It is said that those who seek will find.
Well, I can't confirm that this is fulfilled every time and that everybody finds the desired thing in life. Or just a small thing that is searching for... no, it is not always achieved. For example, one can search for a tiny mushroom, walk in forests and woods and be unsuccessful in that activity for a long time. That person can question the first statement and doubt the correctness of the same.
On the others side, there are situations where the combo of the circumstances makes miracles. You don't even think about finding an object you would generally like to see and voila - you have it in front of your nose. When the rain in Porto, a closed market and the necessity to buy some veggies make you find those mushrooms you have been searching for in nature without success... Is it a lucky event to find them in a market? I bet it is.
The result of all this searching not searching activity can sometimes be out of our hands, we just find ourselves seeing a few stalls selling mushrooms. Fresh and dried ones. Of different types. Let's start with the common mushrooms, like champignons, portobello, shiitake or Pleurotus. I use them pretty often as they can be found easily (in markets and shops) at my place. I like them in sauces, soups, tortillas or breaded.
The label for the following one says Pรฉ de Carneiro. I had no clue what that meant to be so I searched by the name and what came as the result was Hydnum repandum. It is also known as Sweet Tooth. Nice name :))
But it was not all. My attention was captured by a more interesting mushroom, Morchella (Morels). I have never found them in my mushroom-hunting adventures... Until now, while strolling among the stalls in this market. Does it count? ๐
I am not sure if I would even pick any of these if I would find them in nature. There are so many types of them and I would not be sure if they were edible. But from now on, if I find morels, I will take them!! Not that I have any hope that it will happen, ever...
Looking at the price of them (55 euros for 100gr of dried Morchella) I think I can live without using them in my dishes. Portobello will be also good for today's lunch :D
Another interesting mushroom finding... Shiitake growing on a log. Really cool to have this offer, basically you would have the feeling of picking these mushrooms directly from the wood. You just have to forget the paying part and the place where you found the log (the market) and be happy for the rest of the day lol.
Finishing these lines for the #FungiFriday event held by @ewkaw, I will put my shoes on and go to the woods market and bring home some fungi ingredients for today's lunch. Somehow Friday becomes weird if there is no mushroom on the table ๐
That log is so cool! I already imagined that having on my windowsill. The way some people have little herb garden... I have a log :D
You should have come to Porto for the log ๐
It would be perfect to have one of these ๐

How fun and interesting your posts are. Look how there is variety, and how do you eat them? My goodness, I feel like I'm missing out on life. Thank goodness I have you.
I too wonder what they look like (farms?) of mushrooms.
Best regards my friend.
๐น
Hey @nanixxx !!
Thank goodness I also have you, to cheer me up any time ๐
A variety of mushrooms, it was indeed haha. We eat them in soups, or grilled, in sauces, and also breaded. That is what I prepared on Friday. Also, when we were on our trip we eat one pizza that had just vegetables on it and a lot of big mushrooms (not those small sliced ones from the can). It was super tasty!
btw, how cute is your avatar ๐
I have eaten mushrooms, I like them very much. In pizzas and salads. But when I saw so many, I went into a short circuit hahahaha... sorry. I edited my previous comment because I was insufferable. English makes me tense.
About my avatar I can tell you that you can contact @janetedita, if you feel like it, take a look at her profile to see her miracle bees. She has them in the "churrรบn" as I call the NFTShowroom. Wait for the links. It is a NFT my little warrior bee.
In my last post I talk about @janetedita, but it's about AIs. It's a great topic, but I only wrote it in Spanish.
