer dishonest people, but it is not easy; there are numerous disadvantages to being loyal and sticking to your convictions.
Many people may question your sanity and whether you are truly a rational person.
Connective Advantage
Take a look at Hive; over 80% of the oldies who are still grinding have what you call the power of connection; they can easily find their way around, get support, and so on, thanks to the connections they have built over the years.
This is difficult for a newbie or a returnee to achieve, which is one of the advantages of playing the long game without deflecting.
I was scrolling through Twitter recently when I noticed some guys who had been involved in a crypto project since 2023.
Now, some of them were not sure what they were doing or if it would be fruitful, but they worked hard and consistently, and today I saw some of those guys flex $15k rewards, while others received higher rewards. The cryptocurrency space is wild, and while loyalty can be misplaced and foolish, it usually pays off more than it disappoints.
Change Is not always Advantageous
We live in a world where people change lovers, business partners, wives/husbands, and friends as if they were underwear; at the slightest discomfort, they quickly move on to the next, rather than riding the tide.
They give up too quickly, find new things that appeal to their emotions, and then dump them again. At the end of the day, they explore everything without having a foundation or a distinct identity.
If you have not learned to play the long game, you are unlikely to advance. You will run but never cover a mile, you will age but never taste like fine wine, and you will try everything but probably never succeed.

Couldn't agree more, the long game is how you win in crypto. Assuming you don't dump into meme coins... Always best to stick with people you know well and have a history of honesty, hard to do online though. I know certain people locally that I do business with fairly often, because I've known them for years.
The Hive community is a long game scenario, fortunately most of us are good people!

Haha, I'm sure there are users on Hive that at one point have used their hive bag to gamble with meme coin, hoping they can kill two birds with a stone and then win big.
Unless I'm financially free (which is a very long shot) I'm not going near memes, and even someone that's financially free can get rekd if they become addicted to it.
Agree with support local people you get to know over many years, online is slightly different.
A firm supporter of projects in early years of crypto, led to dealing with nasty consequences. Once bitten twice shy, now I am on Hive having found communities that do support each other.

It is trust factor when never having met personally
I don't online unless it's something very rare that I cannot get from the local people I buy from, for example my chemo medications, I tend to buy them online.
Yeah, on Hive, I think we have these communities who we come to know and trust over the years
Good to befriend local people, support them, much like online support with trust in mind, if doubtful walk away. Have a brilliant new week and take care.
Things don't change easily and most people avoid it. I do think that going to the same person builds trust and that trust can help down the line. Will it always help? It won't, but that is why you just stick with what you trust in. I agree that holding onto things that you trust, even in crypto is the way to go.
Holding on to things one knows and trust is always the right way to go at least 70% of the times it should work this way. Well it won't always help and we need innovation.

I think playing the long game is the only way to build solid foundations that will last a lifetime. Experiencing some volatility within the long game is quite normal and shouldn't be interpreted as a sign to jump ship, wished I've learnt this earlier.
I think volatility is scary, although it's there in every aspect of life, however most times the choice is always to jump ships and then probably come back when the storm have passed. However this act alone shows disloyalty
Coming back when the storm has passed could be viewed as peak disloyalty. It's only when we experienced the hard times can we be truly rewarded during the good or great times.
Sometimes not everyone knows or care about a long time customer, i think it depends on the individual mindset.
There's this woman i always purchase food stuffs from her store, there was a day i wanted to buy tomatoes from her, on packing the tomatoes for me, i figured there was a bad one in it, i requested for it to be changed. She refused, saying she won't change it for me.
I was pissed because I've been buying things from her form her, consistently for 3 years. That day was the end of doing business with her.
Well, I know these type of people. We cannot always have good customers, but we can actually make sure 80 to 9% of them are trustworthy. The ones that will mess up will mess up, and that's the same for every other thing as well, I guess
You speak wisely brother! Consistency pays at the end
