I am a pretty consistent author on Hive. Considering that I've posted every day last year, one could say very consistent. With all that, in my almost seven years on Hive and the legacy chain, this is my first 'Yearly Author' badge on HiveBuzz, awarded to authors who post every day of the year.
That means in other years I missed at least a day. I remember last year I posted every day of the year except one or two days around Christmas time, so I was very close to another one.
But knowing my recent consistency, people could think I've always been like that. No, I wasn't. When I started, I think I posted two or three times per week for a while until I switched to a daily post. Then, at some point, I took longer hiatuses from posting, even though I was still on Hive every day. It seemed the right thing to do at the time. In hindsight, it probably wasn't.
If we look at my weekly badges, I have 240 of them and almost 7 years around (will be 7 at the end of January). If I had posted every day, I should have close to 52*7 = 364 of them.
Like that, it corresponds to 240/52 = 4.61 years of daily posting. However, this is not a precise measurement, since when I didn't post daily I missed the weekly author badges as well. And I remember, in the beginning, even as a daily author, I often missed it with only 6 days of posting instead of 7. For whatever reason it happened to miss a day of the week.
Nowadays, the daily post is very much my routine and almost impossible to miss unless I decide not to write it or something very unexpected happens that prevents me from checking out Hive most of the day (and I have no post scheduled).
Consistency doesn't come easy, at first. You will resist it, especially if rewards don't entice you to continue by comparison with posts of similar quality. But Hive is a long term game, and what new users often don't understand correctly is that in time you also network with other people which may prefer to upvote your post instead of a newcomer they know nothing about, even if posts are of similar quality, or even if the new user has a few exceptional posts.
A history of posts (or insightful comments) also allows someone to see what kind of person the user is, what their ideas are, what kind of activities they are involved in on Hive, what they prefer to write about, and maybe what kind of effort they put into their work. That gives high-stake curators more confidence to vote for them... or not. Of course, they still need to find your posts, which sometimes is an issue on Hive.
The price action of Hive has often been an inhibitor or a motivator to continue being active. Want to guess what's the case now? 😀
What new users often don't know is that people earn more Hive during the bear market when its dollar value is low or very low than during the bull market when it starts to go to the moon. The reason is because there is less competition while the reward pool is constant every day, in HIVE terms.
I am glad to see my first "yearly author" badge, but it is just a confirmation of the consistency I applied in writing my posts for at least two and a half years, maybe more.

Congratulations. I only have 2 of them, and it just shows how consistent you were on posting last year.
Awesome! 2 is better than 1. Almost had 2 myself, lol. But almost doesn't cut it.
That is quite an achievement @gadrian. Congratulations! (a word which seems hardly adequate ...) In my years of posting on Hive (and the legacy chain), I know what it takes. At least if, as is the case with yours, one is truly attempting to write some "quality content." I would say, from that experience base, only a few people will ever have this badge that now you can display with deserved pride.
Thank you! Appreciate your kind words! Indeed, it is more difficult when you are in the habit of finding something to say every day.
Congratulations on forming a strong positive habit. From the perspective of quality, do you feel that the regularly daily writing has translated into better writing, or more thoughtful observations?
I have set a daily goal to read and comment on at least ten-posts a day. My notion is that if it's done intentionally, and with some care - that creates something of a lattice across the network, reinforcing good intentions.
Thanks!
I can tell that regular writing makes me write better in the sense of less blockages, and maybe a better flow of ideas and words. Is the quality of posts better when writing daily compared to writing less often? It depends. Someone could prefer a less frequent rhythm to be able to tweak their posts until they are happy with the final form and to be able to write long/very long pieces.
I agree. That daily engagement shows results in time, that compounds. Good intentions are very important, as someone who comments with the reason of "milking" upvotes eventually may get branded as spammer or something similar.
This is one thing new users or old users who are returning because of price action. They don't know that people there are more biased towards those they know who have been consistent with them for a very long time.
Congratulations for posting throughout the year, I don't think it's an easy accomplishment
I think it depends on how the year goes. There are sometimes roadblocks or choices that are inevitable and we miss days, even if we are consistent otherwise. Proof of that is 2023 for me, with only 2 days missed.
I don't think I can go a year without missing. Most of the time it's either I don't because of a serious illness, or I have family responsibilities. The be able to go 365 is unimaginable resilience
Yeah, in my goals, I set 350 posts per year for the same reason. I don't start with the assumption I would be able to carry on for the entire year without missing a day. As you said, it can be illness, other responsibilities that are placed before Hive, or even vacation time (I haven't had a proper one in a while).
Congrats on your achievement!
Yeah I was saying this to my friend earlier. In fact most of the hard work is done during bear markets, even investing. But human nature's tendency is to chase the hype. Haha. Looks like more people will return to Hive soon.
Thanks! If we look at the crypto space, we see most people are highly influenced by price, including in their activity in crypto. Who goes past that, is more like the dedicated crypto/Hive user, as opposed to the majority, which are as active as the sentiment level.
Yeah so true.. Hive today is same as the Hive yesterday. Nothing much changed.
Congratulations on your badge, it is certainly a recognition of discipline and perseverance. Here's to more daily posts and more badges. Greetings, a hug
Well, let's hope more will come. As you said, they are a recognition of my consistent posting. Thanks for dropping by!
Forget all those missed #HivePUM badges as this badge, "kills them all"! 😃
A yearly author badge is the best consistency proof that anyone can get!
Congratulations! 👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks, man! I am quite proud of it, because a tiny slip and it's gone. And as I replied to another comment, I don't even start with a goal of posting every day of the year, because I know how difficult to achieve that is. My tolerance is about two weeks, so 350 is fine with me. But 365 was the perfect score I may or may not achieve again.
It is extremely difficult to publish every day, especially when you try to add value to all your posts as you are doing! 💪
That's a hell of a ride!
Congrats!
Thanks! It sure was!
A big congratulations to you on getting this badge. From a day to day basis, 365 days is really long and posting every day of the year takes making writing a post everyday a routine, maybe even a second nature too. Hive is indeed a long game and I'm only realizing that recently, need to update some of my mental models of Hive lol.
It is long, but not unheard of. There are probably a few dozens of people who received the badge, a couple of them known authors, but I know, to the extreme 1 year is short compared to 7+ years of daily posting as I know someone has been doing, without writing nonsense.
Yes, unlike the general crypto, with notable exceptions, Hive has the luxury of having a history, and that is pretty rare. Perhaps that's why we can "afford" to think long term instead of trying to get rich within a cycle or less.
Wow! This is so incredible. Consistency is truly the key, and it's achievable. I went through your blog, and I was super impressed. Despite posting every day, the quality of your content didn't drop, and that friend is commendable.
Cheers to more achievements on the blockchain😃
Thanks! It's not always easy, to be honest. But it became easier than some time ago, when I struggled to find something to write on some days.
Thanks for dropping by!
Congratulations on this very difficult achievement. I don't even try to reach this achievement. Weekly is a far easier one most users can accomplish.
The same is true for SPS, LEO and many others. The inflation is fixed and the competition is lower for the same amount of Tokens during the bear market.
Thanks! Yep, the weekly badges were the ones "hunted" at first too. Sometimes successfully, other times, not so much. Back then, it seemed almost impossible to get the monthly author badge. And look at me now... 😀
Absolutely! Good point and people need to be aware of that.
Congratulations!
Thanks!
I enjoy reading your posts, sorry I don't comment more often!
It happens to me as well. I read many more posts than I comment on, so I totally get you. No problem! Thanks for reading and for letting me know!
Congratulations @gadrian! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain And have been rewarded with New badge(s)