Thank you
well, I understand Spanish, as you know :D
But English is faster and easier for me to write. ๐ฅ
Ow, she indeed makes miracles. so cute bees ๐
Ni @nanixxx nanixx and @mipiano ! Thank you both very much for your opinion about my little bee ๐ค
They are very nice @janetedita ๐
Thanks ๐ค๐ค
I agree, Friday without some form of mushrooms feels weird. We are trapped in #FungiFriday 's magic ;)
Wow! I've never seen so many uncomon mushrooms in one place! The sweet tooth mushrooms are growing abundantly in my nearby forest. We call them hedgehog mushrooms. I ate so many of them, I most likely wouldn't buy them from the market :D
Morels on the other side - well, I'd defo buy a few just to try. I never tasted them and it is also my dream to find them. So no, finding them on the market doesn't count ;) Let's stick to the plan of one day finding them in nature. Apparently their season in Northern Hemisphere starts in April. I have my wellies ready to start looking for them again! ๐
Hahah, we are trapped ๐ฑ
๐
You are lucky to have those hedgehog mushrooms at your place, and good that you know to recognize them and pick them. Must be fun bringing mushrooms home and preparing them later! Cool.
Ok, let's stick to the plan to find morels in nature. Maybe I should change the place of searching for them though ๐
Good luck to you when the season comes and you start searching for them :))
Haha ๐ If you look for them in your garden, then defo need a change of place ๐
Seriously though - Iโm going to read more about where I can find these in my area. Maybe the forest nearby just hasnโt got the right ecosystem for them? Iโll do some digging and I really hope that in 2023 I will make a post for FungiFriday with my very own found morel ๐คฉ
Iโll also be happy if itโs in 2024. Or 2025. Or anytime, just to find one in nature ๐
Good luck to you too ๐

No, no in my garden, but the Mediterranean coast is not really generous in offering free mushrooms ๐
Those years are ok, 2024/25 or later, whenever a morel decides to come to us ๐
Itโs my silly sense of humour ๐
Are there no forests where you live? Iโd expect there are places to pick them if they sell them at the market. Unless maybe they grow them?
Ahh, whichever year and wherever in the world, I want to pick up one morel by my own hands ๐๐๐
That sense of humour is cool, I like it too ;)
There are some conifer forests in the mountains, and there can be found some mushrooms in the autumn and winter (I found recently a bunch of small ones) but here, by the seashore, it is not happening a lot of times.
Oh thatโs good to know. Cause sometimes I might unintentionally offend someone with my humour, Iโm happy you enjoy it too ๐
Ahh, I see. Tricky to find then!
I just checked my mushroom app and it says that morels can sometimes be found growing in woodchip mulch used in flower beds. So my joke wasnโt really baseless. I think I remember reading a post on fb allotment groups that someone found morels around their flowers on allotment ๐
Maybe you should buy one morel and spread the spores around your garden ๐
Holy heaven! I recognize quite a few, among which the famous ๐ฆgomba ๐ I have a book with most of the fungi, otherwise I wouldn't know.
:D
Cool to combine with the emoji ;))
So you have a book to recognize the mushrooms easily, but do you also find them in nature? What I find here in woods is mainly not (or not at all) edible.
I don't like to forage mushrooms as I don't trust myself enough. My dad on the other hand knows them and collects a few. There's a pasture at the back of the garden and the owner is moving the cows, rotating the land and in October, when there's rain, there are mushrooms growing and that's when my dad goes to collect as much as he can. Otherwise you go to the forest, but if there's no rain, you get nothing.
I love the presentation of those shiitake mushrooms. It looks almost natural. I think foraging for food is the same in the markets and woods. Perhaps there a little bit less wilderness involved, but people could get savage in th markets too.
Nice photos too. There's a wide variety of thing I had never see in my life.
That's funny ๐คฃ the statement that foraging for food is the same in the markets and woods ๐
But people being savage is probably not a funny sight...
Ha, ha, ha, ha, some things never change. ๐
And, not, it isn't a good sight...
Though it can be grotesque... or sad?
Even both.
combo
And not the food kind like those shrooms!
This is so much more convenient, I wish I thought of this earlier ๐
Now you know ๐
Ugh... a lot of mushrooms! ๐
Yep, it was a nice offer of them :D
Uh ๐๐๐... I want try all this , they look very good.
