Yeah, the novelty will wear off and it'll come down to a few hard-core participants but I'll do some more and see how it goes.
The smart people are going through the comments and engaging with those who have entered which builds relationships. This is one of the biggest benefits of something like this for a new user...a load of people all in the one place at the one time.
The #weekend-engagement topics concept started in this exact way...Used to get 1200+ comments (average of about 600-700) on the post which became too difficult to handle which is why I went to the posting format I have now.
