RE: Mushroom Pumpkin Hunt and Carving Fun

in FungiFridaylast month

This is gorgeous, @theworldaroundme - and aye; it is very good to tweak traditions into lighter ways, eh... Our Samhain traditions in Scotland involved guising rather than trickertreating as kids later called it. With a carved turnip: poor mum, having to scrape out such a solid root vegetable - for 3 of us! - and the guising part was taking quite seriously: less importance on the costume as the performance at each door, of a poem or song. 😇🙏👋 I still have strong positive memories of those times. Love seeing you create such beautiful and meaningful crafts

Thank you dear @clareartista. Guising is such a wonderful tradition! It's so cute to see children performing at the front door before getting their sweets; they have to put in a bit of effort. I can imagine how cute you and your siblings must have been. And yes, I enjoy tweaking things; it probably satisfies my imagination. Thank you for the lovely words and thoughts, really appreciated. Have a lovely day. 🩷😊💕🥰
