Hello friends, hope you are doing fine?
Making education for free will be a prayer answered to those families who can not afford to send their children to school. Some children out there are physically and mentally good to attend school but cost becomes a concern. Some even joined. I had to quit due to identical reasons. Free education would undoubtedly have a good influence on the society in as far as those who go to school never take such privilege for granted.
It will ease the financial pressures on families who have multiple children.
A better educated populace may offer a variety of advantages for society. It will lead to more workers thereby generating economic growth in the society. I.e if every individual who has interest in medicine is given the chance to attend a medical school, we would have more equipped doctors in our hospitals but today our medical school is too costly. Some are spending $2000(1.5 million naira) for a session. Even a civil servant worker can't afford to pay if his kid goes there.
However, there may also be some negative implications of making education free.
Most times items that are free are not respected as when you pay for it same as schooling. There will be a significant degree of unseriousness in schools. When you realize you are paying for it you want to get the most out of it and want to make the effort of your parents not to be in vain.
Another bad impact when education is free is that the school will be overcrowded since everyone may attend then it will degrade the quality of education. It will also be very challenging for the government to construct infrastructures and supply excellent resources. Our school fees are utilized to pay lecturers and construct infrastructures in our school. Imagine without paying school fees the government may feel less care and it may be hard from their end as they have other things they will fund.
Making education free for everybody might possibly have an influence on the education . It might lead to a rise in the number of students in schools and universities, which could result in bigger class rooms. This might make it more difficult for teachers to devote personalized attention to each student because of the population and could lead to a deterioration in the quality of education.
On the other side, making education free for everyone might lead to an increase in money for schools and colleges, which could be used to recruit more instructors and enhance teacher training. But in a circumstance when the number of students are large and there are fewer teachers there would be stress on the available teachers and the children will not obtain excellent education.
However, for this to work, it also depends on how the free education program is implemented. It would need good planning and administration of the resources and money to guarantee the quality of education is not compromised either by the government, the teacher, or even the students.
To instill seriousness in the children I believe regulations may be presented to them. A minimum grade may be imposed and any student who doesn't achieve the grade may drop out.
Thank you for reading 😊
Everybody has a right to basic education I guess and education at younger ages ahould not be serious and academic. It should instill life skills, confidence and charactor in kids and it should not be based on performence.
Higher education is different ball game.
Even then, since I feel school education is not all for sucess, as what you learn in school you can learn by interning, volunteering, tavelling, reading books.
You should be happy, you should bring out your talents and skills... and lots of love, fun and compassion than labeling, neddless academic pressure etc...
I will never send my kids to school, if I had any for sure from my experience.
Because school made me have inferiority complex, I was socially hated, labeled as stupid and hopeless and I was put on best schools and forever I feel guilty that I did not benefit from it...
shrugs...
I really think going to higher education and Still getting a skill is the best. The bother is superb. I don't really think you should delay your children the right of going to school when you have the money to.
No way I will do home schooling...travelling, volunteering and rather teach kids about life than sending them to school... I don't think school does good to kids, because it ruined my life... by labelling me as stupid, slow and getting ragged, beaten... and insulted...
I will I read books, volunteered, and did home schooling... you just study what you need to then mug up all those nonsense you can't digest...
I don't believe in school system.
Even kids who dont go to school but are trained in basics and go about what they are good at, they will do well...
Sucess and life, is about being your best self, doning what your meant to do and have passion for, school does not bring it out.
School did not work for me...so I hold such views... and there are many like me... check out home schooling its a treand... I think you should research it... school can cripple your self confidence and make you feel like a loser like it did for me!!!
I'm sorry about that school did to you.
I get what it has done to your mental health but nevertheless i get that's your point of view
That would be a welcome development, especially for those families who couldn't afford it when it was paid, but it has to be well monitored, else it's taken for granted and the purpose for which it was initiated won't be achieved
Exactly why many will be happy so e will take the privilege for granted
That's it my sister, hows been your day
Was fine but stressful tho and yours?
Ya and let's not forget the world order could break. Sad to say but we do need people that don't go through higher education. Anyways love your points on the negative implications. I agree with you there~
Some people want to go but don't have the money to
Ya of course but my point was that everyone can't be getting higher education if not who's going to do the dirty work like collecting garbage or construction work etc
I understand tho but who said does who do construction work or garbage didn't attend higher institution. Many of them went tho but didn't get a job or instead of doing illegal jobs they are doing that
I don't think so. There's actually a fair lot of people that don't go for higher education~. Of course there are those that still do attend higher institution but most that do won't do those kinds of jobs. You tell me you study to be a doctor or lawyer than you going to work for garbage or do construction?
Nobody wants that kind of job but that's life although being a doctor or a lawyer is a professional job you don't expect them to do that but am trying to say there are graduate who do that
Ya and I never disagreed with you there. There are some but for most part no they don't

Implementing free education must be done with proper planning on the side of government or those funding it and they have to consider the instructors or teachers teaching the students. If there isn't proper planning for them also, it might affect the quality of teaching on their end.
Exactly that's why i said free education may be really hard in this country tho
If free education is to be done, it needs proper monitoring cause lot of things can be left undone. And this may lead to the collapse of some of the school if neglected for long.
I believe the present days government in Nigeria and some African countries can't do it because parents are paying school fees now the system isn't up to standard, so what if there is no payment?
Everything will be a complete mess, but if the price is subsidized then schooling will be affordable for all to attend
😂😂😂 true sha
Educational system still still rebranding even with the huge amount we are spending in public universities last year we stayed 9 months at home and nothing was done
Yes o, my younger ones was also affected. So they shouldn't try free education here in Nigeria at all because it's not going to work out
😂😂😂😂😂😂 swears
The fact that free higher education is available is a good thing. Yes we know they would abuse it, but it would bring alot of positive change to the society.
With strict rules to govern the new system, free higher education would work.
Hope you know even in advanced countries nothing like free education only what you can see is scholarship and you must worth it first
I know dear, it just feels good to dream that one day we can have a free higher education🤣.
Yeah it really does