Yes, they looked all good, but the morels were the most interesting to me :))
Very many varieties of mushrooms are sold in your area.
I really love mushrooms i think this is heaven for mushroom shopping.
Hehehe, it was a market for veggies and even flowers, but the mushrooms were outstanding ;)

wow... I was shocked to see some of the types of mushrooms you featured tonight.
It's a wonderful mushroom.
Yeah, there was a nice variety of them ๐
Hey I saw food from mushrooms like that for the first time, here I can't even find mushrooms in the market, rarely anyone sells them, maybe I have to go to the forest to be able to find some mushrooms๐คญ
I think you would be able to find some mushrooms in the forest, the climate is probably good for them. Don't know though why they can't be found in the market at your place.
I live in a village, maybe that's the reason, and it's also rare for people to like mushrooms Here, maybe
That's a pity as they are tasty, but we all have different traditions and cuisine so it is normal. ๐
These mushrooms look very nice, even though Iโve never tasted any I think it would be nice, especially how you guys talk about mushrooms soup๐ . Damnโฆ some of us are really missing out on certain type of dishes, I hope you have a great weekend
They are tasty, for me, but there are people who don't like them. It is all question of taste and preferences... But I hope you can try some dish with mushrooms so you can know do you like them or not ๐
Wow ๐ฎSo many different types of mushrooms you have in the market we only get champignon. Lucky you to enjoy many different tastes greetings Have a nice weekend๐๐
What is missing from the forest can be found in the market ๐
In the supermarket there are mainly those most common mushrooms, like champignons or portobello but here we saw all these different ones.
A lot of mushrooms.. Not familiar with others. I'm only seeing a few kinds here ๐
It's not that I always see this variety of mushrooms. We were on our road trip btw when walked to this market for vegetables and then I saw all these mushrooms;)
Haven't tried that one in the first photo.. We usually cook shiitaki and inoki
I haven't tried those from the first photo either, but all those from the second photo yes :))
Wow!My first time seeing these different varieties of mushrooms!I'm amazed. We only have 2/3 kinds I have seen so far in my place!
Wonderful!
It was a nice variety. Usually, I see just those more common ones, but this market offered more types ๐
Wawoo amezing mushrooms

Wow! Speaking of mushrooms, that's one of my favorites .. Back then when I was in my elementary year I used to get mushrooms in our backyard and from wherever nearby our house. The soup of it is so delicious. Thank you for sharing this one. Stay safe and God bless.
That's cool to get mushrooms from the backyard. No need for a forest or market :))
Yeah, it's for free. It only need effort to find those..
A bit of effort, than the finding is even more appreciated :))
Wow! A shop with abundant mushrooms! Awesome! We don't have this kind of shop here in my city well I think even in the whole country for that matter. Maybe there might be a few but not as much as these displayed. Like there are so many varieties to choose from. Frankly I can only eat mushrooms from cans because I don't know how to cook them!๐๐๐
I usually add them on our viands as extender but not as a main dish.
Maybe ai need to learn some recipes about mushrooms.
Happy weekend beautiful soul!๐ฅฐ๐
It is not difficult to prepare them, they can be in soup, sauces, omelette... and yesterday I prepared breaded mushrooms :)
Holy moly that's a lot variety of mushrooms in one place! My favourite are button, king oyster and portobello.
It was nice to see all these types of fungi, indeed :)) I prepared portobello yesterday ;)
I was gonna ask if it was for food or just a museum or keeps..
But then you are making lunch.. hehe
And they are quite expensive..
Over here people would prefer eating meats and fish, no one would take eating mushrooms for fancy, but they are really health yeah..
How do you know the ones that a good for eating tho ?
Sorry I know nothing about mushrooms hehe
Hahaha, no, not a museum thing ๐
The morel is very expensive, that's true.
How do I know if they are edible? Well, I don't usually pick those that I find by myself in nature. And after some time you learn the main types. In the market, they sell just edible ones, so no worries with that :))
