What's that supposed to be?

Nothing it isn't supposed to. That's autumn in the Appalachian Mountains. Autumn is incapable of being disingenuous.

That's it? Point at a forest, give it a little clickety-do, put your frame thing around it and call it a cover image?

Yeah except there's 525,960 minutes in a 365 day, 52 week calendar year and, unless you point and clickety-do on November 16th between 13 and 15 hundred EST, you'll miss it.

Where is this prodigiously aberrant location incapable of maintaining its appearance one minute to the next?

We're on it now. Circular in shape for superior aerodynamics designed to travel 25 miles per second in a galaxy surrounded by a cluster of galaxies called Local Group.

That's way over my head.

I knew you'd say that.

Of course you knew I'd say that.

I knew you'd say that, too. It isn't just ours its over. We aren't the only ones here.

Where?

High Ground Park - East Tennessee USA

We had the whole place to ourselves. There was a gentleman exiting the trail when we pulled up, remember?

Short dude in a flannel. Late 40's probably. Baseball hat with an extraordinarily rounded bill and looks like he could lay off drive-thru's for awhile. He's excited. A little too excited. Exceeding the posted limit. The volume in his voice was a few notches too many when his twitchy index finger frantically pointed at the car:

HEY! That's the same car they're looking for on the Amber Alert!! Look!

I'm not a fan of people I've known forever shoving unwanted things in my face so when dude came at me with his phone on blast I put out my not index finger like stay.the.fuck.back. In his defense, they were in fact looking for Tennessee's #1 selling vehicle.

California - Toyota Camry or Ford Fusion. UK - Volkswagen. Blending. Tennessee - Subaru now where were we?

High Ground Park - 3/4 mile out and back trail on top of 39 protected hillside acres. It was designed 10 years ago to preserve one of eight Civil War forts occupied by the Northern Union in 1863—Fort Higley. All eight forts surrounded Knoxville preventing a Southern Confederate siege of the city.

"There's a lot of war history on the trail. Sure is a lot of history to take in out there. The trail is decorated in Civil War history" said all the reviews when I searched walking trail, view, Knoxville, paved, easy.

There's a sweeping breeze with just enough strength to rain seasonal leaves. At the other end is a row of empty red chairs. Exceptionally well crafted chairs by the way, probably Amish built, they were in need of attention. So I got comfortable and forgot where I was for awhile, packed a freshy and virtually made High Ground Park a reality with @nineclaws and @edprivat.

I absolutely love fall in the Appalachians!

Very beautiful photos! 😊

And I absolutely love first impressions with virtual strangers, wassup lilzmom902?

As do I! 😊

Nice to encounter you @dandays

lol your not index finger hahaha
This reminds me of the time I was trying to force my 5 year old son, who had "run away" on his bike, into my car. A passing motorist stopped, ordered me to stay put, and called 911. When the cop arrived, my traumatized kids (I had my three year old daughter with me) would not speak to him to corroborate I was their mother. hahaha.

I love Tennessee. So beautiful. Thanks for the walk there.

What a great story. Are they still that close? That's how it should be. I know quite a few people with siblings but not many would cold shoulder their own mother for the other.

The scenery here is pretty one of a kind. Where I'm from we don't get these 4 season things so what's just another day to locals is unlike anything I've seen.

Always nice to hear from you, Owasco. Thank you. How's the aunts property?

I love the house, but the yard is far too small for me. I'm looking around for a second home/getaway. Thanks for remembering and asking!

They didn't cold shoulder me they cold shouldered the officer. I don't remember what finally convinced him they were mine. Maybe I whipped out my breast and nursed the younger one. But no, they are not nearly as close as they were back then.

Where are you from?

Los Angeles. Most of my years are from Long Beach.

I misunderstood, they cold shouldered the officer, even better. I was hoping you'd say still close but I'm lying if I said I expected it. Life.

Of course I remember! Now what were we talking about?

God love ya @dandays, your writing is so interesting. What a beautiful place to be. Great photos.

This is a nice surprise, good morning @farm-mon, God loves you guys too. I'm pretty sure you're in Florida, enjoy. We got our tickets and stay booked finally to get the you know what outta USA, look out April! :pause:

We've been on pause a year and a half :play:

Thank you as always Farm-mom, I'm glad you enjoyed this one.

Are you going back to UK? I know you really liked it there.

Yeah. We'll at least get established there. We've been here long enough. The housing market over there is a better investment.

Sounds great, I wish you the best.

I've always hated amber alerts. Can't even remember how long ago it was that I disabled them on my phone. If someone came at me like your late-40s drive-thru not-friend, we would have a problem 🙃

That's some lovely fall scenery. Good thing you got there at just the right time.

One minute before or after would've been completely different, we wouldn't even be here right now had it not been for my timing.

