So, flowers and love—what’s the deal?
The connection between flowers and love is deeply rooted in history, culture, and symbolism. The tradition of giving flowers

Charles II of Sweden is credited with introducing the Persian custom of the "language of flowers" to Europe in the early 18th century. Valentine's Day itself has its origins in the legend of Saint Valentine
a Christian martyr who is said to have performed secret weddings for lovers. According to one version of the story, Saint Valentine was imprisoned for defying the emperor's orders and continued to marry couples in secret. During his time in jail, Saint Valentine befriended his jailer, Asterius, who was impressed by Valentine's wisdom. Asterius asked Valentine to help his blind daughter, Julia, with her lessons. Valentine read to Julia and became her friend. Through his guidance, Julia's faith grew, and according to legend, she experienced a miraculous healing of her blindness. Before he was martyred, Valentine wrote a final note to Julia, encouraging her to stay close to Jesus and thanking her for being his friend. He signed it, "From your Valentine." This note inspired people to start writing loving messages on February 14th, which became known as Valentine's Day. ❤️
Over time, Valentine's Day evolved into a celebration of love and romance, and flowers became one of the most enduring symbols of this occasion.

I love flowers although I am not a great connoisseur of them, particularly yellow roses attract me too much, and I will not hide that they are my weakness... But in general they are a precious gift from nature.
I also didn't know the story of Saint Valentine with that precision while he was imprisoned... much has been said about it, but I never heard of that part of the story...

I'll have to look into that. We have some roses in the back that I have managed not to kill yet, but I don't feel like they are thriving the way they could. Though I usually cut them back each fall too, so that could be part of the reason.
Those are so pretty! I loved the history lesson, I honestly didn't know much about the history of the holiday. Tomorrow is the big day!

In my country, Valentine's Day is very commercial. Although it probably depends on how everyone celebrates what. The holiday started to be celebrated here after 1989, before that we had communism. It seems to be more of a business holiday than a lovers' holiday. But it's the same with Christmas, Easter and Halloween.
