Daily Prompt 2544 + A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words | Please Stop It! (November 02)

I almost missed it on day 2! It is a good thing I did not. The picture prompt and the daily prompt seem to resonate, so I am merging them into one.

What I See:

  • Legs of a kid, wearing a pair of sneakers.
  • The left shoelace is untangled.
  • Ribbons on the road.
  • Colors are all over the legs and the roads.

What I Feel:

Maybe it was a color fest day, and the one we can see is tired from all the fun but physical activities thus needed to lie down to take a breath.

Story:

It was the day of Holi. Preety was upset as they recently moved to another country leaving their motherland India behind. But moving to a new country was not the reason for her foul mood. On the day of Holi, she used to enjoy all day with her cousins. It Looked like in that year, nothing interesting would happen and she would not play Holi with anyone.

'Come on Preety, cheer up! You are a big girl now, you cannot keep a long face on a festive day,' said Anita, Preety's mother.

'How can I be happy Ma, when there is nothing to enjoy?'

'Get ready, we will go out within 15 minutes.'

Although her mind eased a little, she had no high hopes.

But when they reached the community gathering place, she was excited! It seemed like she returned to her country. People are in a festive mood playing with colors.

'You said nothing will happen on the day of Holi!' she said excitedly.

'We did that to see the impression on you face,' told Preety's father Raj. Also added, 'Why wait, lets play Holi.....'

'Please stop it! I cannot run any more,' exclaimed Preety taking heavy breaths.

She sat on the road, which showed the signs of a festival.

'Tired already? You did not like it then?' said her parents.

'No! I loved it. It probably is one the best days of my life. Thank you Papa and Ma for giving me such memory!'

Sort:

When they are children, they want to go everywhere with some of us, but when they get younger, they avoid us.... Sad reality.

I am also guilty of that 😓

Home sick...
I really would like to witness a real Holi or Diwali.

I would also 😅

I wish to engage in such celebration, but it will make bathing longer

😅😅😅😅 yes

Good for this family on a truly "Holi" day!

absolutely! 😅😅😅

What a lovely memory indeed Preety had with no idea of the fun she would encounter at the festival. Unexpected pleasure. I was happy to read that she was genuine surprised after telling her mother she had nothing to be happy about since she left her beloved India and its Holi festival.

I felt sad for her missing her cousins. But her parents knew she would enjoy their outing. A nice story. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment.

The great thing about children. From one sec to the next tired or not willing to set a foot.

Too much fun takes the fun out of anything 😅