Wassup man? I'm glad you caught this one. I was so not expecting drive-thru man. For whatever reason I'm often told they've met me before and I have to assure whoever we've never met but he was a first.

They'nt riiight roundeez her parts mmkay.

Doze air parts is messtup fersher.

Nothing better than a walk in the forest, sitting on a chair, blazing to smoke gods! (as the gods of smoke, not smoking gods)
He saw one sock, but not the other one, are they matching socks?

I am saying this just because I rarely have matching socks, I don't know where I am going with this just roll with me.

I'll roll anywhere with you.

Sorry for the second mention just now. I spaced pasting the pinmapple snippet in there the first time, it's all Skittles OG fault!

You remember that day yeah? Back in the day....

Pura wears my socks to sleep. I wear black socks. Thing is, I wear mine right-side in or as most call it, inside-out. So it's not uncommon to grab a freshy and one's inside out and the other's right-side in.

Rollin.....

Sorry for the second mention just now.

It's ok don't mention 😄

I'm sorry I didn't mention it earlier. When you mentioned they don't match do mean in length or color and how would you describe the current condition of your socks?

I'm sorry I didn't mention it earlier. When you mentioned they don't match do mean in length or color and how would you describe the current condition of your socks?

I am glad you asked. the current sock situation is quite alarming, the shelves are empty, and they don't match either in length or color. There is a restock planned in the next few days to handle the crisis, we'll hear more about it next week, I will probably make an announcement and we will, all together, come stronger from this challenge.

Viva la socks!

Only thing better than a new pair of socks is a new pair of socks worn right side in. You ever worn them like that? I mean, if you're gonna document the experience anyway, might as well add tryin'em out with the fuzzy part on the outside to the story.

Good morning buddy. I was reading some of the comments here and if I've got it correct, it sounds like you will be back at it very soon,
Where are you headed.

The day's outing to High Ground Park looked like a good time.
The way the political scene seems to be going here in the states lately, lets hope that another Civil War, with all of its monuments aren't in our near future.

We've arrived alive and are getting settled in.
I must be getting old. The 1,365 mile road trip to get to Cape Coral kicked my ass.
With all of the crazies on the road, that shouldn't even be able to get a license to ride a tricycle, keep you on your toes every minute you're behind he wheel.
God bless and stay away from strangers!

One thing Sweed visits don't do is suck. Wassup my man other than being a show off in Flo Rida? I'm jealous more than THIS.

I'm not sure I should admit it or not but I learned more Civil War history on that 3/4 mile trek than 12 years of public school. :insert familiar whistle tune:

img_1076.png

I agree with road trips. We just recently booked our plane rides across the ocean and we had two options of getting Pura's things to her mothers; drive them or fly out and ship them. No brainer.

You're good at callin'em. Not sure how I wanna see the way our current culture plays out if you're right and, what I mean by right is, correct.

Always a pleasure sir. Say hello to the Mrs for me now move would ya, you're blocking my sun.

I think it is too late to give a comment within the first 7 days, so I'll just say that looks like HEAVEN. The views and the history speak to me.

sidenote- Remember that time you said you would teach me everything you know? I am trying to stalk you on discord to no avail. I can't find your username you gave me. mine is liftslikealady#8177

Interesting. No problem. You have a friend request on your discord now 💖 and, absolutely, everything I know.

Good morning from wherever I am

I'm so unfamiliar with this part of the world and what they call 4-seasons. I've seen it twice now, though, and there's about a 2 week window in November where the natural colors outside are unmatched.

I was telling Sweed earlier I learned more on that 3/4 mile walk about the Civil War than I did 12 years of public schooling. 🥶

Looks like a nice walk. I always like it when there are plaques and information boards talking about the history of the area. That's always neat.

The long portrait shots that you took of the trees are really cool. You really get a sense for their height. Nice!

I look forward to your comments Leaky. You never disappoint. How'd you get that handle anyway?

Wanna know a secret? Don't tell anyone I told you. It'll be our little secret. I had those images in my folder since November. When I transferred them from my album to the blockchain the signs were blurry (like the tall one I didn't change out that says Civil War Ramp).

But I didn't know it until I was working my last edits LAST NIGHT!! Psst... Super early this am like way way way way too early I had to take off back out there, 20 miles away, UPhill both directions, in the snow and get those close-ups.

img_1076.png

Hahaha that hilarious. I definitely mine old photos as well. I don't think I ever had to go out and retake a shot though. That's dedication right there.

My handle. It's a nickname my wife gave me a while back. It relates to a leaky barrel reference based on the photo but we altered it to relate to stress and coping mechanisms. Basically the human is the barrel, the water is their capacity to deal with stress, the leak is the stress. I'd this making any sense? 😆

Screenshot_20220126-194013_Chrome.jpg

Nice!

