I was 12 years old; my most fond teacher in school was my biology teacher. Mostly because she was kind but also because learning about living, breathing beings was of great interest to me. So when she said one day that we would have a group activity to plant trees around our school on a Saturday, I not only agreed but was also thrilled to be part of it.
On Saturday morning we arrived, and my teacher handed us all the tools and tiny saplings. We were shown how to dig, add some amount of fertilizer, plant the sapling, and then set soil around it and finally water it gently. It was so magical to see our efforts after a few years. I was at the school till age 16, and I felt so proud every time I looked at the mini trees that started from that day. I also vowed to myself that once I have a home of my own, I would plant at least a couple of trees around it as part of my contribution to nature.