You're an uninterrupted stress relief. I'm so glad I asked. Nofa king wonder your visits are so pleasant.

Oh hell yes use it up. I'm glad I'm able to help. Sofa king works sofa king good too.

Definitely worth all that clickety-do's :D

Hey this is a nice surprise, clickety-thank you Kaerpediem. 💖

Such nice clouds clickedy do’s gorgeous fall colors and such a fun read

I love the photo with the red chairs

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

That pair of red chairs is a show stealer for sure. Took me awhile to place them, figured I'd go with front and center and all by itself.

Thanks for having me.

Always a pleasure to see your post

beautiful

Thank you. Дякую. Спасибо.

This is a nice surprise, I'm glad you found me. While I got you, what's the word over there? Is tension as high at the border as they want me to believe?

here is tension, but not as they say in the media

"Yeah except there's 525,960 minutes in a 365 day, 52 week calendar year and, unless you point and clickety-do on November 16th between 13 and 15 hundred EST, you'll miss it."

Born and raised in North Western Pennsyl-Tucky, you remove 30 days and call it October 16th...

@ 15:05 on the 17th...

The wind blew, the leaves flew, You waited till the 17th and you were screwed.

Leaves Be Gone

Well if it's confirmed by a Pennslytuckian then let it be written!

Wassup Randy? Good morning. Do you think I wrote too little on this one? I did that because there's so much verbiage to read on those signs. Bla bla bla..

I overthink things sometimes like there isn't a single thing around me that isn't a little shitter than before, Covid really fucked things up. Gas is up 95% and humans are nuts but that's obvious. It's everything else that's equally a little shittier across the board that's weighing on me.

I'm doing it again huh?

Yep... You izzz.

But that is what makes you...

You...

untitled.gif

The photos (and signage) speak so much. So no, not too little IMO.

Thank you sir.

Anyone seen Nine..?

She MIA again..?

@nineclaws

untitled.gif

Nothing personal. Life happens. I've posted about it but it passed away, such as life, wouldn't mind that myself. Thanks for tagging me.

Don't mention it.

Read her passed away post if you have not already. It is haunting me right now. Powerful stuff this shitty thing we call life @dandays

Yeah man. Life. That, it's crazy, and the mailman never misses a beat.

Do not make me come up there looking for you. I will have to join the convoy.

untitled.gif

Hey man, I needed that. Although I got see plenty of the color this year, most of it was from behind a windshield and steering wheel. I didn't get to walk in it, or take my clicky-do at precisely the right moment.

This was the next best thing.

On a more adversarial note, the earth is spherical in shape (an oblate spheroid, to be precise), not circular. Unless you're a flat-earther, which means you've been in Tennessee too long. Just two cents from a guy whose head that wasn't over.

You're welcome more than THIS. I say the pleasure's mine a lot but I mean it. I only lie to people I love.

We're not there yet.

I saw a big street art piece in Thessaloniki of earth once. It was huge, stainless steel. I think I posted a picture of it one time, maybe I didn't. Stood about 30 feet high, had each continent and stuff on it, all stainless. Really cool welds.

It was square.

I meant like a marble. Not marble like the kind you mine like granite, marble like the round things we used to play marbles with. I see what you mean, I need to explain myself better.

That looks like a relaxing place. Great photos! 😎

Tough to snap a bad shot in the fall around here.

Thanks Trincowski. Been a long time hasn't it?

Don’t you love when strangers put random shit in your face? My favorite pass time!

Love the historical fort, have been to a couple but we don’t have a lot of civil war stuff this high up, though we do have some dubya dubya eye eye (WWII) batteries dotting the coast line. Those are fun to explore.

Not too often can batteries be confusing. That one stumped me for a second.

Good morning cmplxty, cool you made it by here. This state is engulfed in Civil War history. It's everywhere. Several buildings still standing after 200 years proudly display their cannon holes in the exterior.

The quarry's around here are all named after a battery fort. I've been to three, I think there's four. Either I wasn't paying attention that day or the trail at High Ground is a better teacher than school.

The red chairs are superb! I've always found it difficult to imagine the vastness of the US because Europe is just a string of urbanisation.
Trees are beautiful, the same as your weekend will be.

Hope the patient is feeling better

Strange how I apply seem to catch you on a Friday...

Wassup Nathen? Catch me any day you want, Fridays work me.

I didn't notice how special that shot of the chairs was when I snapped it. When I went through them though it was my favorite too.

In most of this country excluding only major cities, you can have as much privacy or as little privacy you want. Far removed or right on top of conveniences.

Any interest in checking out America? We're scheduled to fly back across the Atlantic in May. Exciting. That was a long time out.

Have a great weekend sir, always a pleasure when you stop by.
